November 11Nov 11 I’ve never in my life had a McRib. I think that growing up on a hog farm and being somewhat of a pork bbq snob it has always offended me a little.

November 12Nov 12 BOGO double cheeseburger &/or footlong chili cheese coney every Tuesday & Thursday through 12/23 at Sonic. Fortunately my location is consistently solid, chick owner actually gives a shit.
November 12Nov 12 The snobbishness here from some in a guilty pleasure thread. I am team McRib, Arby’s gyro, Taco Bell enchirito, and JIB tacos.

I won't speak to others' food-snobbery, but I'd probably pick up any one of those on a road trip if those were my only quick options. But food snobbery aside, in any medium sized city, there always is a quick-but-much-better option for BBQ sandwich, gyro, enchiladas, or WP-tacos. That's not to say I don't have nostalgia for some of those food-orders (although as good as the enchirito might be, I don't recall ever ordering anything at T-Bell that required plastic ware). Maybe it's because, for example, Taco Bell isn't dirt-cheap anymore, and I have about half-a-dozen very good taco joints withing a few minutes of most Taco Bells around here. I am intrigued by that Arby's Gyro, but the last time I was in an Arby's was an overwhelmingly depressing experience. Edited November 12Nov 12 by dcbc

This reminded me of when my son worked at a Schlotzsky's while he was in high school. He was a huge King of the Hill fan and could imitate nearly all of the voices very well. When he worked the drive-through, he would use his Dale Gribble voice while the customer was at the menu board/order point, then his real voice when they pulled up to the window. When someone would comment on the voice that took the order, he would shake his head and say, in his best Hank Hill voice, "That boy ain't right." It got him laughs every time, and occasionally a tip.

Pizza!' promo, two large 1-toppings for $10. Hadn't been in probably 15+ years, my closest location is in the hood. Ordered online old world pepperoni & seasoned beef, they called right away saying they were out of the pepp, changed to Italian sausage. I was fucking shocked at the quality of both, may have helped that I ordered at a weird time & was the only two pizzas going then.
November 12Nov 12 I decided to try the steak nuggets at Arby's today. Drive thru only @dcbc, I already am at high risk of seasonal depression as winter approaches, no need to set foot in there and guarantee it. I'm not sure what I expected but it's burnt ends without sauce. Not a bad little protein snack, 5 piece (they gave me 6) for $5.89.

November 13Nov 13 Little Caesars is okay but you have to eat it within like an hour of getting it. As soon as any sort of reheating enters the equation it gets inedible in a hurry. I actually like the thin crust better and it's better leftover. I like a good McRib. Arby's gyro is solid but most stuff on their menu is good assuming the location is competent enough I guess. I have not gone in for the steak nuggets yet. I usually eat at taco bell maybe every 3 months but I've been a couple times in the last couple weeks I think. I'm a big fan of the cheesy double beef burrito they have on the "value" menu.

They used to have these "Market Fresh" sandwiches that were something you might expect to get at Panera (of that time period) or Corner Bakery. Really solid. So, of course, they discontinued them.

My current favorite from Arby's is the chicken Cordon Bleu. 2-2 on that sandwich.

Because for some reason, when I was maybe age 9-18, my old man and I would drive down to Galveston to fish early, and then on the way back to Houston around lunchtime, we'd be starving. And we'd often stop at the McD's in Dickinson to grab....a McRib. I still don't know why. My dad was a food snob in a lot of ways. But goddamn, he loved that damned sammich. And I developed a taste for it too. So, it tastes like "being really hungry after fishing all morning with my dad." Which is good. Possibly the most confusing sentence on surly considering the source

Not that different than what you'd get from some chain Mediterranean spot. The one they throw roast beef on is a little more adventurous I guess. There's nothing weird about it or off-putting.
November 13Nov 13 I had the roast beef one awhile back on a promo or some shit, pretty average. Turkey shit rocked, maybe I should storm corporate.

You can get a supreme luxe box (chalupa supreme, beefy 5-layer burrito, taco, choice of chips & cheese or cinnamon twists, and a drink for $7. That's wild. And everything at Bell tastes the exact fucking same, so no need for anyone to say they don't order those particular items 😁
