guns, relative to other consumer products like cars or fridges or phones, essentially last forever.  it's not like you need to replace a 1911 every few years because the new one has leather and laser cruise control and air conditioned seats.  but every once in a while the gun manufacturers happen upon a new category, and, in this instance, it was a semi-auto carbine that could accept a lot of accessories.  *eventually* there's a saturation point.

I just retweeted the video of that kid and his mom running toward the camera.

Do we have a list of these folks that we can innundate with these things every time they tweet?

That interview was particularly brutal. It’s like listening to a WWII veteran talk about what they saw on the beaches of Normandy or in Bastogne.

Except in 2023 America it’s a family shopping for jeans at the outlet mall.

I live in Allen. I knew it was only a matter of time before it happened here locally in this northeast part of the metroplex.

Thankfully I hate the outlet so only go once a year for Christmas shopping but only on a Wednesday and only after 8 pm. My wife and the girls like to go there occasionally though and could easily have been today. She got me a shirt at that H&M not too long ago.

It's all just shit. As long as millions keep voting republican it can never change.

Honestly, when does it become time to target them? How bad is bad enough to justify it? To make their lives and the lives of their families as disposable as they've made ours?

Yep. We've been there multiple times as a family as my wife goes to the BR outlet up there. I have a distinct memory of taking my girls there after a soccer tournament. We ate at one of the fast food places around there. It was mid-November 2015. Wife and I were going to Paris for her birthday the next year. Read on my phone about the Bataclan terrorist shootings while my kids were finishing up their meals. Had to pause a bit and say do we really want to take a trip to some place that could be that dangerous? I mean they are so close to Muslim fundamentalists who want to kill Westerns. Of course we went and it was perfectly safe. Little did I realize the terror I was worried about would be a commonplace thing in this country and I had to just hope our number would never come up here. We're such a broken country. We make it so easy for angry people to unleash massive amounts of destruction on the most vulnerable. I'm sure if you could do a study on these shooters, you'd find out pretty easily why they target our children, the most vulnerable of all of us. Maybe it's anger over their own childhoods. Maybe it's anger that some kids are doing well or have parents that love them. Or maybe they just want to destroy something pretty. The real sadness is why we let them do this. Our society created a vaccine in under 6 months to stop a virus from killing multiple millions. Yet we can do absolutely nothing about firearms that kill hundreds on a daily basis.

Oh they want to talk about a lack of mental health institutions in this country?

Well let's see in 1980 democrat president Carter signed the Mental Health Systems Act of 1980 to bolster the funding for mental health institutions in the US. A year later republican president Reagan signed the Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981 that repealed pretty much all of it and cut budgeting for mental health even further. In the 42 years since republicans have been responsible for further cuts.

So that's on you republican fucks too. The entire problem is on you.

Did we check on the immigration status on the victims yet cause if they are here illegally then they don’t count? Or if they didn’t come here they wouldn’t gotten shot?

Putin appears to be thinking about the blowie he got from Megyn the night before.

IMO There is plenty of room to define AR15 style weapons as "destructive devices" to not have to overcome 2A.  I never thought Roe v Wade would get overturned either so I'm not against pushing for 2A modifications either. There are plenty of weapons we are currently not allowed to possess. At the very least these weapons should be made cost prohibitive.

Think about that.  Mass shootings can be ignored because some people don't know what "AR" stands for.  The mind rot is real.

Yep. Like clockwork, the right has come out with their standard trio of responses: 1)) it’s too soon to talk politics, BUT…. 2) thoughts and prayers, and we need more God and Jesus, and 3) the solution to there being so many highly lethal guns out there is…we need more people with more guns.

We are the worst fucking society. I hate it. I hate that they’ve won. That they’ve created their dream, and the inevitable result is a little girl with her face blown off. Oh…who am I kidding. “A” little girl with her face blown off - no, it’s been dozens of them. We’ll get up to the hundreds, probably in the next 5 years. Every one of them a trophy to put on the shelf as a symbol of their victory. It’s over. They’ve won. This is who we are, and what we will be, forever.

It's also on point for far too many people.

So the country with the most guns also has more mass shootings than the rest of the world combined. Golly, I'm sure there is an answer there but I'm just not smart enough to locate it. More guns?

Like, in that argument.... "Well it's 2040, and every person in America now walks around with five guns. And there hasn't been a mass shooting in years! I don't know why we never tried this before. Stupid liberals."

If a conservative Supreme Court can toss Roe on a whim, a liberal one can toss ar-15 and other dumbass guns to the bottom of the ocean. Years ago Warren Burger called out the NRA’s interpretation of the 2nd as a fraud. It would not be that difficult to craft an opinion better reasoned than Dobbs to make most of not all guns illegal. Especially with the Court being just an disrespected partisan tool these days. We just need to hope for some untimely deaths for the religious fundies looking to install Jesus as president.

damn, we were driving up to see SIL in Allen yesterday and saw a shitload of emergency vehicles en route to somewhere in a hurry.  congrats i guess to the Constitution for allowing people the right to cosplay as a soldier and occasionally quite often kill a lot of people.

Good lord you are hysterical.  The Ds are going to control every branch of govt within the next 10 years for the next 50 years.

No, they aren’t. Elections are basically gone at this point. If the Republicans in power don’t like the election outcome, they will just over turn it and the courts have now said it’s fine.

But i am of the same thought.  How did we get to the point of 'right to bear arms' means anything and everything goes?  Yes, you can own a gun, here are some nice bolt-action rifles to choose from.  2A satisfied and no evil kings in sight trying to tyrannically tax you without representation.

I think stopping the sale immediately of say AR-15s and the like would prevent some mass shootings or maybe just lower the damage caused.  What would confiscation look like?  would that set off a 1000 Wacos across the country?  Start a larger movement?  How committed are wacko 2A Punisher wannabes when a SWAT team is at their door asking to buy back their military hardware?  How likely is middle mgmt Joe who saved up to buy a Barrett to shoot as his friend's ranch twice a year to give it up?

would it get to the point that the Nat. Guard is called in?  would there be too many 2A sympathizers in SWAT, Nat. Guard, LEO community etc... to make confiscation possible?

  • Popular Post

A ban on manufacture, sale/import of AR-15 class weapons would have pricing impacts.  Even if a buyback is only partially effective, the value of the remaining weapons and hardware would spike, putting them out of reach for some buyers.  Closing private sale loopholes would help, too.

I keep hoping for the health of Clarence Thomas to fail, but it’s not working.I

Just another reminder the number of mass shooting incidents has almost doubled since 2018 (children killed/injured +33% since then), and that the number of incidents involving the defensive use of guns (the purported reason for arming everyfuckingbody) is LESS THAN unintentional shootings.

Recorded incidents so far this year (Woohoo! Texas looks like it's in the lead on inflicting violence on our children!):

Looks like Texas is leading on the oopsies too.

199 mass shootings this year:

0484b316-f676-44bc-97ed-ecefeabae077.png

Considering things like this happen in waves, it’s only going to get worse IMO.

On a macro level, Look at things like serial killers in the 70-80’s.

Child abductions in the 80’s and 90’s.

Until the recent opiate crisis look at suicides. The more they get publicized, the more ‘copy cat’ folks participate.

It’s a weird feature of human beings. So without intervention this is only going to get worse and worse. We aren’t going to fix people’s broken brains. We have to go after the instrument that lets the broken brains take us out in their last hurrah. (This comes from someone with a broken brain).
