It's a lot more like Jerry Jones' grandkid getting into SMU.

It's a large Texas forum. Every thread will largely be dominated by Texas posters. This is news? Not only that, it's funny in some form? My view is that the Big 12 will be fine as the 4th of 4 la

Ha-ha! You’ve got us figured out, Slorch! UT is just the rich kid that believes he deserves everything he inherited. The Longhorn program was built on leaching off the largesse of the good, hard working people of the state, and it jealously hoards all it can take, not sharing with anyone. It discarded the scrappy programs it had been leveraging for success, as soon as it could!

Oh, if only some good, hard working programs like Mississippi State or Arkansas can give UT the comeuppance we so richly deserve!

😂

The post preceding mine made it sound as if some great trials and tribulations had been passed, when in reality, you fell over 3rd base.

It's absolutely about the money.  Bottom line.  That is what college sports is, and we want it that way; but don't make it some act of valor or some shit.  That is incredibly insane.

Dont think smu is that hard to get in to

It's no Oklahoma...

Sounds like Florida State's likely departure from the ACC has led the SEC/Big10 to decide to pick over the ACC's bones, leave the NCAA and create NFL College.  This seemed inevitable following the dissolution of the PAC but it is all happening much faster than expected. The Big 12 will now be the preeminent football conference in the NCAA!

Pretty sure most big 12 schools have open admissions

I actually have a degree from tech.  Picked it up while I was walking around campus.   Some guy was just passing it out like jolly ranchers.

Other than Texas, every big 12 school is a shitty academic school.  That includes ou.

Well, that’s his truth. 😂

Not a left-behind.  Like Chris Beard, just a rental.

CU, KU, and ISU are all pretty solid public schools.  I think Utah is as well.

Matt Rhule is a good hire, if they let him work on a B12 development cycle, I.e., do a great job of scouting athletes, use redshirts (and not) to get a promising group of athletes paced together, play them early and fight through a couple of 5-7 and 6-6 years, and then make a run when they’re developed. Wadlingtonpodcasted how Rhule, at BU, recruited a bunch of three stars with high SPARQ scores, meaning they’re great athletes, but haven’t learned to play. He put in the time to develop them, and gave Baylor its best year ever.

He cashed that in on a NFL job, and is now at NU. Are they ready to be competitive every third year or so, now? It depends on how they perceive themselves now.

Holy shit, how come nobody else ever thought of this before?

We're going to focus on signing the best athletes who will come here.

The difference is- in 2010, if you tell OSU fans that they’re going to build the team in cycles, and contend every 3-4 years, they’d say, “Sign us up!”, while 2010 NU fans say, “Get the fuck out of here with that shit!”

In 2024, they might/should have a new perspective.

Well, at least Corn has a glorious, more recent history that makes them delusional, unlike aggy.

You can drop the “more recent” qualifier unless you’re implying that aggy has ever been glorious on the grid iron.

If by “solid,” you mean “mediocre,” then yes

You've forgotten 1939, sir.

And what a glorious year it was. Aggy beat the 'sips, won their only title, and singlehandedly defeated Hitler before Bonfire. To celebrate, they burned an outhouse with swastikas painted on it and masturbated into jars of rancid sauerkraut. Whoop!

Real talk here for a minute—there are a bunch of sports that are suddenly going to be competitive in the Big XII next year for the first time.

Imagine: Baylor or Iowa State could actually win a conference championship in swimming or volleyball. That’s wild.

Are they doing that joint B12 Pro Day for football this year or does that start next season?

Ah yes, the two noted programs with Irish heritage...

I'm talking about the two that are in the very topic this was posted in. The left behind ones.  The FSU/Georgia Tech game was announced last year.

They’re gonna sell a lot of fucking beer

So, there is something like football played in Ireland, so maybe they’re naturals for this. I’ll tell you what, Dublin is awesome. Honestly, it really exceeded my (already positive) expectations. I encourage everyone to go sometime.

That said, I never saw any need to eat the mashed peas that were a side dish on every damned meal.

It's great for their fans but this is a gimmick that seems like it will have diminishing returns every time someone not Notre Dame tries it. That's now a prime KSU home game that's gone. But whatever, gives us something to watch in week 0, I guess.

I visited Dublin last year and I agree. Fantastic city.

I tried the mashed peas a couple of times because I like peas, but found it pretty bland.

I’ve thought for awhile the Big 12 would be smart to put several conference games in Week 0 every year.  Hopefully this leads to more of that.

Also, my buddy dubbed this Farm O’Geddon and I love that.

Don’t teams that play on Week 0 have the option to add a 13th game to their schedule? Usually an FCS cupcake to make up for the loss of a home game.

That went away years ago.

I think the only path to a 13th regular season game now is playing at Hawaii. (Although, that may be gone as well)

Either way, with a 9 game conference schedule, and three non cons to work with, there should be no problem with either team getting at least 6 home games in any given year.

In Fort Worth for nephew's graduation from TCU last night. While sitting through those 3 hours of fucking bullshit I couldn't help but laugh at the 4 or 5 dorks who flashed Horns down while crossing the stage after getting their diploma. Biggest achievement in your life to date and that's what you do? Not even the little horn groggy sign? Sad.

On the other hand, after seeing the easy 4:1 ratio of female/male in the ceremony, I can't imagine how inept a guy would have to be to not get laid there. This was Fine Arts/Engineering/Education/Nursing schools.
