It's like you don't see that this problem is only getting worse and not better? What is the number of deaths/incidents when your risk assessment changes to "ok, NOW we should probably do something"?

Not sure how you get that from that post. There has been lots and lots and lots of discussion related to gun control measures on this board. In those I have supported a wide range of common sense gun control reforms.

Actually no remains have ever been found.  The "mass graves" was big news, but the "we ain't found shit" part of the story has received little if any exposure from the media.

Negged for posting a flat-out LIE (a lie that is promulgated in -- SHOCKER -- the nutbar far right ecosystem where you seem to get ALL of your information).  There were no "mass graves" in the sense of "mass murder of indigenous kids buried in a common hole."  Which was NEVER the claim or the story.  The actual fact and story, which is what it was at the very beginning and which has not changed is that surveys (including ground penetrating radar) found numerous unmarked/unknown/lost graves, estimated to be between 2000 and 3000.  So, no, there's not a "mass grave" at any of these sites.  There are suspected numerous unmarked graves but, and this is very important, almost none of those sites has been subjected to an actual dig (out of respect for the remains suspected to be there).  The Pine Creek school had what was identified as potentially 14 unmarked graves, and the dig there did not find any remains.  Some other denialists trespassed on another property and dug a select few areas and claimed to find nothing.  But almost all of the sites remain undisturbed, because due to lack of records, it's difficult to determine whether and to what extent any specific grave may be related to a residential school or not.  It's a complex picture that will require years (likely decades) of painstaking investigation, taking into account respect for all potential human remains.

So to say they "ain't found shit" with respect to "mass graves" is a lie, because the first nations did not CLAIM that there were mass graves -- so you've committed the straw man logical fallacy (a particular favorite of the far right).  To say that nothing has been found at all is ALSO a lie, because material evidence of likely unmarked graves that may reasonably be connected to a residential school has ALSO been found.  The investigation just hasn't been completed.

Why the fuck is it so important for the right to lie about, literally fucking EVERYTHING?  Were the residential schools a GOOD thing?  Were indigenous kids there treated well in general?  Was the mission of "kill the indian, save the man" a good one?  What the fucking fuck is fucking wrong with you fucking assholes?

Was it ever reported how the 14-year-old kid in Georgia was able to get an AR-15 into school undetected? Duffle bag or something?

Dude.  It's Georgia.  Land of MTG.  Pretty sure "AR variant" is on the "necessary school supplies for the 2024-25 school year" list in that state.  It was carried in via his backpack's built-in rifle sleeve.

honestly they break down into pretty small components if you pop out the two take-down pins that hold the upper onto the lower, I could definitely see it just carried in a duffle

So he leaves the classroom, presumably to go to the bathroom, goes and gets it out of his locker and assembles it in the hallway or the bathroom and tries to take it back to his classroom?

BTW, my kid is a junior in HS and they don't even have lockers any more.

Yes. Did you hear the account from his classmate? She said he left the room and she was by the door when he came back. The door was locked and she said she saw the gun so didn’t open it for him. Then she said he turned and fired off 10-15 shots. The kids in the classroom all ran and hid in the corner.

Yeah, thought that's what happened. Just wondering how you get an AR inside without anybody noticing. Maybe it was broken down and reassembled once he went to retrieve it like @Captainant theorizes.

Just got this email from my daughter’s school district. So you’ve got a guardian that’s so mind bogglingly irresponsible that they leave their bullets (and almost certainly the gun with said bullets) where the kid can just fucking pick them up and take them without you knowing? I can’t even begin to wrap my head around someone being that fucking stupid.

Separately, what the fuck kind of sentence is “further updates will be provided if additional details are revealed.”? There sure as fuck better be additional details, the very least of which better be an outline of exactly what steps were taken to investigate if there are additional bullets and/or a gun in one of 3 schools, when you have a list of exactly which kids were on the bus to each of those schools.

When we want RT propaganda that justifies current genocide because one time democracies committed genocide, we’ll reach out to you.

These are terrorist attacks, random, senseless and meant to strike fear. And one faction of our society and numerous special interests actively prevent “reality-based calibrations.”

Kemp ISD apparently shut down all schools today after an unconfirmed threat against multiple Texas school districts today.

One of the first comments under the Spurrier rant.

Hell, no GW didnt say that fucking shit. “include their own government”. You mean the President who put down armed and pitchforked citizen rebellions, as was his duty under the constitution, said that shit?!?

Can one of you X warriors set this mfer straight?!?

Depending on Spurrier’s business interests or financial needs, if any, he may be forced to apologize or clarify his statement. If some southerners hear that he is anti-gun or woke, he could potentially lose a lot of money.

There was a story a week ago of Florida sherrifs getting fed up with constant school shooting threats with parents not punishing the kids, so the sheriffs are resorting to arresting and perp walking the kid and sort-of processing them. The drug bust-style gun spreads are a part of the shaming for kids who threaten their schools. The image included in this article:

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/florida-11-year-old-arrested-sheriff-release-mugshot-rcna171437

The release came just days after the sheriff said he would start releasing the mug shots of students who are arrested for making school shooting threats; two teenagers and the 11-year-old child were taken into custody within the last few days.

"Since parents, you don't want to raise your kids, I'm gonna start raising them," Volusia County Sheriff Mike Chitwood said at a news conference Friday. "Every time we make an arrest, your kids' photo is going to be put out there and if I can do it, I'm gonna perp walk your kid so that everybody can see what your kid's up to."

On Monday, the sheriff's office announced the arrest of the 11-year-old Creekside Middle School student who allegedly threatened to commit a school shooting and had a "written list of people he claimed he would kill," authorities said.

The boy, of Port Orange, is accused of showing off "several weapons" during a video chat with friends and threatening to commit the shooting at Creekside or Silver Sands Middle School, the sheriff's office said in a news release. Detectives were alerted through Fortify Florida, which allows people to make anonymous reports of suspicious activity to law enforcement and school officials.

The sheriff’s office released the child’s name, mug shot and a video of him being escorted into the jail. NBC News is not naming the child or showing his picture because he is a minor.

Sheriff's office should release the parents' names.

Honestly, I'm not opposed to re-instituting public shaming as a discipline device.

Unpopular opinion thread:

I know that the gun doesn't care how old its user is,  and I absolutely get why he needed to be taken into custody and charged. However,  that boy's booking photo should not have been released by the Sheriff's department, nor should it be on twitter- or here for that matter.

Yes, they appear to be air soft. Here's the Florida statute.  It's interesting that the use of a air soft gun by someone under 16 is prohibited, but apparently not the possession.  However, an adult is criminally responsible even if someone under 16 only possesses.
