I think Snopes did a thing on that picture and the shop owners provided a defense for it that I guess made a sliver of sense, but, yeah.

They didn’t want their particle board getting wet.

This is the aggie quote from that Snopes story…

Quote

Our windows will not support the weight of plywood screwed into their frames — neither is there sufficient masonry wall surrounding them for an attachment — therefore our contractor a "good Ag" suggested saving the store from a major cleanup and letting the glass go — it wasn't a difficult decision to make!

Ha ha, holy shit. That's even worse. Is their store made out of toothpicks and duct tape? Did they forget that resting something on the fucking ground is a good way to support its weight?

I am no engineer, but I rig stuff at my ranch all the time.  You could simply wedge $10 worth of 2x4s upright under the window to hold the weight.

Right? There's like a million options. These Aggies were too dumb to solve this enigma, but hey, kudos to them for recognizing that fact. So they brought in another Aggie, an ostensible expert in the field if plywoodery, to consult. And even with that addition to the brain trust, they just couldn't answer the riddle of "how do I support a piece of plywood".

JFC. How did I miss this? I must have been too busy dealing with life after Ike.

I was told by an aggy that they didn't want glass in the store. That was hurricane Ike if I remember right, probably a TS by the time it got that far inland. If you live on the coast, a TS isn't much of anything,  like getting a handy.

I went to Ft. Lewis, in Durango, my freshman year. My suite mate's older brother went to Wasted State, we went up to go see him the second weekend in September, I shit you not, it was twelve degrees at night. There was some kind of festival, that weekend. We were all broke, I drove, we coasted in on fumes. Was the first place I ever ate raw oysters. A guy had shipped several bushels in, and he had a lot left over. He told us if we had a pocketknife, and wanted to shuck our own we could have all we wanted for free. I was starving, so I ate about 5-6 dozen. Suite mate's brother had just got in a QP of the most badass hash I have ever smoked. He gave us an OZ on credit, told us to go sell half of it to cover his cost, and smoke the rest.

Only thing missing in this story is playing drunken ice hockey on "the pond".  Protip, don't play drunk ice hockey against 6'+ Alaskan born crazy white guys. It ends poorly.

this thread's quiet enough so surely nobody will mind a short clip of Caleb Williams at (edit) this week's drills

I’ll only add this since I know Bears fans are in eternal pain: in 2024 only Anthony Richardson was more inaccurate than Caleb Williams when *not* facing pressure.

I don't think $350 and a pack of sunflower seeds is going to get him very far in his endeavors.

WTF!? That is some top shelf ‘tard right there. I would add that the price they are looking for would be equal to everything an individual has. After all, it would be the last thing they ever did.

It's funny seeing them and others try to find a way to hate Sark. They have to make shit up.

He's a drunk.

He never wins more than seven games; he's a fraud.

He lies about NIL and culture.

Texas money is the only thing that made his teams good.

Hear Sark speak once and you can tell immediately that he's a good guy. He's largely unhateable, and they hate that.

He’s a better man than any of their football coaches for at least a generation or two.
And they’re still pissed about the 530 yards passing Sark blasted them with when he was playing for BYU.

In the quiet of an offline conversation, Sarkisian is capable of expressing genuine disdain for the ATM football program. He’s not a fan of Elko either. A lot of it carries over from Fisher and Elko fucking the state of affairs for everyone while he was still at Bama. A lot of their bullshit about him with recruits and the media (feeding negative shit to their people in the media and the national guys) started when he was there and carried over to Texas. Fisher is a piece of human shit. Excluding Elko from that label for the time being, but he’s not some jolly kind man just because he’s fatter than Santa Claus.

So it is funny to me that the aggie fanbase is so desperate to hate him. They have a pathological need to both deify their coaches and vilify the Texas coaches. Sarkisian will never say a negative thing about them in public, yet they’ll manufacture their anger because of some psychological shortcoming as a fanbase that only they possess.

In any event, he gets them in ways it only took the bonfire game for Mack Brown to comprehend. I think he’s going to do everything he can to blow them out everytime Texas plays them.

8/4/24:  Can't wait to see the sips have to play a murderers' row of an SEC schedule!  They'll be lucky to finish above .500!

8/4/25:  It ain't fair!  Them sips get the easiest schedules!

Another year, another QB graphic

This fall, 5️⃣ former Texas A&M quarterbacks will be comtending for the starting position on various Power 4 rosters. I present to you, the First Team All Ex-Aggie.

Not only that, Texas gets a chance to play the guy.

I thought they must be starting that kid who torched us last year

https://ukathletics.com/sports/football/roster/player/cutter-boley/

But it looks like Calzada will be the starter. So we're in position for exact same script to play out again.
