July 14, 20223 yr The Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday agreed to terms with star forward Johnny Gaudreau on a seven-year contract, the team announced, landing NHL free agency's biggest name in a stunning move. Gaudreau's deal with the Blue Jackets is for $68.25 million, carrying an average annual value of $9.75 million against the NHL salary cap. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/34239560/forward-johnny-gaudreau-joins-columbus-blue-jackets-seven-year-deal-sources-sayThis makes zero sense. He took less money from a worse team than those he was linked to (Flames, Devils and Isles) — and apparently wound up taking less than Columbus offered initially. [emoji2369]

July 17, 20223 yr One of my best friends lives in the Cherry Creek/Country Club neighborhood in Denver. Landeskog lives nearby. Apparently one of my buddy's neighborhood friends was working from home last week, and the doorbell rang. He opened the door to find the Stanley Cup and the two guys who travel with it on his porch. He explained to them that they had the wrong address and helped them find the correct one, but not before he got pictures with the Cup.
July 21, 20223 yr Didn't really have Matthew Tkachuk giving the Flames the big middle finger on my bingo card. Then i remembered his last name is Tkachuk
July 23, 20223 yr And it was done quickly. Quote Matthew Tkachuk and Jonathan Huberdeau had the best years of their career this past season. And now they're changing places in an NHL blockbuster. Tkachuk was traded to the Florida Panthers on Friday night, with Huberdeau part of the haul going to the Calgary Flames for the power forward. Florida also sent defenseman MacKenzie Weegar, prospect Cole Schwindt and a lottery-protected first-round selection in the 2025 NHL draft. "Matthew is a tenacious, physical competitor who possesses a tremendously unique skillset," Panthers general manager Bill Zito said. "He is a consistent elite offensive contributor and has emerged as one of the most complete and dynamic young players in the National Hockey League. We are thrilled to be able to add a generational talent to our lineup." As part of the move, Tkachuk is under contract with Florida through the 2029-30 season now as well, the Panthers said; a person familiar with the terms said it was worth $76 million over those eight years https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/34282948/matthew-tkachuk-heads-florida-panthers-jonathan-huberdeau-calgary-flames-blockbuster-trade
