Call me crazy, but isn't that list mostly loaded with spares?

Yeah, "returning" is the operative word here, which more or less equates to spares since a lot of top starting QBs left for the NFL.

Basically, On3 needed a cheap post for their socials, so they did some lazy ranking math to make a post, and Aggie McGoober ran with the results pounding his chest about a top ten victory. Reed was #23 in QBR last year as calculated by ESPN. Aggies shouldn't peak at his pass rating.

Well Biff, I won't speak for others but I know seeing that pic made me wish I had gone to aggie. The Fandom of meat judging championships surpassed all other college sports entertainment long ago.

King (in GT's offense), Clubnic and Leavitt are very to extremely good, King particularly for GT(Tripple Option). Allar will be argued but the general consensus is he's A list. Beck gets a lot of love but he's a poor man's Quinn, well, he's a rich fools Quinn.

The reason why King being on that list is so funny is A) He may just be the best for his specific team B) his team runs triple option  C) He used to play for aggie that could absolutely use someone with his skillset

Georgia Tech doesn't run the triple option, hasn't for a few years now.

Navy is still running a triple option, both classic and from the spread, which is why Navy QB is on the list.

It's been 7 years since GT stopped running triple option. That was a Paul Johnson thing and he retired in 2018

Some clips from Texas A&M football practice began to make the rounds yesterday, showing Marcel Reed and some of the Aggie receivers during warmups throwing and catching. Carter Karels of 247Sports tweeted out the following video after the media's allotted time at practice, and his tweet went somewhat viral, garnering over 160 shares and more than one thousand likes:

This is not what you would call elite-level reps by any means, but I think it should be fairly obvious to anyone watching that they were not meant to be. If you're a distance runner, and you go on a warmup jog before stretching and going on your real run, you're not going as hard as you would be later in the workout— it's obvious to anyone who has done any kind of exercise in their lives that this is the case.

Texas fans obsessing over Marcel Reed practice clips instead of worrying about road opener against defending champ Ohio State
That did not stop Texas fans, for some reason, from descending on this tweet like vultures. This is puzzling on several fronts, obviously, not least of which is the point that I just made: these were not meant to be high-effort reps. You can see the receivers just jogging!

It's just a bit odd that they're all attempting to dunk on a warmup period of practice for another team who they try so hard to make everyone think they don't care about! This doesn't exactly scream "apathy"— it comes across more like a fixation.

Doesn't Texas have this huge opener on the road in a couple of weeks, too? I know that if the Aggies had a highly-ranked matchup to open the year like that, they wouldn't be passing around practice clips of their rival like this. It's just a bit of a sad mentality when you should have bigger things to worry about.

I guess you can never miss a chance to make a mountain out of a molehill when you're a Texas fan. Any pub is good pub, as they say, so I'm unbothered from an Aggies perspective.

Something that Texas A&M football fans have been looking forward to for quite some time, along with many SEC fans, is the recently-released documentary by Netflix, "SEC: Any Given Saturday." Following the success of other sports-based documentaries by the streaming giant, as well as a nascent foray into live sports, these further ventures have been popping up, with their coverage of the 2024 SEC season being a top example.

What Aggie fans have found, though, is that the great stories of A&M's season were a bit shortchanged in Netflix's coverage of their season. That may even be too generous, as the highlighted portions of the Aggies' fall were the most painful moments of the year for A&M football fans.

This isn't to suggest some sort of media conspiracy, but given the anticipation that Aggie fans had for this documentary, it's pretty disappointing. There were several success stories from the year that deserved to be highlighted, but Netflix simply passed them over for one reason or another.

Netflix's "SEC: Any Given Saturday" displays Texas A&M lowlights, all but ignoring high points
I think the most egregious example here is the near-complete ignoring of the LSU game. That was a massive moment in the season for college football fans, as the Aggies and Tigers were vying for the top spot in the conference in the SEC's largest stadium— one which was, as commentators Chris Fowler and Kirk Herbstreit noted, absolutely rocking.

And yet, all it got was a couple of nods at the beginning of an LSU-focused episode, showing Nussmeier throwing an interception at the end of the game. It's not an over-exaggeration to say that this was one of the most exciting games of the season overall: the flip from the first half to the second half, coinciding with the QB switch for the Aggies, was a huge storyline, but it was not even mentioned.

Of course, the four-overtime game against Auburn was shown, which you pretty much had to expect. The South Carolina game was also spotlighted. Texas A&M's time in the limelight was shown in the leadup to their game against Texas, where the defense was given respect, but shown to ultimately not be enough to get them over the hump.

The documentary did show, briefly, the Aggies' victory against Florida, but it was from the Gators' perspective and not much time was spent there. This was simply a missed opportunity for Netflix, and one that will surely be a burr in the saddle of A&M fans.

Taurean York first bitching about Texas coaching staff not giving him time of day was the first highlight. Particularly, after they flew a helicopter to Temple and his coach asked him to sit in the office while his team mate was recruited seems questionable all around.

Then the old fat white lady gushing on York for having "sacked both quarterbacks" after the loss was extremely aggie.

Elko came off as an absolute dick, but you could tell he was throwing in some "I relate to these players" shtick for the cameras at a couple of points.

I only watched the Texas v Vandy and Texas v aggie ones. 5 and 6 iirc. Besides the aggie fail joy, it gives a bit of the flavor of the coaches and team. Of what I saw Beamer seems the most level headed and relatable of all of them. Also, his wife is pretty damn hot. Lebby felt like he was in way over his head but the team results certainly had a part in that. Lea came off as very good at maintaining a game face and competent coach but it felt like there was some shit brewing below. Elk came off, far and away, as the biggest choade, to no one's suprise here.

Pavia came off as an entitled POS.

They absolutely glossed over the complete drubbing aggie took in the tackle box. Really only showing the 2 turn overs and I think both Texas TDs. However, its clear Texas AD said hard pass as there was zero Texas engagement on the series. Georgia and Bama seemed the same but I didnt watch them all.

I think the show is a bit gay, in man on man action not woman on woman action and I have nothing against gay sex, in fact I love my gay brothers but if I were to watch porn (at 50 full of estrogen it holds very little interest for me) it would be hard core gay porn guy on guy action not this soft core SEC SEC SEC shit. waste of time.

I did see the Lebby lockerroom speeches. what a fucking beatdown - him, his team, and last year for them. he's a borderline imbecile I think.

Yeah I didn't watch all of them but I think the big dogs in the league said no. I know USC, MSU, Vandy, and A&M were featured, not exactly the top tier. I don't know about the rest. that pub was unnecessary for bama, uga and the horns.

From CBSSports.com article on 10 rookies to watch:

Nic Scourton

CAR • LB • #11
Drafted: Round 2 (51st overall)
Fun fact: Career statistics include 109 tackles, 31 tackles for loss, 17.0 sacks and three forced fumbles in three seasons (two at Purdue and one at Texas A&M)

....Scourton was once regarded as a likely first-round prospect, but a transfer from Purdue to Texas A&M led to a new body type and a new role -- neither of which benefitted his stock. If he is able to tap back into his time with the Boilermakers, Scourton has the potential to become an X-factor.

Aggie player development continues to be a strength of the program...
