October 24Oct 24 Chips 6/10. Vinegar with two points deducted for weird pickle aftertaste. Sandwich? Wet. Have not fully unsheathed it.
October 24Oct 24 Gosh. Is there any better, more enticing word to describe a sandwich than "wet?" Yeah, I didn't think so.
October 24Oct 24 Nice thread bump. I actually went to the OG Tommys the other day with coworkers. God damn huge tomato on my burger, I don’t get it but people here love it. Also not an in n out fan and started a huge argument on the dodger express after the game the other day

I haven't found a good salt and vinegar chip that wasn't too vinegar heavy, and I love vinegar flavors. Off to search for malt-vinegar potato chips.

They used to have this even at my kids' elementary school called Arts & Carts, which was an arts showcase with hotdog carts. They had those Sam's dogs, and, damn, I love them!

October 25Oct 25 Every 6-8 months my drunk brain thinks Jack in the Box is good. In the morning, I realize it still is not.

When I was in my sophomore year of college my girlfriend was the center midfielder on the soccer team. We both discovered weed and jack in the box tacos and their stuffed jalapeños that same year. She ended up losing her starting position until we broke up.

October 25Oct 25 I tried hattie bs last night. Do not go there. Chicken bland as fuck, spice level was meh and the flavor on the chicken was non existent outside of the spice. They didn't brine anything, the chicken wasn't even crunchy/crispy and they do no work at all to make the pieces of whole chicken more edible like the other big chicken chains. The pickles that came with it were ass tier. Mac n cheese was whatever. The waffles were dense crispy but way too heavy and not airy at all. Just a dense crispy mess of too much batter. Legitimately 2/10 Their damn hot was appropriately hot though I wonder what the shut the cluck up is like, but will never have it.

My wife likes a crispy chicken sandwich, and they make one with fried boneless thigh that’s not too big and is really good. And their Nashville hot is actually really good.
October 25Oct 25 "wet" food reminds me of the delicious Wet Fries at Texicalli Grille. Damn I miss that place. RIP Danny.

They're not my favorite hot chicken by a long shot, but I've had plenty of good meals at the one in Deep Ellum (moved to Oaklawn). The bird's nest (whatever they call it- fries, chicken, mac, etc) is awesome.

November 10Nov 10 Haven't eaten at McDonalds in a long time, but decided to remind myself yesterday with a double QP with cheese and some fries. Dude at the drive through asks me to pull up and they'll bring it right out. I expressly reminded him, " Make sure you put 5-6 ketchups in there, please. " He smiled and acknowledged. 15 minutes later, I get my burger, the bottom of the pan cold fries, because it's filled with the crumbs and tiny ones. No ketchup. Ya know? I brought that on myself, but also lesson learned. Don't ask yourself why you haven't had McDonalds in forever...

It's no slower. It's often faster. And I am 100% convinced they check your order more carefully when you're inside, because they know you can just stand there and make them fix it (which will make their life harder, so might as well get it right the first time). I only drive through for the simplest of things, IF the line looks short. Like, I'll swing through and grab a coffee or iced tea while running errands. Breakfast is something that's usually simple enough that you can risk the drive through. My wife made the mistake, while running our refugee charge around to soccer practices, of going through the drive through one night....at Popeyes. And yes, they totally fucked up the order. And yes, once they did, she laughed and explained "yeah...that's what we get for going through a Popeyes drive through."

Last time I tried that, I couldn't even get anyone to answer me on the intercom. There is no worse drive-thru on the planet than Popeye's.

The girl at the drive thru was nice and handed us our food, but the hey forgot his shake so we’re waiting. One of the dudes behind the counter came up behind her and hit her with a stun gun and she crumpled to the floor in a spasm. Dude just laughed. My cousin says “sonofabitch. That cocksucker is a parolee!” He went inside and called the cops, when they showed he showed his Paroles and probation ID and revoked his ass. Got an ambulance for the girl and told her to sue Whataburger. food got tossed as he wouldn’t eat where parolees worked. He knew almost all had aids. Went to jib.

Because for some reason, when I was maybe age 9-18, my old man and I would drive down to Galveston to fish early, and then on the way back to Houston around lunchtime, we'd be starving. And we'd often stop at the McD's in Dickinson to grab....a McRib. I still don't know why. My dad was a food snob in a lot of ways. But goddamn, he loved that damned sammich. And I developed a taste for it too. So, it tastes like "being really hungry after fishing all morning with my dad." Which is good.
