We've been to Charleston a lot but never really Savannah.  We'll be there later this week for a few days.

Any recommends?  Restaurants?  Tours?  Etc?

Went there in the fall of 2016.  Nice area.  We stayed at the Andaz, which is nice but is right on the square so it is noisy at night

Drinks:  go to the rooftop bar at the Bohemian — great views

Restaurants:  we tried a few places.  Our favorites were Local 11 (Forsyth Park area), which also has an awesome rooftop bar, along with great food, and Cotton and Rye (sit on the patio if you can)

Vic’s on the River was a good spot downtown for lunch

Mrs. Wilke’s Dining Room is a damn good family style southern meal.  It’s a block or so from Forsythe Park.  The bars down on the waterfront are full of girls in art school with questionable morals.

Had a good dinner at The Grey when we were there.

No recs, but I used to haul sugar from the Dixie Crystals plant in the late 80's. Quite possibly the nicest part of Georgia.

We stayed at the Gastonian Inn near Forsyth Park and absolutely loved it. Dinner at Vic’s on the River was excellent. We did one of the walking tours that was done in the morning and then did a evening carriage ride/tour. As mentioned above, Mrs. Wilkes is excellent. The Lady & Sons (Paula Deen) sucked shit when we were there. If she’s more involved now, it might be better.

The Vault Kitchen and Market is a cool Asian fusion place that is in a former bank space...great food and drinks

In addition to The Grey, we also liked:

Atlantic

Back In the Day Bakery

Mrs Wilkes is a must. Great experience.
Elizabeth on 37- excellent food, amazing service. The owners still wait tables nightly. The one a Beard Award.
The Worm Hole is a fun dive bar with a mixed crowd.

Necro bump.  Where to watch a game there?  Say a Longhorn game... Hypothetically while the Horns play a bunch of bible thumping rapists...

Any first-hand experience? Staying at Andaz.

Stayed at the Andaz about  2 years ago.  Nice place. Bar was great, restaurant was just OK.  It is noisy because it is very near the downtown square, and there was music going pretty late.

You might see if the rooftop bar at the Bohemian (very close to Andaz, and on the waterfront) will have it on.  Nice views and good bar.

Bump.  This is the most relevant Savannah thread I could find.   Heading there for a few days with my wife later this summer (over 4th of July + weekend actually).  Tentatively staying at Perry Lane.  Any updated recs for those that have been recently?

Wilke House is still a good meal. The bars on the riverfront are still fun.

Bump for recent recs?

Heading to Savannah Saturday for our 10 yr anniversary and staying at the Gastonian. Have a dinner res at The Gray. Plan on heading to the river and popping in to bars while in route to the Bohemian roof. She booked a private walking tour, but not sure when or where.

This was kind of a spur of the moment trip with little to no research done, so we are kinda winging it.

Just got back from a working trip to Savannah. Had time the first night to go look around some downtown, would like to come back on a real vacation.

The Palace Diner on Abercorn was my late night hangout. For breakfast, the McDonald's on Eisenhower near the armory had a higher level of professionalism compared to others.

Pink House was a solid meal and cool place.  Feel like it is kind of a must do.  If not dinner, we really liked the bar downstairs and went there post dinner and another night for drinks.   Artillery was a great cocktail bar. It was close to our hotel and hit it up a couple of times pre diner.  Perry Lane (where we stayed) had a good rooftop bar.  Alligator soul was a good dinner but lacked in atmosphere (we went on July 4th so it was dead).  Vic's was a solid lunch.   Crystal Beer Parlor was a really good more casual lunch.  Collins Quarter was a good breakfast.   Didn't work out for us but if you feel the need and are there long enough, there is a guy that does Texas Style BBQ supposed to be really good that was written up in Texas Monthly/BBQ Snob.  He was just doing pop ups when we were there and didn't work out but think he was working on a permanent location.
