This is why I love this thread. You'll have 5 straight pages of garish shit, and then someone drops a GOAT level time piece. Is that 37mm?

Wife recently surprised me with this for our fifth anniversary.

Omega Seamaster 1976 Limited Edition. Released to commemorate Omega's 100-year partnership with the Olympic Games. 1976 was the last year analog mechanical timekeepers were used at the Olympics, before the subsequent shift to electronic quartz.

The lacquered tuxedo dial looks so much nicer than what I can catch in a photograph. Great size at 39mm, and pretty slim for a Seamaster at just 11.75mm with the domed crystal. And here's the wrist shot.

This is a great watch, but just for clarification, it was released in Baselworld 2018, it was inspired by the stopwatches at the 1976 Montreal Olympics .

True. Didn't mean to imply it was a vintage Omega from 1976, rather a modern watch with a 1976 design. They did a limited run of 2,032 pieces in a few different colors, which isn't super "limited" by Omega standards.

Omega's done some modern re-releases of vintage Seamaster designs really well, including the Seamaster 1948 and the CK859 from 1939.

Omega just released a reverse-panda Speedmaster Moonwatch. Lacquered dial, ceramic bezel, standard 3861 movement.

Starting price is $10.4K for the stainless steel, $48.6K for the gold.

Nice, but $10,400 for a SS Speedmaster is whack. I bought grey market brand new one with boxes, papers, and warranty card in 2018 for $3,479.00.

$10,400 is the list price, but most likely the price on the secondary will be MUCH higher with people wanting it now.

I suppose this was what I saw wrt the Snoopy Speedmaster. It was $10,400 at the Omega store in Taipei. Going through forums, people are willing to pay upwards of $20K for it.

If you know where I can a brad new Snoopy for < $5K, let me know because I'd be all over it.

Was that the previous generation with the 1861 movement? The current-gen base hesalite Speedy is $7.8K right now, and I wouldn't be surprised if it climbs above $10K in a few years as well, as long as people keep buying. Omega is getting more and more aggressive with their price hikes, all for small incremental changes. Ceramic bezel, lacquered dial, domed crystal, rhodium-plated indices, etc. are all nice but hardly major.

At this rate the Zenith El Primero will look more and more like an attractive alternative.

That new Omega is a great looking watch.

Honestly, every watch company has gotten way out over their skis on pricing. People keep paying it, so good for them I guess.

#3871

I got my BB58 GMT on 10/01, and the salesman "honored" the 09/31 price, which was $400 less.

Nothing about the watched changed. Tudor just wanted to hike up the price 8% to see if people really wanted it that much.
