Mighty fine!  Is that corn casserole?  I didn't see that option when I was there.

Yes, and it was delicious. Hiding behind the bread was spicy mac and cheese.

brisket was 1A top tier with anyone in the state

that could apply to a lot of places on any given day.  go back 15 times in 6 months and see how many times it’s still 1A.

Looking to pick up lunch to take to a friend in RR tomorrow.  Should I expect a line at Brotherton's?

Plan on ordering online to pick up, but looked at their website, and the online ordering page says not accepting orders...I assume that's because it's after hours but want to plan if I need to order in person.

#12864

no clue how good this is going to be, but do know I wish I was close enough to Longview to go try it...

in my experience, no line. also, there has been a significant drop in quality since brotherton died.

Thanks - any alternatives up there?  Buddy is a 70+yr old guy I used to work with 20yrs ago when Bone Daddy's was our occasional Friday BBQ lunch.  Not looking for Franklin quality, but I'd rather get the best available, if possible.

#12867

i'm not aware of anything else in the general area, so it's still probably your best bet.

Brotherton's should be fine with that caveat.

There is nothing in Round Rock.  Closest decent barbecue joints:  Brotherton's, Stiles Switch in Cedar Park, and BBQ Fiends in Hutto (doesn't open on Fridays until mid-afternoon).

I had no clue where to put this but knew y'all would appreciate it.

Friend of mine is from and lives in Singapore.  He went to Manila on business and went to a Texas Roadhouse in some faux Venice-like shopping mall.  He posted a picture of his food including these nachos.  They are a sight to behold...

Is Vic's FB friends food thread still a thing, or did that die w/ shaggy?  Because that's where that pic goes.

Corn chips and cheese.

I think they read a comma where there wasn’t one.

#12874

Sheesh.  Been a minute since I paid attention to specific pricing.  Just compared to Rudy's (I know - it's just the easiest to find).

Update:  Brotherton's pork ribs were acceptable, not excellent.  Did think it was a generous "pound" in my order, so that was nice.

Jalapeno cheddar sausage link was pretty damn good.

Bill Dumas, the Sausage Sensei, worked at Brotherton's until last year.  He's working at a place in Seguin now, but I wouldn't be surprised if Brotherton's still used his sausage.

I live less than 10 minutes away from Hurtado and have eaten his bbq since his food truck. The brisket is great, love his tacos and different sausages.  Those tortillas made with the brisket tallow will know your dick in the dirt.  The cornbread is very inconsistent ranging from Texas treasure to hockey puck. I am concerned about his expansion and dilution of quality being a 7 day operation.

i also live 10 minutes from Goldee’s, 225, Off the Bone, and soon to be Roy Hutchins.  Where do I mostly eat?  The OG…David’s. (Nephew of Sonny Bryan)  Old school with a drive thru.  Great choice brisket $20/lb.  Fantastic ham and turkey $15/lb which I buy instead of deli meats. Ribs $16.99 /lb.  (Typical old timey Texas ribs…not my favorite)

We’ll be down first weekend of April for GD’s big 5th birthday, thinking of hitting up Goldee’s that Friday after coming in on Thursday.

We had the carrots and onion rings.  I thought the steak was good but a little underwhelmed given the pedigree.  Best part was Evan Leroy slicing it at the table and giving him a hard time about being a celebrity chef now.

is “blavck” a typo or some haughty foreign spelling for mushrooms?

because, if it’s a typo, that’s sloppy and lazy and a terrible reflection not only of how he approaches his business but of the man himself.

Damn straight.  If it's a typo, then it's "War on Christmas" awful.

But if it's this, I'm fifty-one years old, and I don't understand.

This is the lunch you order when you have beyond a shadow of a doubt nothing needs to get done for the rest of the work day.
