East Side Pies has been robbing their customers for years, seems fair.

Yeah, I kinda dig East Side Pies.  We've hit the Burnet Road location a couple of times lately.

The city is being a little weird, IMHO.

On 6th street, they are adding cars to a heavily pedestrian street to make it safer.
But over on Congress, they are proposing closing part of the street to cars to make it safer for pedestrians.

What if the folks that are causing issues on 6th just migrate over to Congress?

It's not weird.  You're just mistakenly assuming anyone put any thought into any of this, outside of listening to complaints from a vocal minority of malcontents, followed by briefly skimming studies/reports provided by groups that stand to profit from the changes.  You know, the way everything gets decided in Austin.

Eh,  There are 3 shops within spitting distance that crush it -- Homeslice, Feral, and Tony C's.

Homeslice is actually a PITA to get to, and to get into.  Love it, it's my wife's favorite pizza, but it's just always slammed.  When I just want a damned pizza, I like someplace I can go into and get a pizza.  Not a fan of Tony C's.  I've had it several times, and the crust is always too soggy/limp.  I've given it several chances.  I hear great things about Feral, but it's takeout only.  When we want to go in and sit down and eat, that's not an option.  But I do want to try it.

The real hard sell is going there instead of Bufalina, which my wife loves.  But again, can be tough to get in.

I don't know how the hell you can handle eating enough pizza to come to that conclusion.  Are you still in your thirties or something?  I'll have to try Feral or Tony C's for my next biannual slice of pizza.

I miss Cozzoli’s.

$5 for a slice and a coke.

is this one of those ironic Gen Z slangs?

Big no on Tony C's. Soggy, flavorless pizza.

Never had a soggy flavorless pizza from Tony C's.  I think they don't like y'all.

CraigO's is my favorite in Austin.

Amy's Ice Cream, East Side Pies broken into overnight in Austin, Texas

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Two popular Austin spots were hit overnight by burglars, the businesses told KXAN Saturday.

Amy’s Ice Cream and East Side Pies told KXAN they showed up to their locations on U.S. Highway 183 near Anderson Mill Road to find their glass doors had been shattered.

East Side Pies shared a video with KXAN showing two people entering the business wearing dark hoodies and covering their faces.

A spokesperson with East Side Pies told KXAN all three East Side Pies locations had a break-in this month, and that it’s alarming to see local businesses across Austin being targeted like this.

East Side Pies said someone broke into their Burnet location on Aug. 6, and they were able to get a picture of the masked intruder.

“This break-in is part of a string of burglaries happening across Austin and too many of our fellow small businesses have been affected. What has carried us through today is the love and support we’ve already felt from our neighborhood and the city. If you are looking for a way to help, the best thing you can do is keep showing up for local spots you love. Come by and share a scoop or a burger with us- and please make sure to stop by our neighbors at East Side Pies, who were also impacted. Moments like this remind us why Austin is such a special place to call home “

-Amy’s Ice Cream spokesperson

At least someone didn't murder the employees and set the place on fire. APD would never be able to solve that.

No love for PHP?  Decent pizza, great beers.  Craig-Os is a good option, too.  Via 313 is also a damn good calorie bomb.

Their pizza is trash.

I left out Little Deli in my taxonomy of pizza joints in the greater Crestview area.  My bad.  Always good, sometimes great.

I like the idea of pinthouse better than the execution.  The last pizza I got there was pretty good though.

I miss going to the one on mopac and 290. They made a damn good plain pepperoni.

Okay Millenial.

Tony C's is ass but add in Jet's, Pedroso's, and Desano's.  My kid liked ESP for the $4 for 2 slices lunch special.  She went there at least once a week while at McCallum.

lol.  Nope.  Solid Gen Xer.  Old gut just can't handle that kind of bomb anymore.  If I were the age of a millennial, I would still be eating a ton of pizza.  I'm impressed with the gastrointestinal fortitude of my fellow old timers here, though.   I can't eat dairy anymore, without paying a price that isn't worth it.  That, combined with the amount of sugar in pizza, and it fucking wrecks me every time I give in to temptation.

The food truck?  I had it once, seemed very good.  Did they move or are the still at the same spot?

Conan's Savage, IMO

This the one next to Einsteins? Haven't been that way in a while.

It's on Anderson Lane, sandwiched between a Starbucks and a Wingstop.

I think it's the one I was thinking of. For a while there was a place on top of Suzi's that didn't last long, but the last thing I remember for that spot was some place with a stupid seafood pun which I assume also closed down, so it's possible it became a pizza place again.

Yeah, I can't remember the name of the place above Suzi's.  It seemed unremarkable.  If I'm not mistaken, it's now a District Kitchen, and there's a mattress store downstairs.

Rebel something. Maybe just Rebel Pizza. Had a little bar area on the balcony looking over scenic Anderson Lane and Yogurt Shop Murder site.

It is very good, They have a take out spot next to Lala’s or you can sit in the Christmas theme and enjoy a slice.

It was unremarkable and those barstools at the tall tables sucked.
Our geezer happy hour group met up there once and we couldn’t sit comfortably because there wasn’t anyplace to park our feet.
IIRC, the pizza wasn’t particularly noteworthy.

That spot has been a bunch of shitty restaurants.

There was a pretty good Filipino place there, but it didn't last long. I think it closed right before, or because of, Covid.

Shortie’s was the name of the pizza place. I had it a few times and thought it was pretty good. Their website is still up: https://shortiespizza.com

It was Be More Pacific before that. They moved to Houston and were featured on Triple D a few years ago.

Be More Pacific used to be a food truck that came by my office weekly a few years ago.  Good to hear they made something of it!

We don’t mind tall bar stools, but there should be some kind of rail to rest our gnarly feet on.

Little deli is awesome. The pizzas are fine and the sandwiches and desserts are great. That little shopping center is like going back in time. It reminds me of dazed and confused.

Cajun in general.  Austin has one or two decent Cajun restaurants that might pass for acceptable in Houston.  Other than that, I really don't miss Houston at all.
