The correct play was called (Len Dale White), we were just better.

Correct play call and lose is not what I want for Texas.  Now Sark is calling BS on the goal line to lose for Texas.

Toss play 7 yards behind the los at the 1? Lol

And from a wide formation. If you’re going to call a toss in that situation, do it from a heavy formation since the defense thinks you’re running up the middle again. They had two WRs on that side of the field and motioned  a TE over pre snap. They drew the fucking defense to the toss!

It was an absolutely moronic play call.

Texas lost this game because of shitty coaching at the end of each half. The screen TD never should have happened because you don’t blitz in that situation. You run a draw or screen to see if you can pick up chunk yards. OSU had no time to drive 75 yards down the field, yet Texas blitzes and plays right into the screen call for OSU.

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!

Don't get in the way of these insecure retards talking shit about the 2nd best coach in Texas history.

I would like to Sark stand up and say “that was all on me and I messed it up and cost us a win.”   That’s what a legit coach would do.

Mack Brown is the 2nd best Texas coach.  Fred Akers is 3rd.  Dana Bible is probably 4th right now.  Are you retarded?

Watching sarks comments now……says the team “wasn’t able to put it in” from the 1.  “Nothing to hang our heads about.”  What a pussy

Some of you are forgetting where this team was two years ago. Let it grow.

I love Sark but man up and admit that the playcalling sucks when the game is on the line. Same fucking thing last year.

I like Sark a lot, but I don’t really feel like he’s learning from in-game mistakes.

We weren't getting in up the middle. MAYBE off tackle, but Sark had no faith in his OL there. I didn't like the toss play, but who can you fucking rely on to block?

Tough sequence there. I probably stick with throwing and give Quinn the green light to run.

When you're on the 1 yard line, a backwards toss to a RB with his heels on the 9 yard line is perhaps the worst conceivable call I can dream up. If i were intentionally throwing id call that.

May need interlock on internet devices but yeah shot ourselves in the dick twice once at the end of each half that is on coaching.

It was more than derpy. Sark needs to consider restructuring game day responsibilities or give up play calling duties all together. He struggles with momentum and management during the games and it needs to be addressed.

He needs to hire an OC.

1st down was the right call. Then it went to shit.

2nd down should have been a play action boot with instructions to throw it away if it's not here.

Then pound it 3rd and 4th down. If they stop it then it's a 7 point game with more than 2 minutes and they have the ball on their own goal line.

I was saying this shit before 1st down. It's not hindsight.

Anyone with a brain think was. Sark needs a play caller.

1st and goal from the 1 means you bring in a D-lineman as fullback, pound it up the middle four fucking times and live with the consequences.

That toss play is up there with the Garrett Gilbert shovel pass against Alabama. Just why?????

Damn right. You tell your team “we are getting. 1 fucking yard or we will die trying.”

This loss is on both Sark and Ewers. Some good calls, and then we regress. Saek isn't out there trying to throw the football, so regardless of the play call, that's on Ewers. We can't just blame one person.

He is amazing at recruiting, amazing at development, amazing at innovation, and he has the football IQ to consistently win 9+ games every year provided the team is healthy. But as far as I'm concerned we just saw him commit strike two as a big game play caller. If I'm being brutally honest, our talent probably snatched at least one win from the jaws of defeat and those losses would have been because of his boneheaded playcalls. The team's tendency to underperform in the third quarter is on him, as a motivator, as a tactician, and as a play caller. His in-game instincts: trying to motivate Bert? trusting Bert in Atlanta? His instincts are questionable.

If he is serious about taking the team to the next level, he needs to look inward, admit to himself that his instincts as a play caller in big pressure situations are not reliable, and commit to making a big change to how he approaches them in the future.

The red zone play calling was bad.  But, in fairness, if we run it between the tackles 4 times and get stuffed, the *exact same people here* are losing their minds about how you can't do that against Ohio St, blah, blah.

Like OU last year. “HOW CAN YOU RUN IT UP THE MIDDLE 3 TIMES YOU STUBBORN FUCK!”

It was a horrible sequence of plays tonight. Not a good moment for him but he ain’t the first good playcaller to have sequences or plays he wishes he had back.

Don’t understand all the doom and gloom talk. We’re probably having a completely different conversation if Baxter doesn’t get injured.

Baxter might in fact prove to be all that, but even when healthy, he hasn't exactly been that sort of difference maker at the position. You're expecting a lot out of him

At this point, Sark is a less douchey James Franklin.

He's fucking not. We've won big games under Sark.  OU twice, at Bama, aggy, 2 playoff games.  His 2 playoff losses could easily have been wins.  We're close.  Fuck... I really hope Arch opens things up for Sark next season.  A run threat QB with a great deep ball.  If the defense doesn't take too big a step back and we add the right offensive pieces, we're right there.

Sark had basically one stupid play call the whole game.  Overall he called a good game.  There were lots of yards left on the field.  Lots of dumb penalties.  And playing against the best defense we faced.  He and his play calling and coaching had us 1 play from the final game twice.  Fuck off haters.

I will point out if we don't give up the TD with 20 seconds left in the half from the 25 yard line on that screen pass, the score is 14-14 there and we kick the field goal. Well, try to kick the field goal in any case. Then it's on the defense to stop them.

That TD on the screen pass changed the complexion of everything.

Yes. But we were in the game until we ran a toss sweep from the 1. Then, we were out of the game. It was retarded. It ended our season.

What a shitty press conference ho hum response to the goal line. “Just lined up and couldn’t get it done”. wtf. Blame yourself with you shitty playcalling at the 1.

There's basically only one play you can't call in that situation and it's a RB wide toss. It's a play that if not executed properly gets serious negative yards, which is what happened.

It’s not that we need him to be Bijan… we need backs that are durable enough to run the type of game Sark prefers: inside zone.

anyone else remember the 4th and 1 toss play to Henry Melton we ran against Ohio State in '05? Similar play with similar results.

Only difference is it was on 4th down so our defense got the safety after.

Yeah, for most of this game, the difference was that each team had a screen pass for a touchdown, but ours got ankle tackled.

And if Little Orphan Andy had hit either of the field goals he bricked in Atlanta, we're the SEC champs.

We're *that* close.  After 13 years of being a laughing stock, we have a conference championship and two final fours, and half of y'all are like this guy sucks.

This thread is not going to age well, y'all.  Watch.

Two things can be true at the same time. Sark is an excellent coach. This loss is Sark's fault.

Giving up a screen before half, goal line play calling into a ewers fumble scoop and score. We were the best team in the country with horrendous fuck ups. Even the aggy game where ewers single handily kept them in the game and we needed a defensive goal line stand to seal the game. Sark needs to do a better job at being the head coach and getting this team laser focused with a killer instinct.

Sark needs to own those calls. If he can't find it within himself to do that, he is in for a disappointing run.

He didn’t. He justified it by some bullshit if you block it perfectly blah blah blah

This is stupid. I would rather have him than any other coach except for maybe Freeman. Plenty of mistakes were made by multiple people.

This was OU last season all over again but for something a lot more important. I just don't get that entire sequence. You put Arch in in what was a very risky situation that could've resulted in being down 14 and just leave him standing there on a 1st and goal at the 1 when you just need 1 yard. I have to hope next year will be different with Arch under Sark but fuck I'm going to need to see the evidence.

Hail Mary.

Will be really interesting to see how Sark and the team grow from this loss and season. They have gotta figure out how to run consistently. Talk about not trusting your run game at the freaking 1 yard line.

He is an elite QB from winning it all. I can see it happening in Arch's second year as a starter. I never thought Quinn would bring us a championship. He has been too inconsistent this year.

Elite like Riley Leonard? Or Will Howard? Ewers was the best QB in the quarterfinals.

Obviously, we were not the best team.  If Arizona State didn’t show you that, then tonight did.  O line got pushed around, D was close to inept.  Not even going into coaching and play calling.

Will Howard was better than he was tonight. Why do I care about the quarterfinals?

It doesn't matter if we have Baxter or not. That fucking toss play is absolutely fucking braindead retarded playcalling.

As much as Herman’s pigheaded stubbornness was infuriating, sometimes you need that sort of mentality.

Remember the 4th and 1 against Georgia in the Sugar Bowl? Herman said "fuck it, we are running it straight ahead four straight times and we're going to get into the end zone if it kills us". And that's what we did to win the game.
