December 29, 20213 yr This has potential, but having only 1 episode at a time does suck a bit. Would have been nice to at least have a couple to get into it a bit more.
December 30, 20213 yr I thought it was pretty good. After the Mandalorian (both the shoe as a whole and the season 2 finale) there are some big shows to fill. I’m hoping they are starting on the slow side. But ep. 1 was certainly entertaining.
December 30, 20213 yr Solid start. Disney probably needs a publicist to hold Rodriguez’s hand during interviews. Things I liked: - The escape was believable and they went right into it. Addressing it episode 4 or something wouldn’t have worked as well. - His capture was also believable, but his captivity not so much. The youngling had his back to Boba much of the time. He could have destroyed that kid, and they already established Boba could handle the space dog. Things I didn’t like: - The centaur monster looked like shit and something RR pulled out of the Dusk Til Dawn prop closet. - About 10 minutes too short. December 30, 20213 yr Liked it, but has that Goro/centaur creature appeared in anything (canon or otherwise) before?

December 30, 20213 yr so what was the big reveal? that sand people don’t really travel single file to hide their numbers.
December 30, 20213 yr Gasping for air in the sarlacc pit? @Uncle Boobs watched, nodded approvingly, and thought, "Yep, been there"
December 30, 20213 yr Did he forget he has a jetpack? I believe that is how he ended up in the Sarlac in the first place. Luke plus Jetpack.
December 30, 20213 yr I had to chuckle at the rodent of unusual size but since I’m a fan of Princess Bride I just considered it a tribute Mando startng from a completely clean slate definitely was an advantage as this one had to tell the back story but I enjoyed how they told it - so yeah, I’m all in Edited December 30, 20213 yr by BluTechsan
December 30, 20213 yr Unpopular opinion but the scenes shot in the Volume have an artificial look to them that I don’t like. The tech is amazing but it can’t touch shooting on location. Disney has all the money in the world, they should be able to do GoT level real sets.
December 30, 20213 yr My only problem was that fight choreography with old people sucks. They can’t move so you compensate with close in quick cut edits.

December 30, 20213 yr Spending one more dollar on sets wouldn't increase the number of people watching. I'll be happy if they keep a good storyline. It also allows them to turnaround a series in less than 12 months. With all real sets, it’d be closer to 3 years.
December 30, 20213 yr Author I thought the VFX was fine until the Sandpeople dog started trying to walk with them. I enjoyed the first episode though I did joke with the wife about member berries. At least with this tickling of your nostalgia bone, you're getting somewhere new with the protagonist and it's not just a reboot of an existing origin story like Force Awakens. It's a continuation of Boba Fett's story which we didn't get back when everyone really wanted any new Star Wars content.
December 30, 20213 yr They are definitely winking at the old legends universe and fandom, I'm loving it. In the books, Boba fought his way out of the sarlacc and was found by Jawas but they thought he was a droid and took him onboard [/nerd]. I'm liking the sand people storyline and fleshing out that part of the universe that is so core to the star wars universe and story. Finally getting more interesting things than sand people in burqas getting revenge killed in AOTC lol

December 30, 20213 yr Morrison isn't much of an actor, IMO. Keep that helmet on buddy. This doesn't feel as well-made as Mando. As noted above, some scenes look very soundstagey.
December 30, 20213 yr Author Right on the guards. I'm glad the guards finally aren't just useless overweight pigs that are easily dispatched. There were definite winks to Jedi but it wasn't just over the top. It felt like it served a purpose to show Jabba's barren throne room. Compare that to how crowded it was in Jedi. Shows how far the Hutt empire has slipped. Yeah, Max Rebo member berries but I'll forgive that. I'd imagine we'll be returning to the Mos Espa titty bar/casino later in the season. I don't mind more Sandpeople storylines.

Star Wars is science fantasy! No need to worry about details like that 😛 But maybe it's just some extra wood they have lying around that they jammed into the sand? Seems like something they'd be able to manage considering they do build large fires at night etc
December 30, 20213 yr Desert life can't be that hard if you can just dig anywhere and pull up weird seed pods full of clean water whenever you get thirsty.
December 30, 20213 yr Author The non-Sand People have to use moisture evaporators to get any form of water. It stands to reason that Sand People have figured out the native way of getting water and how to find it. That's probably why they drop anchor and set up camp where they do. They're nomads so I'd imagine they would bring along wood they find as they're moving along. Again, it's Star Wars. Just go with it and stop worrying about what's realistic or not. Boba would've died from heat exhaustion early on any way. Edited December 30, 20213 yr by mdmost

December 30, 20213 yr this dude a bitch. reminded me of this dude... i was like... bruh, push the fuckin button on this guy.
December 30, 20213 yr The more I think about it the less I like that first episode. But it wouldn’t be the first D+ show to start slow. Hope it picks up.

I will root for them.. more of this too
December 30, 20213 yr Pretty typical season 1 / episode 1 for Filoni. The needed to spend the time showing how Boba escaped from the Sarlacc and set the stage for the rest of the season. Felt like they did a good job on both fronts.

December 30, 20213 yr Author The mayor is saying he's more powerful and should be more feared than Boba with one assassin and two guards.
December 31, 20213 yr It was good. You guys would bitch about fictitious holochess moves on the millennium falcon.

December 31, 20213 yr I get the feeling they are positioning him as a kinder gentler Boba, basically a good guy. Mando II. Which is disappointing since he’s supposed to be a ruthless bounty hunter and now crime lord.
December 31, 20213 yr It wasn't as good as the 1st episode of the Mandalorian, but I still enjoyed it. Really like Fennec as a character and Wen is ageless.

I didn’t mind it and think it’s intentional, an attempt to recapture the look and feel of New Hope and that SW was originally an homage to low-budget serials of the 50s. Lucas went way too CGI in the PT and Special Editions. The ST returned to physical props,; Mando and now BoBF are continuing that look.

January 2, 20223 yr For a season (or series) with only 7 episodes, I think there was way too much back story in episode 1.
January 2, 20223 yr A lazy effort from Disney IMO. Looked cheap and the fight choreography plays out at a snail’s pace. The more we learn about Boba Fett, the less cool he becomes.
