my feeling was that the $100k would be more as a "gift" to "suggest" silence would be the best idea. $5m definitely makes it a mutual binding agreement, even without the paperwork. once they came in with a high offer, he probably got scared that she would actually say something if he didn't pony up.

Agree. $100k was a low-ball opener to provoke them into a counter. And all he was asking for was to allow him to invest in her business the way Tanya wanted, while they extort millions to not say anything about his whereabouts. His statements about just wanting to be left alone were pretty ambiguous.

The bank would have flagged that shit immediately lol

Yes.

My million dollar pimping fees got flagged for years.

I'm not sure what big secret Belinda held over Gary.   He didn't kill her and she has nothing about his she died.   She didn't know anything about him settling her up with the gays to breach the prenuptial.  All she knows is that he's living in Thailand, under a different name, and spending a shit ton of money.

He was great and he was there anyway as he is Leslie Bibb’s longtime SO.

The lead gay was his old friend/lover who is now dead. He had a picture of him and Gary/Greg at his villa. Belinda read that the Italian authorities wanted to question him about her death. If he's questioned, his past and involvement with the gays could've been easily found out.

She's a loose end. Whose money is he spending? That of the dead woman he married under a different name.

He just wants to hang out in Thailand and watch Chloe bang dudes while he walks in on them. 5 million means he doesn't have to worry about lingering Tonya issues. Small price to pay for his peace of mind.

With that kind of greed from Belinda and her fuckhead “businessman” son, it would have been way cheaper than $100k to disappear both of them.  Zion and Belinda fed to the crabs would have been fine with me.

i didn’t like Belinda hitting the lottery. Or Lochlan living after dying.

The son was effectively depicted as a fuckhead. Even pulled Ellis comps. Mission accomplished.

Last episode you thought Belinda and son could/should be disappeared. Mission accomplished.

Belinda chose money over love. She lost. Became a hypocrite. Mission accomplished.

Mike White told a story that could have ended badly and did in a way. It started as the least compelling story and was elevated.
none of the North Carolina people died before Mr. Duke finding out that he was in the clear.

I’ve seen a few people say that Timothy Ratliff was in the clear, but was there actually something in the show that suggested this, or is it just speculation? I thought Saxon’a reaction when he turned on his phone was his realization that something bad had happened.

Just speculation about how we expected their story to end.

Nothing was said but the look Saxon gave after he checked his phone said he knew what was going on. Not getting to see Parker Posey go off one final time might be a miss but I liked the way they left it.

Are you against the people who extorted a murderer? Weird.

From Variety:

Did you think #TheWhiteLotus Season 3 was too slow? Creator Mike White sounds off: "If you don’t want to be edged, then get out of my bed." “There was complaining about how there’s no plot. That part I find weird. It never did… part of me is just like bro, this is the vibe. I’m world building. If you don’t want to go to bed with me then get out of my bed. I’m edging you! Enjoy the edging. If you don’t want to be edged, then get out of my bed. Do you know what I mean? Don’t be a bossy bottom. Get the f*ck out of my bed. Don’t come home with me. Don’t get naked in my bed. Get the f*ck out of my bed. Obviously something is going to happen.”

I thought the whole season was a way too slow burn. Overall, it was worth watching, but I felt myself wanting more plot progress. Other random thoughts:

1. It seemed like they did a good job of capturing the complex interaction between female friends. I thought that was pretty good.

2. Parker Posey was pretty pretty good.

3. Rick's girlfriend has got a little something and has probably just cemented future roles in movies as the cute, fun, deep girl.

4. Sam Rockwell's speech was gold.

5. I would have liked to see Woody Harrelson as Rick; it would have brought more lightheardedness to a dark subject.

6. Dang, Mook is hot, but why is she attracted to a guy 15 years older than her.

7. The whole Belinda plot arc missed, from start to finish.

Overall, not bad, but not great either.

You don't have to pay taxes on gifts received

Hey wait, they never went back to that awkward exchange between Parker Posey and the Austin cougar. I thought at the time Posey was hiding something, but maybe the point really was that she was so high she didn't remember that entire weekend. Weird storytelling.

Sure. That or she just saw everyone else as so beneath her that remembering people at parties just doesn't register to her any longer. The "we live better than kings" talk with Piper spoke to that.

Yep, that's what I took from it.  Kate wasn't important enough to be remembered.

Just because she had money didn't mean Kate wasn't trashy.

I don’t think it’s that big of a separation. Lisa is almost 30. Also, he’s shredded.

I read that they made him stop lifting because they wanted Gaitok to look more like a pussy

ya I looked up their relative ages after I typed that and found they were only 7 years apart. She looks very young in the show, and he looks like a middle aged man. Weird.

I’d say most parents on here would have a similar reaction to a child figuring out they will return to their life rather than choosing to reject everything about them.

This was pretty good, but it would’ve been better with Elon playing the Sam Rockwell part talking about sticking a Tesla charger up his ass while watching himself play video games.

This would assume that he's actually capable of putting out a hit on two people. I thought part of the mystery is that we didn't even have proof that he was involved. And capable of killing more.

Anyway, I just finished. Probably 6.5/10. Entertained. Could have used way more Carrie Coon, especially topless, but she has the best monologue overall obvs. The family arc..... Annoying, but I mean we could all see that ending for them, right?

Gaitok won't last with Mook. He won't enjoy losing his soul to be a fake man with that girl.

Two episodes in. Boring. What a waste of Goggins and Coon. The humor seems to be mostly laugh at the dumb Southerners even though their cliches. It also feels as much Thailand travelogue as a TV show.

I watched season 1 when it came out.

got an episode in on season 2

and just finished season 3

I had no clue about Gary Greg or whatever mystery, was kinda lost there  but I knew he was hookin up with the gilf woman in season 1, that one that got the Emmy

Wait for it. Once Sam Rockwell appears, it picks up.

Rachel clearly explained how it happened in great detail in the final episode. She’s a mediocre journalist. Aimless, attempting to live in NYC. When he left her at the dinner table, reality of loneliness and divorce hit. When she asked for advice, Belinda was like “Im out of it”.

She chose the path of least resistance.

I can’t believe people think the Rachel Shane thing is implausible.  Seen girls far smarter than Rachel stay in crappy relationships
