Kentucky State Police and Letcher County Coroner Perry Fowler were still at the Letcher County Courthouse at 5 p.m. today investigating the shooting death of Letcher District Judge Kevin D. Mullins, apparently by the Letcher County Sheriff.

Officials say Sheriff Mickey Stines was arrested after surrendering himself to police. The shooting occurred in the judge’s chambers about 3 p.m. this afternoon (September 19).

Police had Main Street in Whitesburg cordoned off and were shooing citizens off the streets around it.

Stines allegedly walked into the judge’s outer office, told court employees and others gathered there that he needed to speak with Mullins alone. The two then went into the inner office, closed the door and those outside heard shots. Stines walked out with his hands up and surrendered to police.

Court employees were on the sidewalk outside the courthouse in shock following the shooting. Stines was handcuffed in the foyer of the courthouse. Officials expected the investigation to continue for several more hours.

Not sure that one is gonna hit precisely, but there certainly seem to be something kinda fucky going on in Kentucky. Excerpt, but some of the further information in the article draws out some of the connections. Sheriff was caught up in some lawsuits over this.

A Kentucky woman says in a federal lawsuit that when she couldn't afford to pay for home incarceration a Letcher County deputy sheriff told her she would receive “favorable treatment for sexual favors.”

In the suit filed Monday in U.S. District Court, Sabrina Adkins says Deputy Ben Fields met her in a district judge’s chambers late at night six times last year and forced her to engage in unwanted kissing, oral sex and intercourse.

Letcher County Sheriff Mickey Stines, who is named as a defendant in the suit for allegedly failing to properly train Fields, said in an interview Fields is a veteran deputy and has not been the subject of any previous complaints.

The suit says the abuse occurred in the chamber of District Judge Kevin Mullins but doesn’t say he was aware of it or allege he was involved in any wrongdoing. Mullins did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

They are investigating this as some sort of hit on an individual target.  That having been said, the shooters sure as hell didn't care about any collateral damage.

Interesting where this happened, Five Points area in Birmingham, is (or at least was, it's been a while since I've been there) a hip and trendy night life area, generally it has young people partying shenanigans, but nothing like this.

Exactly, Herbie Hancock was all, “Bros we must have full auto glocks with 100 round drum mags for our freedoms!” Today just like in 1776!

Went down the rabbit hole on the story links. Instead of finding a few spent shells there are hundreds. I figured they had aftermarket drum magazines but dang,  that's a lot of lead heading down range.

Twenty bucks will buy a switch.

SIAP

I couldn't find a thread with this, and not sure it belongs here, but the father killed by his 15-year-old son in Washington yesterday was a Longhorn by the name of Mark Humiston (2004, EE).

Teen accused of killing 5 in Fall City expected to appear in court Tuesday

In addition to killing his mom and dad, he killed 3 of his 4 siblings.

Fucking tragic.

A mom is accused of buying ammunition and tactical gear for her son, who authorities say was planning ‘mass targeted violence’ at a Texas school

Quote

A Texas mother is accused of buying ammunition and tactical gear for her son, who investigators say was planning “mass targeted violence” at a San Antonio school, according to an arrest affidavit.

Ashley Pardo, 33, was arrested Monday and charged with aiding in commission of terrorism. Authorities say she provided her son material support and resources with the knowledge they would be used to plan and carry out an attack. The alleged plot placed Jeremiah Rhodes Middle School “in further fear of serious bodily injury,” according to a Bexar County arrest affidavit obtained by CNN affiliate KSAT.

Despite being contacted by local law enforcement, child protective services and school personnel - and knowing about her son’s desire to “commit acts of mass violence” - Pardo told the school she was not concerned about his behavior, the affidavit says. Authorities say she purchased tactical gear, ammunition and supplies for her son in exchange for babysitting his younger siblings. She “intentionally and knowingly aided” her son, the affidavit states.

You know how we like to say "she looks nice?"

Yeah....nobody should say that here.

I mean, that's a San Antonio 8, right?

Man, I hope there’s someone sane in that family that can take care of and raise the other kids. They have no shot otherwise. Then again, they should have stepped in before mom was buying her son tactical gear for a school shooting in exchange for babysitting services.

I've stated my basic philosophy regarding the behavior of others. I don't care what you do as long as you don't hurt anybody and I don't have to watch. She shatters the first part. I don't care about the second regarding her appearance.

It's not nice, but it's none of my business.

In EXCELLENT news, the tariffs must be working, because the US is now ramping up its export of . . . our go-to means of public expression, school shootings!

https://www.kvue.com/article/news/crime/austrian-school-shooting-kills-8/507-69de2626-dc7d-4b03-8d06-265eb8ede0f3

VIENNA, Austria — A former student opened fire at a school in Austria’s second-biggest city on Tuesday, killing nine people and wounding at least 12 others before taking his own life, authorities said.

There was no immediate information on the motive of the 21-year-old man, who had no previous police record. He used two weapons, which he was believed to have owned legally, police said.

Deficit shrinking, as we speak!

And they say American soft power is declining….

if you listen at all to scanners it does indeed sound like the fire was intentionally set and the firefighters were ambushed and shot. 😢

this shit is pretty fluid right now (as is the case with all shootings):

I have no idea if all of the above is accurate but that’s what is being relayed via scanner.
