I dislike Beck the coordinator as much as the next fan, but all the jokes about him in a thread announcing that he's missing a game due hospitalization are as inappropriate as a slow developing stretc

Looks like Tim Beck will either be fired or demoted, as well.

As long as he’s demoted (at a minimum) I’m good with it. Move him to TE and let him recruit

He's Bijan's lead recruiter. I think Herman has to make sure things are good on that front before he can fire him or re-assign him.

Did Bijan say that he was headed to Texas as long as Herman was the coach? Like during this season?

The two cranes in the south end zone are your tip offs that changes will be happening....

So let Beck coach the QBs so we can watch Sam regress to having the skills of an 8th grader?

Great, these media leaks will only help secure more money for these guys at their current places.

When did college become the NFL with all of these retreads?

Watson and now Beck ending up with OC jobs after failing at Texas? WTF.

Just change it to Fuck the OC. Robust and long lasting.

It’s amazing how much money people are willing to spend on proven failures

Yep. The idea of Beck getting a sole OC gig at a P5 school after flaming out at both tOSU and Texas should be crazy, but it’s pretty much status quo for football coaching hires.

This only works for South Austin's mom.

there's good reason to have retained Beck but too late. Orlando had no business being on campus but it's too late for Beck. The downside risk is a worse hire at OC, but only time will tell.

I'm guessing NCSU didn't bother to watch any of our games.  Serves them right.

Not at OC there isn't

Perhaps Beck's biggest legacy here would be his hand in delivering Bijan Robinson

Good luck to him. Poor play caller but a good QB coach and recruiter.

Yeah, that show really went off the rails after the 2nd season.

Tim Beck gets started today as NC State OC...

What to expect from NC State's new-look offense vs. Wake Forest

By. R. CORY SMITH Sep 15th

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Last season, NC State's offense went from a well-oiled machine the two years prior to one of the worst in the entire ACC. The Wolfpack ranked 67th in the country in passing yards, 75th in the country in rushing yards and tied for 241st in scoring with just 22.1 points per game.

That led to letting go of Des Kitchings, taking the "co-" off the offensive coordinator role and bringing in Tim Beck. Not only has Beck found success at programs like Nebraska, Ohio State and Texas 😂, he's developed systems around quarterbacks that have led to thriving offenses.

But it's not just about the quarterbacks, obviously. As Beck has said since the day he was hired, his plan is to not only feature his best players, but shape the offense throughout the week and during the game based on the opposing defense.

"The biggest thing to all that is ‘who are the people? What are you good at? What are they giving you?’" Beck said. "It’s easy to say ‘well, you’ve got a lot of running backs, just run them.’ If they’re playing a nine-man box, it’s hard to do that consistently. You have to have every single guy make those blocks.

"So, we’re going to do what the defense gives us, first and foremost. Keeping that in mind, we’ll do it with our best players. ... You base your offense on what you’re good at, the skill set you have, but then also on what the defense does."

Outside of starting quarterback Devin Leary, Beck has an experienced backfield trio with Ricky Person Jr., Zonovan Knight and Jordan Houston, who all should be featured. In the passing game, players like Emeka Emezie, Cary Angeline, Thayer Thomas and Devin Carter all return along with C.J. Riley back from injury and exciting newcomer Porter Rooks cracking the depth chart.

That's why the plan for the Pack this season will be to utilize a "multiple" offense under Beck that allows for it to have not just one identity. Beck has teased everything extreme from having four-wide receiver sets to a 13 personnel that would include two wide receivers on the field -- hence the addition of the "F" position on the depth chart for Dylan Autenrieth and Dylan Parham.

As for what Pack fans will see this coming Saturday against Wake Forest, Dave Doeren isn't expecting to throw out the entire bag of tricks just yet.

"You’re not going to see the whole playbook, obviously," Doeren said ahead of the season opener. "I think as we got into training camp we were able to install a lot. Those two weeks where they kind of backed everybody down in the summer and where we kind of had the 20-hour rule, we were allowed to do a lot of walkthroughs. [Beck]'s able to get a lot of things coached in that situation. We were starting to install quite a bit.

"Once we hit the slowdown and lost a lot of guys during that eight-day window, it was really a time where he settled in on ‘What do we need to have at the beginning of the year?’ He really started repping those things as guys came back. You’re going to see the offense grow as the season goes."

During his nine years as an offensive coordinator, Beck has become known as somewhat of a quarterback whisperer.😂  He's helped recruit and develop players like Taylor Martinez, J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones and Sam Ehlinger along with helping develop both Dwayne Haskins and Joe Burrow during his time with Ohio State.

While Doeren was hesitant to say that the full playbook would be put on display, Beck said he feels comfortable with his current quarterbacks understanding the full system heading into the season. He also isn't afraid to change course in order to make the system fit what Leary does best when the team hits the field.

"With Devin [Leary], and really Bailey [Hockman] and Ben [Finley], the whole playbook is at their disposal right now," Beck said. "We’ve been able to get in everything that we need to get in. As we work through our offense and we go through our practices, we find out that there’s some things that they can handle and some things that they can’t handle.

"It’s my job to figure out what those are. If it’s a necessity it’s ‘how do we fix that?’ If we don’t, then we just throw it out. That’s the beauty of being multiple."

Even with all of the uncertainty surrounding the 2020 offseason and the difficulty of installing a brand new system, Person Jr. shares his OC's confidence heading into the season opener on Saturday.

"Everybody's been counting us out based off last year, talking about how we were young and we didn't have the depth," Person Jr. said. "But we've got a great offensive coordinator in Tim Beck, who really knows what he's doing. He's got plays off of plays. We're ready. We've got a lot of depth going into this year. Everybody's mindset is on the same page.

"It's gonna be something to see once everyone gets to see it.".

Beck and NC State beat Wake Forest 45 - 42

See what happens when the Beck is unleashed..45 whole points!

I have no beef with Beck. If our D could have stopped anyone last year, things would have played out a lot better than they did.
