Man, the aggravating thing is Texas could have beat ND last night.

There's a lot of things that could have happened this year. We also could have easily lost to ASU. Its not like we were an unstoppable juggernaut. We lost 3 games to good teams.

This is where we needed Quinn to channel a Major Applewhite attitude and say "Fuck the Toss Sweep, gonna fake the toss and go nekkid Right. Helm, go with me - if I pump, you block, otherwise you better fuckin' catch it..."

Second thought, that might be more Street than Applewhite.

Disagree. It should have gone something like this: "Fuckin Sark... Slot left, 25 dive on one. Slot left, 25 dive on one!"

Is Brandon Harris actually any good? I always thought he was just a biddable yes-man who was good enough at his job to keep his job but no better. Was I wrong? And if I’m not, why did we give him a huge raise? Because Sark likes the guy?

would of been nice if we had made fgs in sec championship than we'd be 2 seed and probably playing in nc game. oh well

Have they recruited well?  Have they been able to largely retain the players they wanted to? Does Brandon Harris have involvement in those aspects?   Yes.

Do we believe that Sark and CDC are idiots who like rewarding underperforming staff with pay increases? Does anything in their tenure suggest that? Probably not.

I wonder where your notions came from? If Surly, there's your problem.

What is he responsible for that is lacking?

Also, if there was ever a time not to rock the boat, it is now. With Arch, Colin Simmons & Anthony Hill, we will have the 3 best players on the field in pretty much all of our games next season. Let's ride this out.

Last night watching the TDs play calls inside the red zone...got damn Sark is an idiot inside the red. Misdirection, trickery? Nope, he gets really stupid conservative at the wrong time.

I know everyone has already shouted this but it needs to be said every fucking day until the beginning of the season, he really really really really needs to self scout his play calling inside the red zone. What could have been last season and this season...

Caleb Downs is no slouch, either.

Hes a beast. Both him and Smith make a mockery of the NFLs capricious rules against 19-20 years olds

It's hardly capricious.  The NFL avoids a shit ton of costs having someone else develop teenagers.

There’s one common denominator in our offensive struggles in big games.

Playing against really good defenses?

No just one. Our great defense didn’t seem to be an issue to score on in the red zone when it mattered for those opposing coaches.

He has turned out to be better than I expected. But the old criticisms now carry more weight. Can’t take what a defense gives him. This was one of the main criticisms from his past two HC jobs out west. His opponents knew it. Arch’s play absolutely did not help. It was harmful and disappointing. But at some point if you want to be both OC and HC (and the graveyard is full of HC’s gone from the sport who did both—yes a few have won the big one—but it’s almost 99% not bringing lasting success.) At any rate I like Sark but we have now seen his red zone woes on full display with multiple QB’s and something is getting missed. He doesn’t take what defenses give him. And dumb penalties and shit rob us of the rest. That’s it. 🤘🏼

Best thing we can hope for is Sark somehow lucks into a generational QB like Mack, Jimbo, and Chizik that can overcome his coaching deficiencies.

He's had two No. 1 overall prospects in their respective recruiting classes at QB so far. Is that not enough? I suspect it would be for Ryan Day and Kirby Smart.

You can’t be serious…

last year Texas had multiple HUGE goal line stands in the playoffs and other games that helped us win.

clemson, ASU, Aggy.

When it mattered most. Georgia twice, Ohio st twice. He’s  here to win big games not play in them then say “yea but we did really good against aggy and lesser teams”

Aggy wasn’t a playoff game and they weren’t good so pretty stupid to hang your hat on that. Az st and Clemson are teams we should beat and did and aren’t even in the same stratosphere as Georgia and Ohio st. Strange you can’t hold the head coach responsible for clear issues against great teams.

Look dude if you don’t think sark is an issue in big games I don’t know what to tell you. And you also used aggy as an example of what I don’t know. Our offense scored 17 that’s game and also somehow scored 7 for aggy too.

He needs an actual play calling OC, at minimum for the red zone.  It’s obvious he doesn’t have the time to put into play calling that he did at Alabama.  It’s frustrating but then I also remember the many years before him and the number of coaches who have won more games the last two years. This game we had a chance to win with the quarterback not even being close to his target on half his throws.  That makes play calling pretty hard to do.

#7799

We had the better overall offensive performance and plan in both Ohio State matchups (and the second Georgia matchup) and went 0-3. That is the toughest pill to swallow for me. We had them beat in a variety of different ways and made the 2 or 3 mistakes at the worst times we couldn't afford to make.

Ryan Day didn't do anything special in either matchup. He went into his shell, let Jeremiah Smith be a non-factor again and we are the ones who handed him the game. He didn't sit around Columbus all offseason gameplanning for a 200 yard performance on offense.

It would be a different story if we were just getting our doors blasted off and outclassed in these games. They have all been winnable aside from Georgia part 1, and even that one was a one-possession game in the second half.

I think Sark has won 20 straight games against unranked opponents going back to 2022. 10-6 against top 25 teams. It's the top 1% we are coming face to face with and we have to find a way to get over the top.

Overall I’m very happy with Sark. He’s hired great coaches, recruited and developed great players, and capitalized on the shifting landscape in college football in a manner that has elevated us to a top 5 program 3 years running.

Coaches tend to wear the “can’t win the big one” badge of honor until they finally break through, at which point all is forgiven. Ryan Day, Kirby Smart, Dabo, etc. I still think Sark will be in that class. There are problems that need to be fixed (primarily the red zone), but outside of Georgia 1 last year, we’ve been a play or two away from winning every big game, and I expect he’ll break through eventually.
