I still think about that every time I drive by.) JMMC, (But I only invested in 1 beef rib at the time!) 😉 Whatcha got?

We miss them for the nostalgia and the memories that came with them. I'll say: Alligator Grill Curra's on Burnet (used to live closer to the one on Oltorf, but we went to the Burnet location when we move from South Austin)

I think they had dollar long necks too maybe?

It moved out to Bastrop Highway and disappeared shortly thereafter. You could buy her mole sauce and tamales at the farmers market for a while but that disappeared also. To date, the best tamales and mole I've ever had in Texas.
May 11, 20187 yr Mikes Pub 2Js Casa de Castillo The original Vivo Babe’s (I don’t remember if the food was good, but the place was awesome as a kid.)

May 13, 20187 yr I’ve lived here since 1991 and considering the changes to Austin it would seem like I would have a long list. Alligator grill is the probably highest on my very short list. Edited May 13, 20187 yr by Larry T. Spider

May 15, 20187 yr I liked Waterstreet that was in the building that's now been Sam's Boat for a decade plus. That part of town had no options like it then. You could do a decent piece of fresh fish and a wedge salad for like 8 bucks, and it was close to my office. Still is actually but different office/company.
May 15, 20187 yr Not so much a restaurant, but I miss when the various Texas French Breads would all bake their own bread. The one on Red River sustained me.

It now shares the building with a couple other tenants, including a Filipino place I've been wanting to check out. We haven't been to that Suzi's since it re-opened. The Suzi's off South Lamar relocated to Rollingwood, but closed a few years ago I believe. I think my affection for Suzi's is mostly nostalgia, since I think there are better Asian places in town, but I'd be willing to go back to confirm.
May 22, 20187 yr I haven't been back since it reopened either, but I share your opinion on there being "better" options.

May 23, 20187 yr Ray’s steakhouse on Guadalupe was fucking awesome and the owners was nice as hell. It was a little before it’s time. Had he opened in 2009 rather than 1999 the steakhouse would be thriving today. (Yes I know the owner died in 2010)
May 23, 20187 yr Carmen's La Tapatia on E. 6th. I went to junior high a couple blocks away, and dinner there was my reward after every awards banquet, band concert, etc.
