Kangaroos. Went there my freshman year. Back in the 80s when the drinking age was 18. There was an on-campus pub that served Foster’s.

In the late '50s, early '60s they had a live kangaroo mascot kept on campus.  Katie the Kangaroo. My grandmother lived down the street and we would walk down and see her.  Aunt had a maroon and gold plushie kangaroo from when she attended.

"Perfect storm" in year 1 of the SEC for Texas.Sometimes you just have to feel bad for Aggies. Their fictional stories about the SEC were debunked in year 1 all while they sucked it up. https://t.co/jnrmLh23LN

Looch is still peddling doo-doo to the sheep.

That one will be back to haunt him just like all the others.

It's just astonishing how the greatest conference ever added 2 historical blueblood programs and got easier. For Texas anyway.

And Texas will have played Georgia 3 times in 2 seasons (at least) and aggy has played them once in 15

First, that’s incorrect and embarrassing  English for the leader of anything, including an agricultural and mechanical college. Second, it’s a double negative so he is actually saying they are someone’s little brother. Fing dumb Aggie.

Well, Lady Longhorns won their regional and on to OKC.  So glad, they get another shot at #1 ranked aggy.

To be fair, he was drunk.

Surprised Earley hasn’t been fired yet. Maybe they’re working out an extension.

Wonder what his actual buyout is. Also wonder if he ends up in Austin next year 👀

He got a nice little dead cat bounce at the end. They’ll shuffle the deck chairs of assistant coaches and he gets another year. Gets swept at home by Texas in 26, he gone. They have to keep some powder dry for Elko if he loses to Texas again

If?

Barring disaster, aggy doesn't have the talent, depth, or coaching to hang with the Longhorns.

This. He essentially admits it in his denial, merely claiming that he brought it to an end.

Well, one must remember that different languages treat double negatives differently. Take Spanish for example. In Sharp's defense, we may not be familiar with the intricacies of EATME (East Anglo-Texan Moronic English, also known more succinctly as Anglo-Texan Moron or ATM).

Not to be too impolitic, but aggy is less a "little brother" and more of a "slightly retarded second cousin" at this point. Or maybe not so slightly.

They aren't "little" brother thanks to their near-open enrollment. They are the younger brother who got fat in an effort to no longer be little.

Sorry to break it to you, little buddy. You'll always be who you are.

Who was it that knows the story (and the guy that did it) of what happened to Loochs face? Probably from tos..needs rehashing every so often

There were a pair of brothers, one who played baseball at aggy, and his younger brother who played for Texas. The pair of them beat the brakes off of four football players, plus looch, outside of the Dixie chicken back in the early 2000’s when we were still in school.

I wouldn't  be surprised to see aggy get in. It's a "feel good" story for many non-sips, and the TV money pretty much rules sports.

Feel good doesn't get you into the tournament, RPI does.  aggy has an RPI of 50, which is well past the cutoff for an at-large.

I didn't say I think aggy gets in, I said it wouldn't surprise me if they do.

TV runs the sports world, and if TV thinks aggy will bring meaningful additional advertising revenue, then aggy will be part of the show.

If it happens - which, by the way, I certainly doubt - it will be pitched as "feel good". The plucky aggy fightin' 12th man coming back from the adversity of having their coach kidnapped by the evil whorns and their fingers broken... what could feel better than that?

#86141

TV doesn't run NCAA tournaments.  RPI does.  You should be absolutely floored if aggy gets into the tournament.

While I would love to keep Tulo’ around as long as he’ll stay, that would be interesting. The aggy boards would immediately jump to the “Earley was a plant to bring down the bestus baseball program in the country in historically embarrassing fashion!”

#86144

All Aggy had to do was sweep the worst team in the conference and they’d be 14-16 and in the tournament without a doubt

The only dumb asses who believe that are aggy.  Nobody else cares about them, other than to point and laugh.

The murmurs of moving on from Michael Earley as Texas A&M baseball's head coach have been growing in volume in the later part of the season. There has been a pall over the program since the early-season slump, but an eruption to take down some of the nation's top teams in the middle of the year had quelled the concern to a great degree.

However, the final two weekend series— getting swept by Missouri for the Tigers' only SEC wins of the year and then losing two out of three to Georgia— appear to have sealed Earley's fate. Insiders have spoken about the grave outlook that missing the postseason would have for Earley in College Station, and it seems like the odds of making a regional are longer than they ever have been.

Now, with a loss to LSU in the SEC Tournament, and the Aggies' season likely over, it's decision time. If the Aggies do indeed move on from Earley, though, it looks like they'll have a chance to make some noise.

Obtuse Texas fans insisting on Twitter that A&M should keep Earley has led to this nugget from D1Baseball's Kendall Rogers:

Because you have an opportunity to make a massive upgrade? Same reason Texas went from a guy who was having success to hire a guy who was having more success.

Funnily enough, though not surprisingly, the same Longhorn fan immediately tried to argue with Rogers, maybe the most plugged-in voice in the sport, about this information. Take whatever lesson from that you will.

This is an exciting proposition for the Aggies. Earley has admittedly been a disappointment thus far, wasting a preseason number one ranking and all but assuredly missing the postseason, so it wouldn't be hard to find an upgrade from that.

However, keeping in mind that the Aggies made a really convincing run at Tennessee's Tony Vitello last offseason before eventually being turned down, this signals that the decision makers for A&M aren't afraid to go big game hunting. I doubt they'd get a name as big as Vitello, but after giving an upstart coach a chance and seeing it crash and burn, I wouldn't be surprised to see them go get a known quantity.

This is all still speculation at this point— no decision has officially been made. I doubt any will until the Aggies' postseason fate is sealed— A&M isn't exactly on the bubble, but it would be an extreme misstep to fire Earley right now on the off chance that they make a regional.

Just for a little added flavor, that team is currently #146 RPI, and they swept A&M in College Station.  That should make the Aggies ineligible this year AND next year.
