January 13Jan 13 HBO was showing last season this weekend and I watched a few episodes. I totally missed this the first time I watched it. In the last episode fter the guys fight in the water and Ethan and Daphne walk to the point. She gives him the look and he hesitates, but then they disappear up the hill. We never know exactly what happens but I assume the fucked. Don't know how I didn't get that the first time.
February 17Feb 17 Good start to the season. The opening credits with the Ramakien style murals was cool. The opening scene in the resort, before the gunshots, with the monkeys, the lotus ponds, and the koel calling reminded me of places I've stayed over there.
February 17Feb 17 Wasn’t expecting to see Uncle Rico again. The press had Natasha Rothwell (Belinda - wellness lady from Hawaii) as the only returning character. Love the cast, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, and especially Walton Goggins.
February 17Feb 17 The Southern accents were really bad, to me. Apart from that, the familiar feeling of overall weirdness from all the main characters.

I thoughts Isaacs was okay for a Brit. I don't know what Parker Posey was doing. I think there's a lot of potential with that family. The parents were fighting over where the youngest would go to school. The older brother and sister also seemed to be competing over the younger brother but with weird incesty vibes.
February 18Feb 18 The older brother 1000000% has done bad shit to the sister. She wants nothing to do with him and clearly she as trying to protect her gay (unknown to the parents I’m sure) brother away from him.

February 19Feb 19 So the brother wants to fuck the sister, and the other brother wants to fuck the brother? Well, ok HBO.
February 19Feb 19 Because I can't help myself..... bets on who the shooter is? My picks... 1. The driver at the hotel that has a crush on the K-Pop star. 2. Carrie Coon's character 3. Baby Billy. Speculation he is the son of the hotel owner.

Yeah, Isaacs is British. It took me awhile to place it but Posey's character sounds just like Patricia, who is the old lady on Southern Charm (yes, I watch that shit). Anyway, definitely a slow set up for what the future scenes look like it's going to get pretty wild. The Uncle Rico reveal was awesome!

February 20Feb 20 Opening credits looked incredible in 4k, and feel like they did a pretty good job with ‘show, don’t tell’ for a season opener to establish quickly…pet peeve of mine is lazy writing via blatant cop outs like expository dialog or a character listening to KPLOT radio.
February 20Feb 20 Hotel owner is Scott Glenn. I hope Uncle Rico catches a stray. This show looks great in 4K. Now 3 for 3 in douchey bro characters per season. Michelle Monaghan is doing well taking roles where she's the mid 40s hot. I think it's a shootout between the guards and the Gaitok over Mook. The English subtitles with the Thai symbols underneath when Gaitok and Mook were talking was a cool touch. Edited February 20Feb 20 by mdmost
February 20Feb 20 The way this show introduces characters is so well done, going back to the first season. There have been a lot of shows with large ensemble casts, where you're in episode four going "Wait, now is he the brother? I thought the other guy was the brother.... Is she his mom...?" But with White Lotus, halfway through the first episode you know exactly who everyone is and what their relationships are with each other. Part of that I'm sure is the structure of the show allows it to work better, but it's still well done.

February 21Feb 21 Just binged s1 and 2 over the last few days Why was season 2 so fucking tedious and dumb? Now I’m scared for s3
February 21Feb 21 so we meet 3 chicks who have been pals since high school and carrie coon is the loser? ok.

Lmao yea Lisa is from the biggest female K-Pop group in the world (Blackpink) and easily the biggest celebrity in Thailand. Dating an Arnault. First time acting though. Apparently the cast was not expecting how big of a celebrity she was there. Would.

February 22Feb 22 I hope Uncle Rico catches a stray.I think it would be hilarious if they keep him as a background character with no relevance to this season’s plot and no dialogue, then he gets accidentally killed in the crossfire.

February 23Feb 23 Parker Posey’s is especially egregious It’s not though. She sounds almost exactly like an older woman on Southern Charmed. It’s not a typical southern accent.
February 23Feb 23 Parker Posey grew up in small-town Louisiana and Mississippi. Sure, she might not normally use a Southern accent in public, but I'm sure she's been around it enough to pull off what she grew up hearing. It could be comical, but that wouldn't be the first time I've heard an authentic (but absurd) Southern accent. Hell, any of us who grew up in Texas or the South could pull off the same trick and possibly sound equally funny or exaggerated. I dunno. Input that data into your bullshit-o-meters and come to your own conclusions.
February 23Feb 23 Yeah. All southern accents are not the same. Parker’s might be specific to North Carolina.
February 24Feb 24 Whatever you think of it, she has definitely made a choice and I respect the commitment.
February 24Feb 24 Parker Posey’s accent may be off a bit but she was funny in this episode. Also, I’m fairly sure that was Ke Huy Quan, aka Short Round, on the other end of the phone call. Poor Gaitok getting friend zoned. Hope it works out for him. Edited February 24Feb 24 by LonghornSean

Yeah, her accent's off, but some of that might be PP trying to act high while doing it. Yes, that was absolutely him. I had to pause to look it up. Gaitok's gonna get himself in trouble trying to prove his manliness.
February 24Feb 24 I enjoyed episode 2, but it's really slow moving. I know they're setting a bunch of things up, so hoping it'll be worth the wait.
