The political parody cold opens have gotten too repetitive and tiresome and run too long.  Do something new.

Yeah, Eddie's imitation of Tracy Morgan standing next to Tracy Morgan was next level.

Who is this mulleted jabroni? This is among the worst country music I've ever heard

He seemed like a cool guy on Theo Von's podcast, but yea, his music leaves a lot to be desired. I wanted him to be like the Shia LeBouf of Nashville Gen-Z.

Who said there was no perfect role for Pete Davidson?

Best SNL in a while. I actually liked the dude's first song, not so much the second.

I swear the cast intros now take 10 solid minutes

It's an election year, of course they're gonna do political parody. And this week was different, Rudy and the crazy lady, instead of Baldwin and Jim Carrey doing Trump and Biden. I love Kate McKinnon as Rudy.

Yeah this cold opening was about right after a few flat efforts as of late.

noCR but wife was watching with me and I was dying laughing at Cecily’s impression of that fucking lunatic next to Rudy.  And she basically asked me, “why is this so funny to you?  She’s being weird.”   So I paused it and played her a quick real life clip of that woman in Michigan and we resumed SNL with my wife having an Ah-Ha moment followed by laughter followed by; “is it weird that strong made more sense than the woman who gets to help pick the President?”  Somebody on here called it last week that the election bullshit was basically taking on a “girl you wish you hadn’t talked to at a party vibe” and they were spot on.

Episode got pretty weak fairly quickly IMO. Looking forward to the two close outs to the year.  They’ve plenty of shit to work with and Wiig needs a comedic win to resurrect her non existent career

Non existent? She's the villain in the new Wonder Woman, has 2 more movies in post production and a 3rd waiting to film. She's been pretty busy.

Being Busy =/= Being Funny

There's 25 other actresses that can play the roles she's been playing lately.  But none of them are as funny as she is.  And she's chosen to ignore that fact.  I love her, wife and I have been huge fans of her for 15 years.  But she's following in a proud SNL tradition, set mostly by men (not just picking on her), of leaving the show, doing a few great projects, and then somehow losing their enormous comedic chops.  It'll be fun to see her come back and host again later this month though.

Wait, what? You said non-existent career.

What are you talking about? /Patrick Stewart, Uber eats.

Sorry, non-existent "comedic" career.  Christ, this woke movement is about as funny as my last colonoscopy.

Remember when Eddie Murphy started doing kids movies?  Or when Sasha Grey went to dramatic comedies?  It was in that vein.  She has a great career if you measure it by money and appearances.  I don't think she's doing anything terribly funny anymore, and that's a shame IMHO.  Forget I said anything, she should get the Twain award next year if there is any justice left in this world!

yes, for the umpteenth time.  I acknowledge it's going well, it's just not that funny.  I thought she put a premium on humor, but she doesn't and the cash speaks for itself.  I applaud her in that respect.  Same thing happened to Sandler, Murphy, Fallon, Myers.  Others fell in the middle.  Some were and still are cranking out hilarity at almost every turn.

full disclosure... i have a 'thing' for Timothee Chalamet. not quite as bad as bama and Harry...but close 😊

i thought he was great! he outdid the cast itself in every skit.

cold open was ok, Mckinnon's Fauci was good but the other girl was off, timing or something.

funny monologue, shot of his mom was lol

my tiny horse was so bizarre i was more 😳 than 😄...until they did the wide cut on the 'git! go on, git!' and i cracked up.

Covid family was funny. WU was meh. the SportsMax promo was hysterical especially Timothee 🤣

you could tell he was having fun. the hosts that commit 110% are always the best.

Springsteen is an American icon but...just not my thing. that's the nicest thing i can say.

I'm a casual Springsteen fan, but it's obvious the years have caught up with him vocally. It's sad when icons get old.

Glad I'm not the only one that felt that way.  The host kid seems like he's got some chops down the road.  I dunno, not my cup of tea but I'd like to see the Dune reboot.  But overall, just flat energy by the cast, shitty writing as always, and maybe the worst Weekend Update of the season.  When you finish an episode and think, "Wow, Pete Davidson was well used and funny tonight"...that's a bad sign.  As said above repeatedly, Bruce has never been my thing despite my love of rock 'n roll.  I guess he should be on my bucket list but I know I'll never bother seeing him so what's the point.  csbalert/ I had a meeting in Dallas about 4 years ago near the AAC.  We finished dinner early and I walked by the arena and he was playing.  This wasn't even the raise-the-roof-encore.  This was just like 90 minutes into what I understand is like his usual 3.5hour show.  And I put my hand on the brick exterior near where the stage was (obviously separated by a lot of brick and concrete and distance).  And I could feel a slight vibration.  I thought, if he can do that in his late 60's, he's doing something right.

Coronavirus holiday gathering and Lexus video were funniest sketches.  Cold opening was solid.  Rest was just awkwardly bad even by 2020 standards.

Pretty good episode to end the year. The Grinch sketch was greatness.

The Christmas “I got a robe” sketch was really funny.

Also I know it’s been done several
times but I always enjoy Jost cold reading Che’s racist jokes. Makes me lol

I’m
Becoming more and more convinced that the writing staff is weak. When they have a funny host who (I assume) contributes to the sketches, the show is better.

Or it could be a comedic timing thing. Either way...

Jost always gets the short end of that deal. It's the funniest bit they do all year.

The Twins skit was excellent. Weekend Update was solid, Kyle Mooney's Scorsese was hilarious. Ratatouille skit was worthy. The rest of the skits were c to c- work.

Twins sketch was an instant classic. I am still laughing right now.

I thought it was a good episode. Multiple LOL moments - Subway, Weekend Update (esp. My Pillow), liberal Georgia. I haven't come to expect a ton from SNL so the whole thing was a pleasant surprise.

W/U has been a bit of a letdown in the last few months, but it was back last night and back strong.  Subway, Twins, and I thought insurrection gamenight were all good.  Ratatouille and Blue Georgia had potential but fell flat, IMO.  Cold Opening could have been better but give 'em credit for trying to summarize 6 weeks of pure fucking stupidity in our nation.  Normally that'd be a solid "B" episode, but they had a lot of time to come up with better shit given the longer than usual break plus John wasn't the homerun he could have been, so I guess an overall "C+/B-"  But who cares anyway?  I think Levy next week is gonna be binary, either an absolute home-run for the decade or falls completely flat because he plays it the same way in every sketch.

I'm a big fan of Kyle Mooney and was laughing hard at his Scorsese.

Pete Davidson certainly hasn't missed any meals.

disappointing... mostly bc Dan Levy is hysterical and i had high expectations, but too many skits had timing issues and he seemed awkward, he didn't do well in that format.

however, the Zillow commercial slayed...literally bc i was viewing Zillow porn when it came on and i lost it 🤣

Yea, pretty much the same for me. Gotta love Schitts Creek though!

I thought he was really good. Its the writing. The monologue was unfunny. He did what he could. Zillow killed.

The live skits have long been a weakness. They really need a different direction there.

Dan and Eugene should have kicked the writers out for a week and written the episode themselves.

Then everyone would be bitching at the low-key, and dry Canadian humor all the skits were.  Can't win when it comes to those who complain about SNL.

That's pretty much what Collin and Michael's annual New Year's blind joke routine is.

Who are Collin and Michael, and were they doing their New Year's blind joke routine before 1975?

Am I the only person who doesn't find zillow-surfing or looking at random homes on websites fun or entertaining? That sounds miserable and a huge waste of time to me. Is it something women and gays like to do, is that the joke?

The WU crew and they stole that bit. I'm not sure they were alive in 1975.

I don’t think I have ever just leisurely surfed Zillow. Only if we are sorta looking at specific houses that might be for sale, but that’s it.

ETA that I thought he was hilarious. Monologue sucked, but yeah it was the writing. I see where they wanted to go, but meh.

my favorite was probably the men’s cosmetics commercial. I think I read that it was cut from the final show, but I watched it on YouTube.

Regina King remains damn fine.

She is a fine actress

Pelataunt was awesome, with the follow up of the Gorilla Glue lawsuit was great.

Never heard of Nathaniel Rateliff before, but I like what I hear.

really? i assumed this was surly's theme song 😄
