pretty....emotive descriptions there

Well, at first I thought that was some new form of secular Liberty U or Hillsdale or something.  And maybe it is.

But I heard this guy on NPR arguing that aspects of the "anti-racism movement" have become so dogmatic as to take on some of the worst aspects of religion and may actually be retarding the advancement of civil rights.  https://www.npr.org/2021/11/05/1052650979/mcwhorters-new-book-woke-racism-attacks-leading-thinkers-on-race

Also makes for a really interesting trademark case.  Bet Lou and Bill are scratching their heads at the moment.

How's this year's crop of freshman chicks lookin?

Is UATX public or private? Non-profit or for-profit?

UATX is a private, non-profit institution. We are fiscally sponsored by Cicero Research, which is an exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

It's private, so atleast they'll be dressed nice

Finances

Will UATX receive public funding?

UATX has no plans to accept public funding. But we are researching the effect of public funding on students and on research grants.

So how will you have the money to run a university?

We have secured the seed money necessary to launch the university. But we are in the process of securing $250 million, which will enable us to grow into a comprehensive university.

If $250M is all it takes, Elon Musk's TITS program starts to look like a real possibility

Or a Terrorist Front of Islam.

What's the over/under on when Rogan get's "invited" to speak....

2100 block of Rio Grande?  I haven’t been in Austin in a few years, and I am aware that west campus is undergoing a lot of changes, but I am having a hard time picturing the real estate that would be available on that block to establish a university.

Can't make this up. California strikes again. The trademark:

Honestly, now that I've seen that I wonder if this is even the same group. It says it was first used nearly a decade ago. That's a loooong time to have been planning this in secret when the issues they seem to focused on weren't on the radar. Could it be they started "The University of Austin" and don't own the trademark to that name?

Good find. I doubt that it is the same outfit.

Some oddities.  It's on the Supplemental Register, and was applied for on the Supplemental Register, which is some acknowledgement that it's primarily descriptive, or geographically descriptive, or geographically misdescriptive. It's also bizarre, as applicants usually wait for the Office to make that rejection before moving to the Supplemental Register.  It's not a full-on trademark registration.

Second, it is long overdue for a Section 8 Affidavit of Use, so will eventually be cancelled.  Not sure why it hasn't been.

In any event, this isn't going to complicate the situation between UT Austin and University of Austin.

Like a third of their faculty are in the Epstein flight logs.

Will they beat us in football?

If they field a team, yes

Well, if you ever wondered how many cucks it takes to start a University, you are about to find out.

UT-Dallas and University of Dallas coexist, so barring prior claims to the name/mark, that doesn't seem to be a big issue.

The fact that it appears to be a giant grift does appear to be an issue.

In this same area, what's the word on the Acton School of Business?

Is Acton accredited?
For almost two decades Acton has been accredited through Hardin-Simmons University by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and most recently was in good standing with the Higher Learning Commission. However, in order to allow us to innovate freely and continue to disrupt business education, we are relinquishing any and all accreditation to free us from bureaucratic constraints.

Accreditation? That's just more red tape!
