Analyzing an article written about how A&M hasn't done much with its 12 year head start in the SEC and maybe moving to the BIG is for them.  Top of page 2:

Yes, you honest soul. You sat in your study and did your analysis without consulting the other thousand Aggie posts puking out the same conclusion. No, you soberly determined that 1975 was the correct watershed moment because you believe you became "normal" then. Straight up facts. You didn't even consider the straight up facts from below:

image.png.60ab218222fd83d589a7e743e129bac0.png

That 3-19 run really shouldn't count because A&M was pre-normal. Oh, actually it's worse than 3-19. I just had trouble getting the prior 2-11-1 part of the schedule to fit.

Now, back to history and straight up facts.

image.png.6a6d88effc0c596e7659690217c41635.png

We see how their dead even period begins as they've become "normal."

Hell, we were even out of Viet Nam. All the manly soldiers boys have nowhere to go. They got girls and "non-regs" (exactly how all normal schools refer to students not in the ROTC or ROTC Auxilliary). Fuck stompings have resumed. But, our esteemed analyst now eases on by this to when he was in school. Indeed, the Aggies prevailed for a while. He likes to mention the 90s, but let's pick it up from above, shall we?

image.png.a266b9abd7fa3a17c042b688e13daf57.png

Another bit of rough road for the normalized Aggies. But something changes!

image.png.3fd547b6b67ac12717ee7f65268e515d.png

The dear old Aggies are 12-6 versus the Ebil Longhorns. With a six game win streak and a five game win streak. Full normalcy is achieved. They are now the awakened giant. Jackie Sherrill is a miracle worker. They're on their way to equality or dominance just as the fellow has been saying all along. I won't make mention of the sanctions they incurred. I don't need to.

Let's see how the Aggies continue in their rightful place:

image.png.e35108c03bb8d9ac533d3f1d02fe6932.png

What's this? Did we have another foreign war? Did the number of non-regs crash to give way to their various versions of the ROTC? NO GIRLS?!?!?!?!

It's a national conspiracy! In every game but the last, Texas is ranked in the top ten for 8 of the 9 times then won. Shouldn't the newly normal Ags be right up there, too? The unfairness of never being in the top ten going into their final game of the season!

image.png.fb3ecf27ff8b3f4ea9679aa7e6d63814.png

1 Later part of the last century, absolutely.

2 No, you were not and are not. You can't hang your hat on a single run surrounded by Texas dominating you.

3 Yep. Just one magical year. The rest was shit. Ten win seasons. Bowl victories over Ohio State and Michigan. Beating the fuck out of the dead even (that is just facts!) fully normal Aggies, playing in a second national championship game in 2009, and narrowly missing another in 2008 with arguably the best team in the period.

4 Fuck you, nut-rider. 77-0 in the third quarter ring any bells, Mr. Dead Even

5 Nobody really even knows who the Longhorns are anymore. That 4-5 run the Ags put on us after 1975 destroyed the brand. Sad, really.

He then descends into jiberish. The norm. Just as the norm is Texas kicking A&M's nuts up around their neck.

And I’m not going to re-post some cursory stuff I’ve done before, but the nonsense about corps and boys only is just that—nonsense. Go and look at what the real all-male military academies were doing in every decade that TAMU says they couldn’t be competitive.  That’s right, Army and Navy were not just being competitive, but in many decades posting double-digit wins against top-flight competition and winning MNCs.

GTFO, Aggie. You’re drunk.  And stupid. Not a good way to go through life.

Yes - aggy we actually played the Naval Academy in ‘63 for the NC. They actually also had the Heisman Trophy winner on their roster.

Hook’em!!!

"it's been proven that all schools in the sec will now be competing on a more even foot - i think the old "branding" the sips had in this regard actually died in 1975, but so many people simply forget it"

this is world-class jibberish, but i want to try to unpack it

what "branding" did we have that "died" in 1975?

when the royal era ended we did not wander the wilderness

i can't figure this one out

as far as "so many people", who, which people, are, were, or have forgotten what?

i.e. have the unknown people forgotten about the sec/evenfootproven thing (whatever that is) or have the unnkown people forgotten about the "old sips branding" (whatever that is) "dying" in 1975?

someday all of these caps should be fed in to an ai algorithm used to author (fabricate) religious texts

I love how they conveniently keep all of the vacated wins from their NCAA probations of the 80s and 90s.

Guess they should thank UT for getting them into AAU.

The SEC move was strategic and understandable.

The BIG move (not that I think there's any real truth to it) would be suicide.

If they want to pretend records only count from '75 forward, they need to turn in all of their national championship trophies (including the fake ones), a Heisman trophy, and most of their conference championship trophies.

Almost like what they did in the Big 12, always voting for unequal revenue sharing. Oh, and what they always accuse us of doing.

Funny thing is-they'd get into the Big 10 and the Big 10 would probably f them over too, haha.  Poor aggy

How long would they have to take a partial share in the Big 10? They can't afford a pay cut.

BROWN: Reliving the Mark Stoops era though emails sent to former Texas A&M AD Ross Bjork

Former Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork most likely never noticed the automated wording that sat atop some of the emails he received while in Aggieland, alerting him of the possibility of a cyber scam.

“You don’t often get email from…”

However in the approximately three-day span from Nov. 25, 2023 to Nov. 27, 2023, more than 300 emails flooded his inbox, headlined with warning, becoming somewhat of a refrain for the weekend.

The Mark Stoops era of Aggie football might have only lasted a few hours in the twilight of Nov. 25, but it certainly tested the storage limits of Bjork’s email account — a fact that he was keen to bring up, with a chuckle, after the hiring of current head coach Mike Elko.

Those with a dark sense of humor — or anyone who holds a public-facing job in sports — can see there is plenty of laughs to be found in emails sent to Bjork during those fateful hours. So, via an open records request, The Eagle obtained all of them that pertained to coaches, coaching hires or Mark Stoops. Due to the volume of the request, and an appeal by A&M to the state attorney general for some messages containing legal advice to be withheld, the cache was not released until months after the initial request made in late December.

It’s been long enough, right? For Aggie fans, this is one of those “We’ll laugh about this when we’re older” situations, no?

For those who can’t remember — or have wiped the episode from their brains as a trauma response — reports surfaced shortly after A&M’s regular season ending loss at LSU that the Kentucky head man would replace Jimbo Fisher in Aggieland. No one has forgotten that Fisher was sent packing with a $77 million golden parachute on Nov. 12, shortly after the Aggies’ win over Mississippi State. Ultimately, at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning, Stoops issued a statement on X that said he was staying in Lexington, Ky., after confirming he was “contacted about an opportunity.”

Bjork has since moved on to be the athletic director at Ohio State.

Almost every email compared Stoops’ career record (73-65) with Fisher’s A&M record (70-45) and called back to a Bjork comment after Fisher’s firing.

“You know how you’re driving down the highway — it’s a four-lane road and I drive fast,” Bjork said during a press conference after Fisher’s firing. “I like 75-80 and somebody’s in the left lane and they’re going 55 and they won’t move over. We were that car going 55. Something had to give.”

Fittingly, Stoops’ record in the SEC is 35-55, something that nearly every email posed as evidence.

“You said you didn’t like going 55 in the fast lane… so you’re gonna go 60?,” one email rebutted.

Most emails were cordial and professional, listing out a myriad of arguments why current Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops would be a perilous hire for the Aggies. A large number reflected Shakespeare’s view that, “Brevity is the soul of wit.”

“76 Million for Mark Stoops. Bruh……” Short and to the point.

Does anyone else see the irony in an emailer, whose job title reads “Candy Wizard” as an employee of a candy company, writing: “Ross, I think you’re amazing, but man all the Aggies I know are just sick over this hire.”

Too much of a good thing, am I right?

A pastor, identified as such in his email signature, voiced his opinion saying the hire is “unacceptable.” An email signed by “An Aggie who Cares too much” used the word exculpated in his message. For reference (I had to look it up), to exculpate is to “show or declare that (someone) is not guilty of wrong doing.”

Another called the potential Stoops hiring an appalling decision.

“I can’t be sure that it was your call, but I hope that this email address of yours serves as the official synthesizer of the deluge of utter contempt that will rain down on the university leadership as a result of this abomination,” it read.

Making the A&M English department proud.

In total, there are 36 calls for Bjork to resign or to be fired, 29 threats to pull donations and 34 vows to cancel season ticket orders.

In those emails, the true comedic gold was mined.

One email, which came in just after midnight on Sunday morning, began its prose with this preface: “I’m emailing you from my student’s email account, because what I have to say to you I can’t say on my work email address.”

It continued with his ultimatum (complete with 14 exclamation points, all of which I counted), “If what I’m hearing on the news and also reading on the internet is true — and you’ve hired Mark Stoops — then you can take my season tickets and shove them where the sun don’t shine. I’m done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

An account fraudulently posing as the wife of Exxon Mobil CEO Darren Woods, an A&M former student, issued a profanity-laden diatribe that threatened to pull all donations if the hire goes through. However, it also promised an increase of $100 million in donations, should Bjork hire Ohio State head coach Ryan Day.

“If [the Stoops hire] goes through, then we are calling an emergency meeting tomorrow morning and [expletive]-canning your [expletive]. Be prepared to reap the whirlwind,” it read.

The filthiest of messages can be credited to an emailer who signed his message with, “Love, Kevin.” In keeping with the trend, Kevin threatened to cancel his season tickets if the hire goes through, calling Bjork a “spineless piece of [expletive].

“[Expletive] you, [A&M System Chancellor John] Sharp, and the horse you rode in on,” the email said.

Several emails were sent by armchair athletic directors, waiting in the wings. One offered his services to Bjork saying, “Feel free to give me a ring at my cell below and we can figure this out together.”

As was revealed by emails in the cache, Bjork and the university used sports and entertainment headhunter, TurnkeyZRG, during the search. However, the thrifty move would have been taking one of the 16 candidates offered up — free of charge — by emailers.

Former Arizona, and current Washington, head coach Jedd Fisch was the overwhelming favorite, with 30 separate mentions in the messages. Former A&M defensive line coach Elijah Robinson, now at Syracuse, tied with Day with eight endorsements. Elko received six.

Others mentioned were UTSA head coach Jeff Traylor, new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, Ole Miss head coach Lane Kiffin, Troy head coach Jon Sumrall, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart, Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and retired head coach Urban Meyer.

One email laid out an extensive case for former South Florida head coach Jim Leavitt, who hasn’t held a head coaching position since 2009 and has been out of football since 2021.

“Jim is an ‘Old Dog’ that has been to the rodeo a couple of times. He knows what it takes to build a program,” the email said.

The record for number of emails sent by one person was six, with two separate individuals sharing the crown. Also, four emailers identified themselves as former A&M athletes.

Of course, the pandemonium that took over social media and the message boards that evening sparked the interest of A&M’s arch rival.

“I want to congratulate you on your recent hire of Mark Stoops!” an email read. “As a Texas Longhorn fan, I can only thank you for hiring a coach with an overall record of 73-64 and an SEC record of 33-55. The future is burnt orange in the state of Texas.”

The history books will ultimately state that Elko was the man for the job. Email communications on putting together a press release for the Elko hire began at approximately 4:15 p.m. on that Sunday. The completed memorandum of understanding, signed by A&M brass and Elko, was executed at approximately 12:57 on Monday, Nov. 27, according to the emails.

Eight emails through the course of the weekend denounced Elko as the correct hire, though many praised Bjork for bringing the former A&M defensive coordinator back.

“Attaboy,” one emailer, who had previously sent an email against Stoops, said.

“Never mind I could kiss you,” another read.

In all 300-plus emails, there was only one apology. An emailer, who congratulated Bjork on destroying his proud university Saturday night, gave an explanation of his actions on Sunday morning.

“Apologies for the angry email on Saturday night. I had too much to drink.”

In the bunch of emails obtained by The Eagle, this was the only message which garnered a response from Bjork. He forwarded the apology to his cabinet level of associate athletic directors with a simple message.

“So you want to be an AD…”

As much as I'd like to be free of aggy, (the T-day game could be piggy for all I care) I don't like the idea of the B1G having a recruiting footprint in Texas.
