Yeah, Eddie's imitation of Tracy Morgan standing next to Tracy Morgan was next level.

Glad Villaseñor is getting some shine.

The fire skit was one of the more derivative sketches this season.

Edited by TheStoicPaisano

What if more everyday office personnel chicks started a trend set by non other than Aidy B..! The skit was quite funny in my humble opinion...

Guess it was just me that thought it was a bad episode. Black Jeopardy was the only skit that made me laugh.

I rarely watch SNL anymore but derivative of what?  All I could think of was how painfully unfunny it was.

Yeah the firefighter skit was painful, however I did think it was one if the better episodes lately. Two things I didn’t like: I just don’t get Cardi B and Weekend Update is just a Trump bashfest, which gets old. We get it.....you hate Trump.

Maybe if Trump quit doing stupid shit they wouldn't have anything to skewer him about. He keeps lobbing slow pitches right across the plate for the writers.

The Fokking cold open was great with DeNiro and Stiller. Jack Mulvaney's stand up was above average. Restaurant sketch was good but the end was kinda flat. High School kid w/boner was funny, Lobsters on Broadway was great. Jack White rocked. Weekend Update was very good. Kate killed as Laura Ingram so did Keenan as LaVar Ball. Hollywood Update sketch was funny. Horn removal was good. Jack White rocked some more. Real Intros of Reality Hills was funny.

Pretty damn solid episode. Mulvaney was very good. A

This was a good all around episode, which are rare these days.

Edited by Hugo Stiglitz

When the get genuinely funny people like mulvaney the episodes turn out well.

It’s kind of a no shit premise, but for me it makes those episodes worth watching. I skip or skim most of the other ones

Les Mis Lobster was one of the best things they’ve done in a while.  Was awesome.

Saw on twitter that he said he and Jost wrote that one in 2010 and it didn't make it past the table read.  Switcheroo in 2009 didn't make it past the table read either.  Pretty cool they could bring them back from the dead.

For fuck's sake

Solid episode. Watching Friendos with my 14 year old and she was rolling.

Holy shit the cold open was fantastic. Kate as Giuliani had tears in my eyes. I might have cracked a rib.

I get that but it just seems lazy to me.

I don’t get Donald Glover.  I cant stand him for some reason. That monologue was the least funniest one I’ve ever seen.

In a musical era defined by its lazy songs and simplistic, nonsensical lyrics, that one may stand alone.

But, take away the controversial video and what's left?:

Dope beat? Check

Catchy, repetitive as shit hooks? Check

Rest of song? Who gives a shit.

donald glover as childish gambino has never been known for the complexity of his lyrics, but this is a really odd song on which to hang this take.  when viewed in conjunction with the video (as is the obvious intent), the song/video have a painfully clear message beyond the surface of the lyrics.

(woo, conjunction junction)

I'm not sure that pointing out that is has to be consumed in conjunction with the video doesn't actually make my point, but I will digress, chalk it up as a taste thing, and stop thread-shitting.

I guess I am out of touch because that wasn't funny at all.

A Quiet Place is a horror movie currently in theaters where the monsters hunt by sound, so the people must use different forms of communication to avoid detection.

A Kanye Place sketch uses A Quiet Place as a setting where these survivors are unable to keep quiet due to the outrageous quotes by the rap singer Kanye West. Mr. West has been in the news for saying and doing unusual things in the media.

SNL uses pop cultural references to set the scene, but it also satirizes pop culture itself by showing that, even in the face of annihilation, society cannot resist this form of news entertainment.

The forms of comedy used include:
absurdity
cultural satire
pop references
irony
slapstick

Does that help?

The video serves it's function, as the images bring to light the absurdity & hypocrisy within the present day mainstream hip hop genre...

(This old school educational video could be considered more artistic than some of the current jibberish mumble rap that is trending)...

No it doesn't.

Here's a little follow up-

I know who Kanye is

know about his tweets

have seen the trailer for A Quiet Place and understand the premise of the movie

In my OPINION it wasn't a funny sketch.

I thought the Kanye Place sketch was like a lot of current SNL sketches.  Starts with a marginally amusing joke that just gets repeated over and over instead of developed, sketch fizzles and drags on too long.

Glover stepped all over that Jurassic Park sketch by deciding he was going to play some over the top Johnny Cochran type character, I guess?

Cold open was greatness. Lost it at Eric trying to parallel park his big wheel. Tina Fey hosting the season ender. Should be a good show.

Thought it was a pretty mediocre episode all things considered.

That said Alex Moffitt as Eric Trump brought the laughs.

I actually agree with you, it isn't funny after you realize that that is actually the way we behave and where our priorities lie.

Easily one of my favorite new characters. He and Mikey Day really work well together. The Prince Harry skit was a great example.
