Would be an interesting exercise to pick which singular skit is the best for each of the above. Not sure it would be possible. Hell, even agreeing on the best character for most would be futile.
February 20Feb 20 Chris Farley was best in the Chippendales or the Matt Foley Down By the River sketch.
February 20Feb 20 My favorite Farley sketch was one I don't think I've seen since it aired in 1993. It was called Relapse Guy, and Lorne made sure all traces of it were erased from existence. Farley kept relapsing, causing increasingly terrible damage to himself and others. Now that I type it out, it probably hasn't aged well at all. Another one like that, and maybe from the same episode, was a game show called Date Rape, where contestants had to judge whether date rape had happened or not. It was a different time.
February 20Feb 20 'More Cowbell' for Ferrell seems obvious but 'I DRIVE A DODGE STRATUS!!' killed me 🤣

February 21Feb 21 Hartman is the SNL GOAT for me - as multiple people have said, he elevated every skit he was involved with, either performing or writing. He was also stellar on late-night appearances, especially Letterman. The 1994 appearance at 1h18m in this vid is my favorite. I am still legitimately sad we were deprived of many more years of him doing his thing. Edited February 21Feb 21 by sasquatch69

February 21Feb 21 It’s hard. It’s either Belushi or Eddie. I think it’s Eddie. - Better movie career. - One of the best stand ups of all time. - More memorable sketches on SNL. - Saved SNL at 19 years old without much help. Arguable on the better dancer. Belushi had the better music career. The Blues Brothers started as a gag, but that was a real band by the time the movie came out. Belushi has had the benefit of going out young. The Farley-Belushi anecdotes are haunting. What a tortured kid.

But I recognize that I'm more biased towards Hartman's work because I've seen more of it than I've seen of Eddie Murphy's, so I'm ready to admit that I'm wrong once I've sat down and seen as much of Murphy's SNL work as I've seen of Hartman's.

February 21Feb 21 Also shows off how great Mike Myers is. Too bad we lost him to all his Shrek money.

March 2Mar 2 CouplaBeers and A Lil Bump was funny. And the midday news segment was the hardest I’ve laughed at an SNL sketch all season. Holy shit that was genius. ”You guys are the chicken people.” Edited March 2Mar 2 by Jive Turkey
March 2Mar 2 Been pretty good tonight. Tate McRae seems pretty shitty and Jane Wickline continues to befuddle me.Please Don’t Destroy was awesome. As usual.
March 2Mar 2 Wickline is the worst cast member in the history of show. Mom was Lornes’ PA right? They need to retire Yang as JD Vance. It’s just never worked at all. Very strong first act and Update until Wickline showed up. Shane was obviously working on a new special in the monologue. Mostly worked. The band; however, was not amused. March 2Mar 2 he was ok in a couple sketches. the DND film was funny. monologue was just awkward, he either can't read a room or doesn't care to.

I think he was nervous uncomfortable as his bit and it worked. Like I said, SNL hasn't pushed the envelope in a while.
March 2Mar 2 Mike Myers nailed Elon’s look and most of his mannerisms, but he sounded like Paul McCartney. An easy, easy fix in rehearsal if somebody had the balls to give Myers notes/if Myers was at rehearsal. I thought all of the sketches were funny. And thank goodness somebody is finally trying to make fun of Shelby Foote.
March 2Mar 2 I generally don’t find Gillis very funny, but the Shelby Foote bit was hilarious. Burns giving that guy so much airtime has always been comical.
March 2Mar 2 There was a poster that had Shelby Foote as his avatar for a while. I've always thought he was a clown.

March 2Mar 2 I’m not likening the JAJ Trump that is “in on the joke.” It’s not acerbic enough. It’s almost as if they are worried about being too mean.

The joke is a gay guy is playing him - I think. I’ll allow it. It doesn’t bug me that much because Vance is so fucking boring there really isn’t an impression to do. Kinda like Gerald Ford.
March 2Mar 2 If Yang is going to continue to play JV, they really need for him to start wearing guyliner as part of the bit.
March 2Mar 2 B- for Myers on the Musk Impression (too British not South African enough) Here's an A+ https://www.tiktok.com/@alexbiron/video/7476174655376657670

I believe the joke is Vance is a closeted gay, and Yang is gay and impersonating him. It feels like an inside joke that Yang and the staff thinks is hilarious. It just hasn’t translated to the audience and I don’t think it ever will. Agreed on the eyeliner. They need to do something. Edited March 2Mar 2 by billfromlaketravis
March 2Mar 2 Did it start with Melissa McCarthy portraying Sean Spicer? I think it pissed him off to be played by a woman, so SNL started doing that. Aidy Bryant was Ted Cruz, Kate McKinnon has been Giuliani and Lindsey Graham. Now a very gay Bowen Yang is JD Vance. SNL is just trolling. But it has to be funny. Yang as JD just doesn’t have it.

March 3Mar 3 That was quite possibly the worst SNL show I've seen in years. Virtually none of it was funny.
