"At this point I'd be surprised if he doesn't have at least have a cup of coffee in the league. His size, athleticism, and defensive prowess give him a great base to build from. If he stays another year and has a reliable jumper then he will be drafted after his senior year. Oh, and I would hope that we can get him an invite to the NBA combine after this season. Letting scouts see his physical attributes up close and in person will have him on their radar for next year."

You were literally making the argument I am in this thread from February. You were hyping Roach as a NBA player that could be drafted, but now there's really no chance he could be a first rounder in a weak draft class. Amazing.

What has changed since February?

You are such a beating. Glad you are so excited about his struggles in an all star game. You foaming at the mouth wanting Shaka to fail as some sort of fucked up Rick Barnes tribute is beyond tired.

There's a valid reason why NBA teams are interested.

Currently #38 in the '19 ESPN Mock Draft. I'm going to guess some of those guys enter the '18 draft or don't declare for the '19 draft. So Roach is right near the first round bubble in current '19 mock drafts. Granted, mock drafts aren't always accurate.

Roach has physical tools that should be attractive to NBA teams. Derka was making this very argument in February, but for some reason his narrative has now shifted. Derka is now saying "Roach has never looked like a NBA player other than when he's dunking" when just 2 months ago he was hyping Roach as a NBA player.

Your obsession with me is noted. By everyone. Now Let. It. Go. You take the most innocuous comment that nobody here would argue with (Roach has never looked like an NBA player) and you immediately run over to your backlog of every single one of my 89,000 posts and you try to start a fight over it. You didn’t want to converse, or debate, or talk like a normal person, you wanted to fight. Period. That is peak Derka.  All you wanted to do was start a fight, and you succeeded. The rest of this board coined the term “Derka’d” because of that exact behavior. You have a problem man.

Fight? Again, don't cry wolf when you get called out for shifting your narrative. Just two months ago you were arguing Roach was a NBA player and now you don't think he is. What changed in two months?

You are the dumbest person on this website. You arguments are weak as fuck, and more than anything insanely obsessive. Once again, you are behaving like peak Derka, and I don’t mean that in no nice way. You’re a lunatic. I have severe mental illness- what’s your excuse?

And to answer your latest dumbass, obsessive question, saying, “I’d be surprised if he doesn’t at least have a cup of coffee in the NBA” is NOT a ringing endorsement of a guy as a future pro! Jesus. It’s tantamount to saying that he’s going to at least get a tryout. Just stop.

Fuck off man. I know he’s *your* pal, but there is zero denying that his behavior towards me is 100% dumb and obsessive. And this goes back a very long time. I post that Roach has never looked like an NBA player and two seconds later he’s quoting a quote of a quote from two years ago where I said that Roach could one day be a lottery pick if he ever became something that he’s never become, and you don’t call that dumb and obsessive? The rest of his chain of combative posts which never even approach me “changing my narrative” aren’t dumb and obsessive? That fight he started wasn’t combative and petty? I mean we’re talking about Roach’s draft prospects one second and the next second he’s all, “you’re a fucking liar, why do you just go around lying?!?!” That wasn’t him posting something that is the definition of “senseless”? Get real. I’m sure there’s a thread somewhere where he’s a good poster who isn’t dumb, but this is the exact opposite of that and that is an undeniable fact.

Tell you what- I’ll spend the next two years following you around, constantly starting dumb and petty fights which are clearly personal in nature. Let me know if you think I’m dumb and obsessive at that point.

Uh yes. 100%. I could not have been more clear about that. I literally said that.

Good for him. From what I understand school is very important to him so finding the right type of school was his most important objective.

I think that's pretty much as good of a fit for Banks as he could get. Great news for the kid and wish him nothing but the best. Didn't play much but he was ALWAYS into the game, cheering on his teammates, doing his part.

On the '19 draft... If I'm an NBA team and if Sims and Roach are projected that highly in the '19 class, I'm trading away all my draft picks and loading up for another year. That's a lot of guaranteed money going to players that I don't think will pan out in the league.

So is it ok to keep calling out your stupidity and how dumb your takes are on everything, or is that being insensitive to the mentally ill?

A coach I was hoping Shaka would look at is Mike Peck. Currently an assistant at UTSA. His wife just recently started following our entire coaching staff which is interesting.

I haven no clue if Shaka is interested, but I would love Peck at Texas.

Yeah he looks good. Nice resume. Also seems to be a good teacher. That’s a big deal with freshmen- lots of HS studs got to just roll the ball out and hoop, and they struggle initially with learning concepts and having them become second nature. A good, young teacher would be a good addition to this staff with all of our youth.

Also of note, a Louisville insider crystal balled Ramey to Texas on Tuesday. It looked like Ramey was a long shot but starting to think we are going to land him.

It's my understanding that we have 2 scholarships to give right now with 1 of those belonging to Roach if he decides to come back.  It looks like Ramey and cremo are the main targets for that final spot.  Which would we rather have? Personally I would take Ramey due to him likely being here for 3 or 4 years instead of 1 with Cremo.  What are y'alls thoughts?

Cremo in a heartbeat. Ramey would be a freshman, and there's no guarantee whatsoever he sticks around for multiple years, not sure why you think that. Cremo would be a senior who shoots lights out, quite possibly the perfect compliment to Coleman's game.

Please. DO is a big who can handle, pass, shoot, and finish around the rim, a huge improvement over the parade of crap bigs Barnes brought through here over the years, don't even get me started on the laundry list.

They have 2 right now, if Roach leaves they have 3 scholarships available. Perhaps you're thinking of Jones.

Cremo and it's not even close. Not only because Cremo is an instant impact player on next year's team, but the guards coming out in the 2019 and 2020 class are wayyyyyyy better than Ramey. I'd rather one of them get that scholi.

I don't think this is true at least in Texas.

Maxey is the only guard ranked higher than Ramey in the '19 class. He's probably a one and done and there's a good chance he picks Kentucky.

RJ Hampton in the '20 class is likely headed to Duke. Another one and done. Cade Cunningham is likely headed to Kentucky and will also have potential to be a one and done.

I haven't really looked at the guard options beyond Texas, but Ramey is the type I think Shaka should be recruiting. A really good player that's going to be here for 3 or 4 years.

If that's the case I'd still rather have Roach than Ramey.

Oh, I would for sure rather have Roach. But I don't think it's an either or if Jones doesn't return.

Texas has room for Roach, Ramey and Cremo.

Are you thinking that Jones would take the entire year off? Even if it's only half the year I see Jones coming back next year, but who knows?

Damn.  I hadn't paid much attention to the BBall board here, since the season ended so recently.  But I come over here (given some of the news about Ramey, today), and see that BWG is posting here now?

Don't be dumb. Not every guy on the floor for us has to be NBA caliber. Dylan did a lot of important things for this team beyond the stats, and took a freaking beating throughout the season when the roster was getting thin.

A inside version of Javan Felix if you will.  Our team would've been much worse without Dylan Osetkowski this past season.

Felix was a decent shooter. Osetkowski sucks at it, and his rebounding was pathetic as well. All his advanced metrics were the lowest of his career this past season. Osetkowski deserved every bit of the beating he took, because he was a very shitty player last year.

A 13.4/7.2 guy that played a critical role in an 11 win team making the tournament is not a "shitty player".

Osetkowski certainly had issues last year but this is a god awful take.

Again, he was a big part of the team this year and we would've been worse without him. I take it you are "UTGrad" posting under a new name? You never have shit to say about our team that isn't negative so why would it be any different in regards to Oset?

Is it really a "massive" pick up, or is it just another one-and-done who will put a decent but freshman-like season and then look to go pro? I guess I just have to wait to see him play. If he's like Coleman, then OK. If he can shoot, then OK. Is he a point or a shooting guard?

It's really unlikely that Ramey is a one and done. He's a 3 to 4 year player. Point guard, but I think he could play at the 2.

Edited by texasstrong12

Ostekowski is pretty awful. We would have been worse without him but that’s more an indictment of our squad than a positive for osetkowski.

Ramey is more of a PG than 2 guard. It will be interesting to see how the ball gets shared between him, Coleman, and Long. We really need Roach and/or Jones to come back to add some size on the defensive end.
