Muschamp is going to help us not miss a beat. He’s a high energy coach, a former HC who will take care of business. He fielded some elite defenses last time he wore the burnt orange, I’m excited for next season. Next question”
Saturday at 06:30 PM4 days 3 hours ago, Thatguy said: Whoa now. I mean we all like PK but his side of the ball was just as much a problem THIS season. Sans OU, that Florida- Arkansas run was not good defense. It's not just about points scored, it's that you couldn't put the lid on teams when you needed to. It wasn't that long ago that 3rd and PK was a running joke. We were truly solid defensively for a single year, largely based on personnel. We weren't doing anything special schematically. Again, Champ hasn't been calling games for a good minute so things may not work out, but when he was here it was obvious that dudes understood their assignment, played fast, and aggressive. We played some exotics too with split field coverages. Mainly though, when it was time to man up and get after it we did. What it looks like is Sark wants someone he can give full autonomy to on their side of the ball and he can focus more on offense. Georgia has that with Mike Bobo. You and others continue to miss the point of the post. Go back, read mine then read yours. The move had the exact desired effect. Sark gets to keep his shittastic GM and OL coach and everyone is talking about the defense which only went downhill when Akina was brought in. Who's decision was it to bring on Akina? That question is not really the point the point is we will get the exact same bullshit on offense we have and there was zero indication or any evidence provided that Sark was putting energy into the defensive side. Thats the new narrative. I'm sure we'll continue to ignore the real issue in our discussions and continue to talk about Muschamp who was co-DC before he moved off. People keep forgetting that reality. Advantage Sark and his ego. I'm done with the topic as the results vs OSU in the first game will tell the tale.

Also, taking PK out of it, you don’t think Muschamp could give us a bump in portal and high school recruiting? He seems to be connected and has always brought energy in those areas. Well he was co-DC that quit to "spend time with his family". What's the reality, I'm sure I don't know but that's an extremely questionable reason to step down from being a co-DC and giving up all that money. As for recruiting, there is a ton of pseudo science in that world. It might, but it might not. But ya missed the entire point of my post. This move has everyone talking about the Texas Defense when the OL, RZ, TOP and running game have been the biggest and most consistent issues for Sark during his entire tenure. However, we didn’t lose in 2023 because of the offense. Last year the defense let a garden gnome rush for 200 yards on us. We let Klubnik throw for 336 on us. We’ve had 1 really good defensive season out of 4. Akina really has nothing to do with it. Offensively the we made the changes schematically that we needed to help Arch. The rest is bad interior Oline evals and not trying to upgrade them the entire time Majors was here. Both sides of the ball need to be addressed but no point in pulling our hair out over Sark calling plays, dude will take play calling to his grave. Take your wins where you can get them.

Also, the portal opens in 2 weeks. The makeup of our roster in 2026 is still TBD. Relax.

Muschamp was allowed to basically be as involved as he wanted to be at Georgia. He is at Georgia because his son Jackson played there. When Jackson graduated and Whit (his younger son) enrolled at Vanderbilt, Muschamp stepped back from a gameday position so he could attend Vanderbilt games. All of UGA assumed he was another year away from returning to a position or DC role. Him taking a position at another school is a surprise to them and not a welcome one.
Sunday at 03:01 PM3 days Winning pressers is not what I'm primarily concerned about. Texas has been a top 4-10 team for 3 straight years imo. The biggest issue with the program isn't categorically the offense. It's that when they play a defense that is capable of keeping their LB's free while playing light boxes, Texas becomes one dimensional. Very few teams are capable of this, but Georgia and Ohio State have done it every matchup. Texas hasn't had a single interior lineman that is capable of driving a Buckeye or Bulldog backwards often times not even with a double team. This is the key issue that has to be corrected imo. Quarterback run game can help some, which is probably why Sark has been moving towards mobile qbs. Developing or picking up a transfer TE/H-back that can actually block with angles and inline would help immensely.
