Man, I get shat on for admitting that I had subway for lunch, then I come here and there is an entire thread of people bragging about eating mcribs for 2 consecutive meals.

Yeah, not sure I understand the disdain for Subway; out here in the culinary desert of West Texas, they usually have the best lettuce, spinach, peppers, etc. in town and are the only choice for a sandwich.  (There are those triangular manufactured things from the truck stop).  Never had any gastric upset, or actually known anyone that did-could happen, probably a dressing neglect problem.  OTOH, I’ve eaten meals from several mom’n’pop meat and three places in the equivalent little towns that left me dehydrated and trembling for a couple of days.  You eat out, roll the dice.

Not to change the topic but I tried the Arby's version of their rib sandwich and it was pretty good...  That being said, I always ask for extra onions and pickles when I order my McRibs...

Why would you eat a reheated mcrib? Just go back and get another fresh one later.

Yep. If I don’t finish it, the dogs are happy to catch in the air whatever I didn’t finish.

McDonalds breakfast is pretty freakin good

aside from their breakfast burritos yes.  Vendor brought in some of those a few weeks back and they are terribad.

Yeah, I was kidding about asking about who/how they were smoked out back behind McDonald's.  But yeah, I remember them popping up out of the blue as a kid.  But I figured for supply chain/national marketing consistency purposes...McDonald's released them at the same time each year.  But fuck it, I've been eating pretty damn good the last six months and swimming again.  So yeah, I'm gonna grab a couple at lunch and eat one then and one for dinner after a few beers.
It's the least I can do for murdering Grimace in that snuff film years ago.

I’m getting a little tired of your lies.

It was a porn film. Your poor decisions turned it into a snuff film.

That's a pretty risky move by a vendor, "Gotta grease the wheels over at T'Boo, Inc.  Not much time to stop anywhere though.  McDonald's has a fast drive-thru.  I could grab a smattering of different kinds of biscuits, hash browns, etc?  Nah, I'll go with the one item on the menu that doesn't fit with everything else...breakfast burritos.  Unless I get a bunch of filet-o-fishes and put them inside McDonald's tortillas---which they are known for."

Fuck it, I'm getting a McRib this weekend.  The in-laws are in town and it's a good excuse for me to just hide in the bathroom for an hour on Sunday.

I too have had sugar bread in the last week.

Just had my first McRib of the season.

Chomp.

I’ve never had one. They gross me out.

Sounds like something my kid would say.

”No, I hate that. It’s disgusting!”

”No, but I hate it!”

Tried one today. Hadn't had one since I was a kid. And there's apparently a reason. Gross.

I was going to order one today, but decided to get a double quarter pounder.

And then when I got home and opened the box I found that they gave me a regular quarter pounder. Fucking thieves.

Anyone order one of the McRib molds off of the intertrons and pack a bunch of leftover pulled pork into it?  Seems like that might be an upgraded McRib.

It’s like porn, you know you really shouldn’t indulge but you do anyway.

Checking in. Had the first one of the season and introduced them to little man too.  Then used his left overs to catch 3 catfish in the neighborhood pond.

They definitely don’t skimp on the pickles and onions. And the sauce is pretty good.

I had one last week. The Arby’s Real Country Rib Sandwich commercials make the McRib look really good and it put me in the mood.

I don’t believe that’s from Sam’s, there’s only 10 in a box, unless it comes in a 4-pack of 10 in a box.

Yeah but that’s usually a conversation about something healthy.

Are you telling us that the McRib is not healthy?  According to the nutritional label, it has 24 grams of protein and 20% of your daily recommended intake of iron.  What's unhealthy about that?

Why do I take dining advice from you savages?  I thought, "Hey, the community here has really come together during Covid-19, let's take their advice and grab a McRib for the first time in your life."  I had a few beers after work at the Hide Out last Friday and thought, "What the hell.  Let's grab one for dinner."  It really wasn't that bad.  Wasn't that good either.  Like most things in pop culture, I didn't get the hype, I didn't get the hate.  Had a small fry and water with it.  Didn't even think much of it until the next morning.

Then I awoke to my stomach trying to fist-fuck my own colon.  The morning after abortion shit I took consisted of basically just my body re-heating the "BBQ" sauce they use and letting it fly out my asshole.  It smelled like a Subway sandwich shop was condemned, looted, and the leftover ham was crammed through my small intestine using expired dipping sauce brought back from Malaysia.  It was unholy.

But yeah, I'll probably grab one more before the end of the calendar year.

I went to the drive thru today, here in Mexico, and asked for the McRib.  It was a no go, never heard of it.  Well, i tried to contribute to this thread.  I got a McCrispy instead.

Had one Monday.

While I appreciate the enthusiasm of the thread and I tried to celebrate a nostalgic item from my past....it just didn't hold up.

It's not as glorious as I remembered.

There is a McDonalds in LaMarque.  As a kid, I have vivid and fond memories of 1) all-day fishing trips down to Galveston from our home in Houston.  We'd fish all day, having only eaten breakfast on the way down.  On the way back, we would be hungry as hell.  And if the McRib was back, for some reason, we would always stop at that McDonalds and get a McRib or two.  My dad was not a fast-food guy.  He knew good grub, and introduced me to a lot of it.  But for some reason, he liked that sammich.
They taste like fishing trips with my dad.  I need to get one.  Soon.
Similar memories. Usually JIB tacos on the island, but we would hit that McDonalds for two for $1 Big Macs.
Until i got food poisoning, puked all over the place that night and couldn't deal with any of that Ronald McDonald shit for a couple decades.

I never had any McRibs like the ones I had when I was 12. Jesus, does anyone?

In my professional medical opinion, it sounds like you have a gastrointestinal condition that has nothing to do with the McRib.

I thought you were pre-law?

Wait...you drank water from McDonald's? There's your problem.

No, I had it with me in the car.  It's been 20 years since I ordered a drink from a McDonald's once I saw that ice machine.

I'm only now back to being regular again, a few days later.  Wowza, slow burn on the McRib and I ain't talking about the smoking process.

They should bring it back during Shamrock Shake season just to see what the human body is truly capable of.

  • 2 weeks later...

Not directly related, but McRib-adjacent.  Finally fell for marketing inundation.  Dropped off the older one at school and took advantage of the 63cent Egg McMuffin deal this morning.  Took me 5 minutes to download and get the app thing to agree with me to get the deal but figured since I'd never had one, like the McRib, time to try it and it was only 68 cents with tax.  Pretty tasty actually, liked it more than the McRib.  I'm not above McDonald's.  I get a quarter pounder there every now and again, but never a McRib and never an Egg McMuffin.

I ate that Egg McMuffin at 7:30a this morning.  I have shat three times already.  Each one angrier than the previous.  What the fuck are they putting in their food these days?
