I dislike Beck the coordinator as much as the next fan, but all the jokes about him in a thread announcing that he's missing a game due hospitalization are as inappropriate as a slow developing stretc

Whatever it is, I hope they wheel his gurney into Oklahoma's locker room this weekend, and make sure he mingles with all their players in close quarters.

Get well Coach Beck...

How Crazy would it be if HORNS score over 40pts with Beck not there??

“The collaborative game calling” answer wears my ass out.

This saturdays game we will be able to tell more since beck is gone if we can notice a difference. The last two weeks have made me believe beck isn’t calling his own game so I suspect we will see much of the same.

Beck should be thanking Herb Hand and thanking the fuck out of Yancy McKnight.

Serious question and I sincerely hope Beck makes a recovery, but how weird is it that Shaggy Surly mob wants to know if Herman has been calling plays or taking a more substantial roll in play calling and Beck doesn't travel for a game? Coincidental, but still kind of weird.

Here's to the Horns scoring a ton of points, winning the game, and ending the Wizard's reign.

This board will go ape shit if the play calling is flawless without Beck.  Confirmation of what we think we already know.

I've got $20 on retropharyngeal abscess.

I thought you only got that back in the 1970’s, hence retro...

Is there some disease that would prevent him from coaching at UT but would have no other negative effects?  If so, I hope he has that.

I believe you’re thinking of disco.

the only problem is if Herman intentionally calls bad plays to cover for his buddy.

Yes, that sounds like a realistic and plausible scenario.

I'm a man. I'm 40. And I've been hospitalized with a kidney infection. It was fucking brutal.

Yeah, pyelonephritis fails the ‘not serious’ criterion and is under the heading of uti. People die from urosepsis.

If you listened to Hand, he said he was too busy looking at the play call to notice one of his lineman lost a shoe and had to come out a play. The back up was ready and went out there and he said oh, nice, worked like it supposed to for equipment substitution.

Haha. I think there's gonna be Sam catching a pass at some point.

If it's black, don't turn back. If it's red, you might be dead.

Penile gangrene. It’s your call on whether you want to go on as an amputee.

Yeah, for a young guy to get admitted to the hospital usually means he's pretty sick.  Get well coach.

I'll go with rabies for $500, Alex

I’m happy to hear he appears to be improving. it sucks to be sick.

He may already be out of the hospital, but it makes sense not to travel with a compromised immune system, a pressurized tube to travel in, and recirculated air to breathe. And depending on mode of transmission, that last part may also be cautionary for the rest of the team... it’s not prudent for a hundred kids and the other coaches to be in a confined environment with and breathing the same air as someone who’s recently been hospitalized with an infection. It was probably an easy call.

Herman is going to throw in a few shit calls today, just to keep us confused.  Cause Mensa....

It would be cool not to read comments about people being happy he’s not calling the game given the circumstances but I don’t have high hopes for that.

Get well soon coach.

People can be sorry that he is sick and happy that he is not calling the plays at the same time.

Of course. I just think it would be cool to not read those comments while the dude is in the damn hospital. That’s all.

The offense scored just 10 points in the first half. I'd tap the breaks on calling it 'great'.
