March 6Mar 6 An American Airlines first class passenger on a delayed flight departing Las Vegas reportedly called 911 trying to get police to force the flight to leave. Reportedly he was “high as a kite.” When you’re high it’s not the best time to call police. And police aren’t going to force the Airbus A321 to fly. A delay is going to be for a good reason – the airline wants to depart on-time and officers won’t second guess them and lack the authority to in any case. Video shows the passenger taken off the aircraft by police, “7 cops carried him off.”

March 22Mar 22 The Jews Did This? A constipated United Airlines passenger who spent more than 30 minutes in the airplane bathroom was pulled out with his pants still around his ankles by an irate pilot who broke down the door and then had the humiliated customer frogmarched off the aircraft in handcuffs by law enforcement and detained in a CBP facility. Details of the bizarre but alarming incident have just been revealed after an astonishing lawsuit was filed in a New York district court by the victim, Yisorel Liebb, a visibly Jewish passenger who was allegedly subjected to antisemitic abuse by the enraged pilot. With echoes of the infamous Dr. David Dao drama that occurred on a United Airlines plane in 2018, Liebb says he was left screaming out in pain as Customs and Border Protection officers bent his arm and deliberately tightened handcuffs after he asked the reason why he was being detained. According to court documents, the incident occurred on January 28 when Liebb and a friend boarded United flight UA-1601 from Tulum, Mexico, to Houston. Shortly after takeoff, Liebb went to use the restroom, but after 20 minutes of being inside the lavatory, a flight attendant became concerned and fetched Liebb’s friend to see why he had been gone for so long. Liebb’s friend made contact with him through the lavatory door and relayed to the flight attendant that he was suffering from constipation but should be out soon. Ten minutes passed, and there was still no sign of Liebb. At this point, one of the pilots got involved and ordered Liebb’s friend to coax him from the lavatory. When Liebb didn’t immediately leave the restroom, the pilot allegedly began yelling at him. Liebb tried to reassure the pilot that he “was just finishing up” and would leave the restroom very soon, but the pilot became “visibly enraged” and broke the lock to force the door open. The pilot then allegedly pulled Liebb out of the bathroom with his pants still down around his ankles, exposing his genitals to all of the passengers sitting in the vicinity of the restroom. At this point, the pilot then allegedly made antisemitic remarks about Liebb and “how Jews act.” Once on the ground, however, the pair’s ordeal at the hands of United Airlines was not finished. Unbeknownst to them, the pilot had arranged for the plane to be met by law enforcement, with CBP officers boarding the plane and demanding that everyone remain seated. The officers then made a beeline for Liebb and his friend, pulled them from their seats, and handcuffed them. They were both taken to a Homeland Security facility where they were handcuffed to tables and subjected to “intrusive, unconsented, unwarranted and unreasonable searches.” Liebb claims he sustained injuries to his head and legs as he was pulled from the bathroom, as well as wrist pain from being handcuffed too tight. The pair are demanding compensation from United under Article 17 of the Montreal Convention, which makes airlines responsible for injuries by passengers during an international flight. In the wake of the Dr. David Dao incident, United Airlines drastically changed the way it dealt with non-compliant passengers, with flight attendants trained to de-escalate incidents as far as possible and to avoid physical intervention if at all possible. Flight attendants at the airline often say they are there to advise and report rather than to enforce, allowing United to take follow-up action after the fact. In some rare cases, however, United still trains aircrew to physically restrain passengers should their behavior become so disruptive that they pose an immediate risk to safety,

March 22Mar 22 My kid has major bowel issues due to his neurological condition. I could easily see him spending half an hour in a bathroom on a plane if things were not going well. That pilot should lose his license and get fucked. What a bizarre response, and if the reporting is accurate, it sounds like he may be one of those modern-day nazis who feel so emboldened lately. That story make so little sense it's difficult to believe there isn't more to it, but if it went down even remotely as reported it's really scary that a guy with those kind of rage issues could get licensed and hired to fly a commercial plane.

I got food poisoning in bangalore that set in on my connecting flight from bangalore to frankfurt. Constipation was not my problem. The flight attendants would check on me every hour or so to make sure I was still alive. I think they did ask me to open the door a couple of times under the guise of giving me water. If memory serves, I did have my pants on.

People losing their shit along the way has never made any sense to me. Couple of anecdotes - VERY tangentially related… - My family (all 7 of us) were traveling to Boston for an extended family event. My youngest was around 10 months and was feeling kinda shitty. He whined for most of the flight. As most parents know, your own kid whining/crying on the flight is FAR worse for us than it is for someone else. And likely even worse for the kid. Business trip a-hole 1 row behind was sitting there for the entire trip shaking his head, groaning, etc. Oh well. My 10 month old son had a stomach ache and filled his diaper on descent - Traveling from HOU to SFO in early 90s, a woman had a heart attack 2 rows in front of me. I randomly look up and see a persons head hit the seat in front of her. Her row-mates realize there is an issue and alert the staff. Since it was early in the flight, we do an emergency landing in El Paso - somewhat harrowing. Fortunately, there was an ER doc from Ben Taub and a cardiologist on the flight. They saved her life. - On an international trip to Taipei in late 2010s, I got upgraded to first class on a United 747. We’re sitting on the tarmac for an extended time. Guy next to me is pounding Mai Tais, preparing for the 12 hour slumber. Well, flight gets canceled and he’s hammered. We go to the United lounge to try to rebook and he’s convinced (despite at least a half dozen counter-proofs) that EVA has a seat he can get on. He gets pissed off, yells at the helper - and those in line, for good measure. Storms out of the United First Class Lounge to head over to EVA to get that non-existent seat. We all celebrated his exit. Otherwise, I have lucked out. I’ve told the story here but I got to watch a fat girl in pajamas get kicked off a flight because she wouldn’t move her body pillow and shit out of the aisle, then she called the FA a homophobic slur. She was right next to me. I had much satisfaction.

If the story is as reported then fuck that pilot. However, it appears that a majority of the of the story is pulled from the plaintiff's petition. I have some reservations that the friend, who according to the article complied with the FA and pilots requests and did nothing wrong, was removed from the aircraft and interrogated. I also find suspect that after the pilot ripped him out of the bathroom that the pilot yelled "thats how jews act!" I used to do BBQ cookoffs and we had a designated women's port-o-let in out tent. One night we saw a guy enter but it was late so we didn't bust his chops. He was in there for a long time, around 30 minutes. Some women needed to use the restroom so we asked him to leave. We would knock on the door and tell him the needed to ago and he wouldn't respond or he would give a bullshit response. We eventually forced the door open and dragged him out, pants around his ankles. He was drunk as shit and terribly embarrassed. I am sure his version of events is very different from the truth.

March 24Mar 24 I can see a pilot and passengers being concerned if someone is in the plane restroom for 30 minutes. The only reason that I can think someone is in there that long is if they have mobility issues and/or they're attempting to clean up a tremendous mess.
