Probably Instagram.  Not surprisingly, following barbecue joints is about the only reason I have an Instagram account.

Took a few people to Mum Foods this past week.   Pastrami was very good, but I liked the ribs and sausage better.

Not initially.  The first one you get is the stuff of prison riots.  You have to wait and get one of the fresh ones passed out by the roll wench.

The grammar is triggering.

Maybe it's two people named "Luckie"?  Like "Franklin"?

Neither of them understand commas.

Friends want to go to burnt bean on Sunday. I see they open at 8 am. Any idea what time we’d need to get there to eat at a reasonable time ?

Went on Friday at 11:30 spent three hours in line.  The only thing they ran out of was ribs.

Stiles Switch lunch last Friday.
Sausage of the month, brisket, ribs, and picanha.

Great place to go to for a business lunch.  Always good with almost no line.

Friend’s co-worker coming to Austin this weekend for BBQ. Anyone know what wait time is at LA BBQ or Styles on the weekends?

Styles should be no issue - You’ll be through in 10 min or less. Hell, go to Mum and it’ll be faster and just as good if not better depending on selections.

LA is likely gonna be a line… this time of year I don’t expect it to be crazy, maybe 30 mins, but bet others could give more accurate numbers

It's consistently been an hour plus during the week over the past several months.

With the the Michelin star earlier this year and the TM Top 50 coming out last month, that makes sense.  I think la Barbecue still has ordering online without a minimum of 5lbs or whatever most places have.

What kind of flavor/sauce was on the pork belly?

Haven't been there in years, since they were in the top 50

Still served the best breakfast brisket taco I've ever had.

I think I screwed up. Swung by Luling at about 4 today and there was a line at City Market. There was some big carnival in town so I’d imagine people drifted over there. So I said no big deal, Lockhart is like 15 minutes away. We went to Black’s. I just wanted sausage so it was pretty good.

Is Black’s the best in Lockhart? I wouldn’t think so.

Barbs B Q and Terry Black's Barbecue are much better than The Original Black's Barbecue.  I like Kreuz Barbecue better than the Original Black's.

Solely for sausage I would probably chose Smitty's Market or Kreuz.

Stopped by la Barbecue for lunch.   Got there about 10:15 and the line wasn't long at all.

Outside of Louie Mueller, this was the most inefficient line I've experienced.

Ordered moist brisket, pork ribs, jalapeño sausage, chipotle sausage, chopped and cheese sausage, and chipotle slaw.

20250629_114435.thumb.jpg.3c79ac147acacb63abb9f54a26708e60.jpg

Brisket was spot on with a great bark, pork ribs were over cooked and sauced too sweet for me.  I only tried the jalapeño sausage - it was a real coarse grind and was stuffed with jalapeño slices seeds and all.   I like the grind and flavor.   Looking forward to trying the other links.

Not a bad trip overall, but not near as good as InterStellar.

RedBird had an infuriatingly slow line. Like, i wanted to kill the owner but damn was he nice (and chatty). Took almost 2 hours to serve 35 or so people.

No, not joking

You haven’t been to the Burnt Bean I see?   Talk about slow and inefficient.

Speaking of lines….  How fast does the line move at Leroy & Lewis?  It’s been on my try list for awhile and I will up that way in a few weeks and want to give a try finally.

Not fast at all.  My #1 criticism of them in the new spot is their ridiculous inefficiency at the counter.  Get there early - like 11:30, not 8:30.

lulz.  I know Rudy's isn't top 50 level barbecue, but their spicy chop is plenty edible and costs barely half that amount.

Cooper's isn't Top 50 level, either, but here we are.

Are these BBQ joints owned by aggy alums or boosters?    If so they need to update Smolik's in Mathis because it's now owned by Greeks who own the U&I Restaurant and Nikos  among others in Corpus.  I don't think they are aggy, but who knows?

And even under the previous owners, it was decent BBQ.  But it's not destination place exactly other than being off I-37.    Personally you go the Butters in Sinton for much better BBQ.

LOL.  One of my four food groups while attending King HS was to walk over to the nearby Roy's BBQ stand (RIP) and get 5 chopped beef sammiches for $1.25.  Good old days syndrome brings a smile when I see prices like this at Cooper's.

Great lunch alternative!     What’s funny about that Cooper’s price is chopped is supposed to be the cheaper option.    The sliced version must be $40 per pound.  Pass, and I mean huge pass especially at Coopers.
