December 26, 2024Dec 26 Overall it's been a good first half. Thing 2 episodes this pat month were a bit iffy...but i've enjoyed this cast a lot more than years past honestly. Been pretty good.

December 27, 2024Dec 27 I caught Michael Longfellow at the Dallas Comedy Club in June and didn't laugh one time. Wasn't impressed. His warmup act - a local guy named Dez O'Neal - was much funnier.

December 27, 2024Dec 27 Great: Day, Fineman, Gardner, Sherman, do not destroy, weekend update, the commercials (generally) Ok: Dismukes, Johnson (Trump amazing, otherwise meh), Nwodim (beautiful), Thompson (how the fuck is he still doing this? he doesn't bother me though), maybe Yang Dreadful: Hernandez (no range, same bit every sketch), Longfellow, Wickline (holy nepotism), Wakim, Padilla, maybe Yang

There are a handful of cast members who automatically get the fast forward treatment from me, and I don't think that's ever been the case before. And they seemingly want to feature all of them as much as possible.

The whole thing feels like a license to steal. Every week is another half ass, mailed in effort unless there’s a great host. Edited December 27, 2024Dec 27 by billfromlaketravis
January 2Jan 2 Nate’s Angel Gabriel sketch on his Paramount Christmas Special is beat for beat just as funny as the George Washington sketch on SNL. I laughed my ass off.

January 15Jan 15 I've never laughed at Yang, but in fairness, for the last couple of years I've fast forwarded through anything that looks like a Yang-centric skit or WE.

January 16Jan 16 i mean this might have been one of the funniest skits in years lol "... and suddenly there's this Irish cacophony behind me!"

January 16Jan 16 There's always good and bad cast members...just the last decade had more bad than good ones. I think this current cast is pretty decent overall, just as SNL is pretty decent overall...good highs, some lows...but MUCH Better than most of the last decade plus worth of SNL IMO.
January 16Jan 16 Chappelle on this week, I believe. Followed by Chalamet….. as host and musical guest. Yo, you cappin’.
January 16Jan 16 There’s a new 4 part documentary on SNL on Peacock and it’s really good. The episodes cover casting, the process of putting on the show, a whole episode solely on the making of The Cowbell skit and, finally the debacle of season 11 Edited January 16Jan 16 by TonyTexas

January 17Jan 17 Serious question are they bad at picking cast members? The list of people who auditioned and didn’t get it is stunning. Imagine SNL with Jim Carey, Jennifer Coolidge, Kevin Hart, Donald Glover, or Stephen Colbert.

January 19Jan 19 I remember when Ashlee Simpson’s career basically ended for getting caught lip syncing on SNL. Seems like the musical guests don’t even try to hide it anymore. Whoever that rapper was on Chappelle’s episode last night didn’t even try to pretend like that was her.

That's because Ashlee got nervous and started dancing the jig like a dork. You can be fraudulent, just not un-cool.

January 20Jan 20 Great episode (compared to the other shit they have been pumping out). Not a coincidence that Bowen Yang was in...what only 1 skit + open. Next week with Chalamet hosting we will get him in every fucking skit

JAJ did 5 seconds of Trump, and then they inexplicably have Yang do his tired George Santos impression.
