Monday at 08:18 PM2 days What is the benefit for USC to play ND late in the season in the middle of their Big 10 schedule? The committee spoke loud and clear. Big time out of Conference games are a negative, not a positive for making the playoffs. See Texas/Ohio State.

Monday at 08:23 PM2 days What a bitchass move by usc. And no, they can't just pin it on Lincoln. The AD and if not the university president should have ensured that the game continues.
Monday at 08:28 PM2 days Not joining a conference then signing a secret deal with the playoff committee for special rules to guarantee you a spot is a bitchass move and teams should let them rot like USC is doing here. Texas should do the same

But USC does it and it's "pussy?" Nothing USC said is wrong. The CFP punishes teams for late losses. If ND won't move the game, the game is cancelled and ND can fill it with someone else who is willing to simp for the Conferenceless Catholics. USC gave them a reasonable offer - move it to the early season and it will continue.

Monday at 10:19 PM2 days ND losing two OOC games in the first two weeks and almost making the playoffs anyways, proves LR’s point emphatically
Monday at 10:28 PM2 days I want out of all of our big OOC games. Fuck FOX, fuck ESPN. The CFP committee has definitively shown with their actions that these games will be punitive to the loser.

Monday at 10:33 PM2 days Yeah but you're in the Big 12. You have to have a game like that or not lose by 20+ to Tech to get in the playoff. You need a big OOC game whereas USC doesn't. They have Indiana, Oregon, Ohio State, and Washington next year.
Monday at 11:41 PM2 days USC went 9-3 this year and didn't make the playoff. If they'd beat ND (or Oregon) they would have been in at 10-2. If they had replace ND on the schedule with SJSU they would have been right there with ND left out at 10-2. If you disagree, tell me who they'd jump.

BYU realized the Big 12 might always be a one bid conference and adding a team like ND to the OOC schedule greatly increases their chances at being a second Big 12 invite (taking out your competition ala Miami this season - you don’t get the same ROI scheduling a big 10 or sec opponent). USC has to go to Indiana next season and plays Ohio State, Oregon, Washington. Why help Notre Dame's SOS since they now just have to be 12 to get in the playoff with a shitty schedule. Notre Dame's MoU was already signed by the time knowledge of it was made public. That means the Big Ten already knew about it, which means USC also already knew about it. USC's been looking to get out of this game for a while now (scroll back to earlier pages). Don't give them a pass for this. The ND MoU is just an excuse, the actual reason is that Lincoln Riley needs to save his job and wants to make USC's schedule as easy as possible.

Tuesday at 02:54 AM2 days 9 minutes ago, mdmost said: Not according to this. For ND to come to this agreement with the CFP, every other P4 conference would have had to agree/sign off on it as well. That means at a minimum, the Big Ten commissioner knew about this. So for the tweet to be true, Tony Petiti would have had to deliberately decide to not tell the ADs of the schools in his own conference about the MoU he agreed to. Which makes no sense.
