Also, the LSU AD needs someone to go over his head.  He's the dumbass who's given out just short of a 100 million in buyouts.

To be fair, his successor negotiated Jimbo’s extension, but the original contract was fully guaranteed also.

If you've been following along with the LSU saga, this should surprise no one. As noted in our story today on the LSU search, lots of people will be involved in the hiring process for a football coach - https://t.co/yxvIogjuBS https://t.co/umwp5Psckr

I don't see this job being that appetizing to Lane.

If LSU doesn’t trust their AD to hire the highest paid employee in the athletic department… He prolly shouldn’t be the AD

All those things can be had at Florida without as many hassles.

Florida is a more disfunctional AD and booster group, isn't anywhere close to as good of a job as LSU, and has more competition in state.

If the money is anywhere close to equal, Florida vs LSU isn't even a discussion.

Holy shit....I didn't expect a lot from Louisiana, but this fucking choad is their governor? I'm gonna fucking laugh when Trump actually does get to pick the next coach

Here’s a portion of the news conference from Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry, who is clearly frustrated at LSU AD Scott Woodward and the cost of Brian Kelly’s contract

Is this for real?   Louisiana is like 50th in economy, 50th in crime, and like 46 in education.  And this is his biggest priority?

Governor Jeff Landry says in no uncertain terms that Scott Woodward will NOT select the next LSU Football coach.

Kelly's buyout = annual GDP of the entire State of Louisiana.

As laughable as this is, lsu doesn’t have a president and by law the governor fills that role.

Florida has an advantage when it comes to NIL. They will pay to bring in top 5 classes every year. If they address QB in the offseason they can compete with anyone next year.

Yeah, but at Florida will you fired by the Governor?  You can't buy that kind of street cred.

I wonder if Harlem Berry looks at our RB room and says to himself he can start right away just a state over in Burnt Orange and White. He would be a massive upgrade over what we've been trotting out. If Chad Scott isn't working the phones with this kid, he's a moron. We have a chance to make up for Sark and Choice fucking off about a transfer like Justice Haynes and Ahmad Hardy. We have a do-over, so if I were them I would try my hardest not to fuck that up.

Yes, we have Derek Cooper coming in (I hope), but we need better talent to help support them both. And let's hope we get a new o-line coach who knows how to recruit above 3* and actively recruits other than just a "big human", but a big human who is actually good.

They should hire Jeff Traylor.  He's older now but probably has one more run left.  They can get him on the cheap.  Nobody will accuse him of being a jerk.  He's consistently won at a commuter school with P4 rejects.  Once he gets to keep his best players he'll do even better.

From someone who has criticized the Traylor-to-Texas contingent on this site, I actually don't think that would be a bad hire.  But I think a large portion of LSU's fan base and supporters will say, "Jeff Who?" and want a bigger splash hire.

Probably going to be the only type of hire they will be able to make.

I figured he was still holding out for an in-state job. Baylor could open up

I want Lane to get a massive extension and raise. Set the bar.

I want them to make it impossible for OU to hire him.

You think Bob Stoops was a ruthless asshole? Kiffin at OU would be a complete fucking nightmare for Texas.

They both have losing records this season, so I can see Baylor fans being "meh" about either.  But overall Traylor has a pretty good track record at UTSA, and I think he'd do well at Baylor.

OU might be an upgrade over Ole Miss, but that’s debatable and not much of one, best case.

OU tends to be pretty savvy when hiring coaches, however, so I’d expect they look for someone like Kalen Deboer coming off two seasons at Fresno State, I.e., just enough experience but looking for fresh talent.  Plus, that’s cheaper.

I don't think many in the coaching ranks will perceive OU to be any better than Ole Miss these days, bc neither has top-tier, in-state talent. That advantage belongs to both LSU and Florida. Doesn't Ole Miss have enough BMDs to match any offer for Kiffin? I mean, they've been killing it in the portal, so their NIL program must be formidable.

If Freshwater leaves, it won't necessarily be about the money. Or maybe I've overestimated the Ole Miss bankroll.

Same, Ole Miss at this point is the same as OU without the championships or expectations but better NIL.

NIL is going to cause Oklahoma a LOT of problems from here on out.

LSU and Florida have natural talent pools, Florida has good NIL.

OU has neither.

Traylor is Tom Herman-lite. So yes, please hire him LSU.
