May 30May 30 Was the $3M what the other candidates were asking for, or that's the Earley buyout that was too high? I'm pretty sure firing Earley would cost them $3M + $700k to fire the assistant HC/pitching coach + whatever the incoming coach buyout would be + a big contract to convince a coach at a real school to come to College Station where the Athletic Department is currently a dumpster fire. They were always going to retain Earley. This is Trev Alberts we're talking about. The funniest part of this may be that Earley just got a raise of $50k for the upcoming season. https://myaggienation.com/aggie_sports/baseball/details-on-texas-a-m-baseball-coach-michael-earley-s-contract/article_2c262cc5-101b-5254-92be-2138e56f5160.html Job well done!

We can only pay you $2M in cash but this nice National Championship Trophy with your name on it has got to be worth $1M, right?
May 31May 31 Popular Post Happy Friday night 🙂 (This guy's supposed to be an Aggie athletic dept. insider ... ) More? Narrator (in Morgan Freeman's Shawshank Redemption voice) - "Jace said "Let's go!". And he went. Went 4 for 48, with 25 strikeouts, to end the season." Even more? And ...
May 31May 31 Let’s see when push comes to shove and that portal opens how committed these players are to leaving. Isn’t Jace expected to go pro anyway?
May 31May 31 It's funny because, without the prospects of a new baseball coach, aggy can't fall back to the "this is the guy that's going to bring championships to the lit station". However, by the time January comes around, they'll convince themselves that Earley just needed a year to adjust, and they'll be winning it all in 2026.
May 31May 31 Maybe they're thinking "Earley just needs to bring 'his' guys in that play the way he demands"?
May 31May 31 UT baseball and softball are still playing. This has the potential to get so much worse (better). Neither Texas team is a juggernaut per se, but they have some clutchiness. I have to acknowledge while I predominantly root for our teams because I want to see Texas do well, there's also this part of me that wants to see us do well simply to watch the Aggies completely implode.

They fucking bring it on themselves. Their obsessive stalkyness means you can't ignore them even though they're not very frightening.
May 31May 31 Popular Post I firmly believe the old guard at Texas had some sympathy for ag, but the new guard? Nah, fuck you. When gomer went on their misinformation tour after the LHN was announced, and all the shit that followed. Gloves are off and gomer is feeling it. CDC left their baseball program like our country left Hiroshima.
May 31May 31 Their backchannelling for a head coach failed because they had what sounds like a short list of 3 and one was unrealistic, one said no, and one looks like he is going to MSU…. instead of being reasonable and having a real process they are instead going to make the same mistake as last time and let the pipedream of Early keeping the core via NIL and player “development” win the day. How many of their big “stars” are returning? Who thinks they will be able to now moneywhip players from the portal to choose A&M and Early in particular to be their last stop before the MLB draft? Last year they could sell hope and the illusion of the unknown. Now they have the specter of being swept by Mizzou and the dark cloud of almost firing their HC hang over their heads…
May 31May 31 they're not broke , they just couldn't upgrade of course. ME is where their program is. a developmental program that has to take chances that they grab a winner and hope he doesn't leave. their athletic department is trash and doesn't even register in the history of ncaa sports. if it wasn't for the sec weirdly talking them up all the time they would be irrelevant like usual.

CDC left their baseball program like our country left Hiroshima. This is why the old guard had sympathy for those pathetic scrappy oddballs: Modern Era of College football begins. We all know that. It's not some stupid invention. The decades of futility for the Aggies through the 40s, 50s, 60s, and 70s is what the oldest guard remembers. The Aggies became insufferable during the Jackie $herrill run. They truly believed that good had conquered ebil.

May 31May 31 Their executives evidently believe the same things that Texags Aggies think: They are a premier program who can get what they want whenever they want it. They think Jimbo loved the idea of coming to College Station. They separated the absurd contract that attracted him from Jimbo's positive statements about the Aggies. By doing so, they oddly took pride in both their appeal to big-time sitting Natty coaches and how rich they were that they could pay him. Jimbo was all:

May 31May 31 Hat tip to Kendall Rogers was exposing Trev/aggy money issues to a national audience. If Elko struggles they are uniquely fucked. They probably couldn’t afford to move on from him until completing the Jimbo buy out, right?
May 31May 31 Probably a question for the mods, or CTJ, but it feels like aggy fundraising is way down. Somebody important stopped writing checks. Retaining Earley is just the latest in flashing red lights that they’re broke.

Around 2031 aggy will be past the Jimbo contract, and equally important, the Trev Alberts disaster. What if, and that’s a big if, aggy gets lucky on the AD hire?

What if, and that’s a big if, aggy gets lucky on the AD hire? Previous ADs are now at LSU, Alabama, and Ohio State. And I never thought any of them were all that great. My assumption is if they get lucky on the AD hire he'll be hired by someone else and get him and his family out of College Station as soon as possible.

The biggest backer has paid for more shit since 2018 than probably any donor anywhere besides Phil Knight and that is no slight to big NIL people at Texas or elsewhere. Dude is a trader at his core. If he’s not seeing a win in the deal, he’s out fully. I think they’ve hit that kind of wall with the baseball team’s performance and the backing of the football roster.
May 31May 31 This is called 'gravy'.From our vantage point, the juice was with the squeeze. Keep it up Aggy, we love juice.eta, I have rethought this. In no way do we want anything Aggy squeezed!

June 1Jun 1 Over in Texags they are talking about how he made fun of them when it was the idiot battle with Mark May. Really how stupid are they? Writing that AD contract when they are about to cost cut, as if they need a special AD for that shit Every coaching search is pie in the sky. A sum designed to be rejected with low guaranteed NIL. They then say "we tried" and go for the cheapest coach possible.
