May 18, 20223 yr Reports of Norman about to be dumped by the Saudis. He was a horrible choice as a mouth piece, he could never keep his mouth shut. him talking about playing in South Africa, during the glory days of apartheid …… Playing at Kingston Heath Golf Club in February, 1987, Norman took umbrage after being asked about being black-listed by the United Nations when he opted to play in South Africa during apartheid and refused to commit to not doing so again. “They want me to pledge that I won’t play golf in South Africa. Well, they can go to hell. I’m a professional golfer and I’ll play wherever I choose,” he said.

Only hurts him in the long run towards recovering, and there wasn’t anything to gain from it. I can’t imagine going through what he has, and then being able to get out and even try to play, let alone at a major tournament. He has just over 3 years to practice around on the PGA to get ready for the Sr tour. It would not surprise me one bit if that was one of the bigger underlying goals.
May 23, 20223 yr Tiger knows that playing in majors helps his brand and the PGA tour/tour sponsers certainly knows that Tiger playing in majors is huge, so nobody is going to tell him not to show up. That being said it was clear at both the Masters and the PGA, he's not ready to be back. His leg is still fucked up. Making the cut while gimping around is impressive, but at the same time he basically shit the bed each weekend. If he wants to give the US Open and The Open a shot, I doubt anyone will try and discourage him, but how much is his leg really going to improve in the next two months? He may be playing the best golf he's capable of playing today, but when his last 8 rounds on courses set up for a major are: 71,74,78,78 (masters) and 74,69,79,DNF (Pga) its clear he's not capable of playing at the levels he's accustomed to.

He might play a few events a year but it wouldn’t surprise me if he never steps foot at a senior event.
May 23, 20223 yr I thought the same about David Duvall too. I didn’t say it was in stone. I said it wouldn’t surprise me. And it wouldn’t. A mother fucker doesn’t try as hard and willing put himself through that kind of pain and anguish for a couple appearances for old times sake. Now, would he be competitive enough to be anything other than a memory and ambassador? Completely different.
May 23, 20223 yr Saw this quote from JT regarding his win... Quote PGA Championship winner Justin Thomas, a former Alabama star and big Crimson Tide football fan, couldn't help but weigh in on the Nick Saban-Jimbo Fisher feud after winning a second Wanamaker Trophy on Sunday. Thomas, who rallied from a 7-shot deficit in the final round at Southern Hills Country Club to win his second major championship, was asked if he would follow Saban's 24-hour celebration rule. "Yeah, I got a 24-hour rule," Thomas told Sirius XM. "I'm not sure what Jimbo Fisher's rule is, but I guess he's gotta win something first before he figures out his rules." https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/33971889/pga-championship-winner-former-alabama-crimson-tide-golfer-justin-thomas-takes-jab-texas-jimbo-fisher Let's overlook the fact that Jimbo did actually win something at FSU, it cracks me up that he just takes that shot at Jimbo. It just means more in the SEC I guess. Good bull.
May 26, 20223 yr Author I really wish that Schwab Challenge tournament director had put JT, Zalatoris, and Mito Pererira in a group for today & tomorrow.

May 26, 20223 yr Jordan is being Jordan. spraying it all over the place. 1 under through 16. leader is at -5. buncha guys at -4 (Scheffler, Fat Pat, HVIII, Webb). wind is up, which gives Colonial some defense.
May 26, 20223 yr I guess this guy is getting his 15 minutes of fame from attending the PGA. Also getting some free beer from Michelob. Was everyone else under the impression that there would be no photographic or video evidence of Tiger competing unless they documented it? It would be one thing if they were in the photo that somebody else was taking, but the ridiculousness of this scene is something else.
May 27, 20223 yr If he gets 10, 15, 30 minutes or more from it then I’m just fine with that. Good for him.

Updated odds and picks Here's a look at the new odds after 18 holes, via Caesars Sportsbook. Scottie Scheffler: 9/2 Webb Simpson: 10-1 Jordan Spieth: 12-1 Chris Kirk: 12-1 Patrick Reed: 14-1 Harold Varner III: 14-1 Kevin Na: 16-1 Viktor Hovland: 22-1 Davis Riley: 25-1 Collin Morikawa: 25-1 Cam Davis: 28-1 It felt as if Hovland and Spieth both got away with robbery in Round 1 as both played relatively poor and were still able to sign for rounds of 1-under 69. They are both off in the morning and should face lighter winds compared to those who will play in the afternoon hours. Beyond them on the odds board, Max Homa at 35-1 is an intriguing option as his ball-striking abandoned him for parts of his opening round. Homa is a two-time winner this season and given his propensity to play difficult golf courses well, he can not be dismissed Edited May 27, 20223 yr by LTtxfan
May 27, 20223 yr Spieth's love affair with Colonial As is typical for Spieth, Thursday was a rollercoaster as his first round featured just about everything -- from simply ridiculous recovery shots to missing short putts. All in all, it added up to a 1-under 69 as the 28-year-old has positioned himself nicely to add to his already stellar résumé at the Charles Schwab Challenge. Coming into this week, Spieth had teed it up nine times prior on the Perry Maxwell design. In that span, he had captured a victory in 2016, three runner-up finishes and four additional top-15 finishes. He appears well on his way to adding a similar result, but the putter will need to start to cooperate as he ranked outside the top 100 in strokes gained putting in Round 1.

May 29, 20223 yr Damn Scottie. Make a putt why don’t you. Perfect drive, questionable approach, drains a bomb nobody was expecting. That guy is good.
May 29, 20223 yr 4 shots back for Spieth now after 3 holes... amazing approach out of rough over a tall oak tree on hole #3 ends up short of hole by only 2 inches... Edited May 29, 20223 yr by LTtxfan
May 29, 20223 yr Spieth misses 4ft putt for par on #4. Sure seems to give up the hole on a lot of short putts -- maybe Spieth should consider taking more break out on shorter putts and hit his shorter putts firmer ?? His stats vs the field on shorter putts has to be terrible... Edited May 29, 20223 yr by LTtxfan damn autocorrect
May 29, 20223 yr Spieth sinks his 3rd birdie of the day on the 6th hole from 15ft... Back to 4 shots off lead
May 29, 20223 yr Sinks long putt to save par on #7 for Spieth -- may help his confidence. (Maybe 7-9ft putt ??)
May 29, 20223 yr 22ft birdie putt on #8 for Spieth -- just a terrible putt. Unforced error Now 5'6" for par -- misses it for bogey 3 birdies... two terrible bogeys #SpiethRollercoaster Edited May 29, 20223 yr by LTtxfan
