April 29, 20223 yr The point being that 400hp is a "top end" number that corresponds to top end speed that is virtually unusable on the street, other than interstate highway and even then. Often, but somewhat less so in these turbo days, a healthy low-end torque number goes with that. And that's where the daily driving fun comes in, at reasonable vehicle weight. That 3.0L TT V6 makes 405 ft-lbs at 2500 rpm. That will get you off the on-ramp and up someone's ass in 2.5 seconds.I have ~600hp and i find it very drivable. And I like being able to hit 100 on the on ramp.
April 29, 20223 yr I’d agree. All relative. I’ve driven a couple of true 700+ hp trucks around and they are plenty able to daily. Just have to remember what you have under that hood, and respect it.

May 7, 20223 yr I have been monitoring the status on a car that's been "In Transit" since early February (2022 VW GTI). I had called the dealer when I first saw it online, then followed up about every 3-4 weeks via text. Last weekend, I saw they had a very similar used model, so I decided to go up there and look at it. I get there (unannounced BTW) and they guy said that car sold last night but he had the one that I've been waiting for, it had just come in the day before. Test drove it and made the deal. From my arrival to leaving with the car, I was there for 2 hours. One of the quickest car deals I've ever made. Most of the time was spent waiting for the papers to print. They offered 30.5k for my trade, I asked for 32.5k, we settled on 31.5k, which was right at what Carvana, Carmax and Vroom had offered me. I'm pleased with the deal.

I looked at the CT6 Blackwing when I was deciding on the E63s Wagon. What a sick engine and it's extinct for all we know. Those Cadillacs are nice af, but the V is a very different car than the platinum (I've driven both), it's about a lot more than just the engine as the V really is a track focused variant. TBH I preferred the non V as it's a way way better daily experience. https://www.motortrend.com/news/cadillac-ct6-v8-ct6v-engine-option/ for reference on what I'm talking about I know the CT5 is different, but same general idea. I think @Moby Ric has a sick new whip.
May 14, 20223 yr Just sold my 2016 Tahoe for $4000 more than I purchased it for almost 2 years ago. I also added 25k miles since purchase.

The internets tell me that you have an easier time getting a discount, but I would think that the dealerships would prefer it if you finance. Admittedly, I don't know shit about fuck though. update: Well I just agreed to buy from a dealership. I thought my offer was reasonable (about another~1500 off) and they acted like I was trying to take their lunch money. Admittedly, it's a factory order so I wasn't expecting a big discount, especially with how shitty the climate is right now for this shit. Definitely won't be paying cash since this one is a little more than I was originally planning to spend... Edited May 19, 20223 yr by Bevo14
July 6, 20223 yr anyone have opinions on which ford dealerships to go to or avoid in austin (to purchase)?
August 28, 20223 yr starting to see financing deals again. long national nightmare almost over?Probably just to prop up the price
August 28, 20223 yr Got a good deal on a trusty, affordable '13 Honda a few years out of school when my old hand-me-down kicked the bucket in 2017. Paid it off this past June with ~90k miles. Our only vehicle with me working at home and wife going in just a couple times a week. Looking forward to running it into the ground over the rest of this decade. Totaled in a hit and run while parked before July even ended. So, after the back and forth with insurance, we are on the market. All I have to say is these prices are bonkers.
August 28, 20223 yr That sucks. Hoping you’ll at least get current pricing off your now totaled vehicle. Such a terrible market to be forced into.
August 30, 20223 yr That sucks. Hoping you’ll at least get current pricing off your now totaled vehicle. Such a terrible market to be forced into. Yeah, the insurance payout was actually a hair above the sticker price I paid for it, and that was with some minor cosmetic damage - some hail dents on the roof I never bothered with, minor dent from getting rear ended the week before (lol) - totally wild but it’s a two-way street. We ended up going with a like-new version of the same model. The value prop on all cars is awful right now (would not advise anyone to be on the market unless 100% necessary) but felt like it was especially terrible on older ones.
August 30, 20223 yr I noticed the Mazda and Suburu dealerships on Burnet are overflowing with new vehicles this week. Surely that’s putting pressure on prices to come down.
August 30, 20223 yr Anyone have any experience with jeeps? Wife is wanting a wrangler 4xe next year or so. I haven't followed the newest tax bill, is the federal rebate still $7,500 and would the full amount apply for a plugin hybrid like the 4xe?
February 3Feb 3 I was planning to buy a new car for my wife sometime this year. Does anyone have any idea how these tariffs may affect pricing in the next several months?

Pretty much have told most people to upgrade their cars, phones, other electronics, etc. now if they were even thinking about at any point this year.
February 4Feb 4 Wife ordered a new Lexus RX350h the first week of December with an ETA of early-mid March (color combo extremely hard to find, so special order). We're keeping fingers crossed it makes it across the Canadian border before/if tariffs kick in.

Honda, Nissan, Subaru, Kia, Mazda and Toyota all manufacture here. Guessing the tariff only covers specific models manufactured domestically and not the brand’s entire line? February 4Feb 4 I don't think there's such a thing as a US-built car made 100% of US-based components.

May 3May 3 Found a certified used car online that I was interested in. I had a carmax offer for my current car, so I went to this dealership to see about making a deal. They lowballed the shit out of my trade by the tune of $8k. I said no fucking way and showed them the carmax offer I had. They came up $1200, I said no. Then their final offer was still $4k under the carmax offer I had. They said they can’t compete with carmax or carvana and that he would be “taking a loss” to meet that price. I said no deal and then he said I should go sell my car and come back. I said sure, wait here for me and left. Fuck that shit. I guess I’m just gonna drive my car into the ground before I bother doing this again.
August 26Aug 26 I just bought my wife this Lincoln Corsair Grand Touring plug in hybrid this afternoon. But in order to get a $5,500 credit from Lincoln I have to lease it for 3 months then buy it out, even though I was prepared to buy it outright. Stupid hoops, but whatever. It is a nice ride though.

Do you have to have a special charger installed at your home, or is it really "plug in". I'm sure that's a stupid question, but I really don't know.

Not yet. We're going to need one. You can use 110v to charge, but it only give you like 4 miles of battery range per hour that way. It is definitely full plug in. The Grand Touring only comes in the plug in hybrid.
