And won their fair share. I loved great programs. We were one once. Once it became a bagman bidding war in the wide open spaces, we were doomed. A California public university is far more interested in investing in science and other things. Hell, we invented the internet upon which we are conversant. Football, while a nice sideline, is not what makes this university tick. It’s groundbreaking medical advancements, and astrophysicists and business leaders. And these nerds aren’t as passionate about football as I am. I wish I was a whale. I’m just not. But hoping a few find their way to the athletic program. Because UCLA generates a FORTUNE I; donations. But unlike Texas, it goes to stupid shit like saving lives and eyesight, and the like. I wish it went to football. Edited April 17Apr 17 by Sbbruin
April 17Apr 17 That’s a shame, as I vividly remember Troy Aikman guiding the Bruins in his Bowl game (Senior year) while driving back (radio) from SETX back to Fort Sill, OK. Time is flying by but I think it was UCLA vs Arky in the Cotton? Such a historic program and Top-5 Home uniform -IMO.Hook’em!!!

Oh man, it’s always glorious when the bitter tears come out. It’s happening more and more these days. Texas shows everyone what a payroll to meet looks like, finally, and other fans can’t handle it. So then they start grasping at straws in whatever direction they can find to make themselves feel better. We’re not the bad guys in all of this, Sbb. You have a great institution, so do we. Your athletics department has tumbled into the shitter in some important sports and climbing out will be tough, but you sold your soul to join the Big 10 rather than get left behind and you’ll get there.

It’s a good school. As mentioned, Californians just aren’t passionate about football. That’s ok. We’ve spent years sucking at football because we didn’t prioritize it. And when other schools were buying players, we weren't, because there are lines our alums didn’t want to cross. We consider ourselves above that, maybe arrogantly so, but we stuck to our guns and would never have hired Chip Kelly, for instance. It’s awesome that we’re in a time that we can utilize our resources and outbid other schools while staying within the rules. I certainly don’t want to see rules changes.

It doesn't always work properly, but because you seem like a reasonable person, we'd be glad to loan it to you anyway.

April 18Apr 18 The longer this takes, the less confident I am that it’s gonna happen. Our $9.95ers remain confident, saying they are working out the NIL details and working through admissions. But we got spurned by his little bro on signing day. I don’t trust this family.
April 18Apr 18 I hope it works out for you SBB. You’ve been a quality asset to this forum and wish you the best, unless we have to meet head to head in any sport.I like your school better than your in-town rival. But that special Saturday each Fall, with both wearing “home uniforms” is magic to my old eyes, regardless of outcome. That image is like Thursday at Augusta to me, just a painting in glory.Hook’em!!!

I have the feeling that UCLA's lawyers are smarter than Tennessee's and they're rightfully spending a shitload of time on the NIL contract.

April 18Apr 18 The “lighter shade” for UCLA blue should be mandatory and that uniform brand creator be fired! Don’t F with greatness! That’d be like Nike saying, no Texas, we want you to wear “traffic cone” orange this year.Hook’em!!

Is your current QB depth chart garbage? Because I saw Nico play a lot last year and was not at all impressed. I think he is closer to DJ Ugalelei than he is Cam Ward.

April 18Apr 18 SBB - the youngsters’ don’t realize, but the “lighter” UCLA blue was perfect - IMO. The brand that decided to “make the blue hue darker” IMO needs to be fired! They made that change in uniforms roughly a decade ago, both men and women sports.Hook’em!!!

April 19Apr 19 For sure. Add in Texas, USC, Penn St, and Bama. I’ll add Michigan as a classic too. Helmet alone speaks for itself.Hook’em!!!
April 19Apr 19 LSU wearing “Home Whites” is also a classic move. Over 80% of their games, they wear white tops home or road. I didn’t like the white helmet and purple jersey combo that started a decade+ ago. Don’t F with greatness!Hook’em!!!
April 19Apr 19 Today I was shocked to learn that schools such as Texas, Michigan, and Florida were forced to disband their world class research programs in science, engineering, and medicine to afford football players’ NIL and field competitive teams.

April 19Apr 19 I like the ND choice, definitely Top 10, but do you go with the rarely utilized green jersey or stick with Navy Blue, since we’re talking complete uniforms?I always like to see ND in green jerseys.Hook’em!!!

April 20Apr 20 Yes - but they really only change it up once a year, for the “Shamrock Series” game. I’m just so glad, we don’t have a one-week F-off with the uniform week.Hook’em!!!
