December 6, 20214 yr Too young for the character in the books. Always envisioned someone like aleksandr karelin when I read them. Older. Grittier. Tougher. Big, physical, & dangerous, but not in the traditional bodybuilder way.
December 6, 20214 yr So are the books just filled with Reacher's workout routines? On one hand he's not a gym rat but on the other readers are picturing him as one of the most powerfully strong men that dominated an entire sport. Who wins in a fight Reacher or a Hurricane?

December 6, 20214 yr I like to think of Reacher like with giant eagle's wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!
December 6, 20214 yr Author Mental image was always someone that looked closer to Chad Henning of the 90's Cowboys.

Let's face it, Reacher's physical description has almost become legendary amongst the Reacher fanbase, as evidenced by a major chunk of this thread, and numerous criticisms of the Tom Cruise movies, but in the books, to go and give a 6-foot-4 inch guy a tiny 6-inch dick always seemed like.... a dick move

December 7, 20214 yr As someone who enjoys the admittedly largely mediocre and repetitive books, that looks fucking terrible.
December 9, 20214 yr This thread is weird. Huge guy kicks people's asses in amusing and entertaining ways. What's not to like? It's not like the books were MacBeth. They're all the same fucking story.

You just can’t separate the character from the physicality he possesses in the reacher movie, it’s central to the whole storyline cruise isn’t reacher he’s just some guy playing a part named Reacher

UT football is a case in point. except that the first movie is actually a good movie. like it or not, the movie business is a business and success is measured in money. money means sequels and expansion and continuation of the property. if the prime series isn't good (critically) and doesn't meet other metrics amzn uses, then it won't get picked up, and they'll stop making it. i still find it humorous that people get so bent out of shape about it being tom cruise instead of some huge dude. i'm not sure the reaction would be any different if they cast a one-legged teenage asian girl in the role.

December 9, 20214 yr Author Haven’t seen anything this new guy has been in mentioned above. I was just excited as it looked like someone that fit the character. Sucks if he can’t act. I liked the first movie quite a bit but the character needed to be named Henry Poon or something other than Reacher.
December 10, 20214 yr and this dude absolutely cannot be a lead in a show. I predict everyone should enjoy their one season, because that’s all you’ll get.

February 4, 20223 yr I'm 3 episodes in and pretty good so far. It's been a while since I read the book the series is based on, but it seems to track pretty close to the book so far. The Reacher actor is ok, not bad.
February 4, 20223 yr Author Yeah, I think the fight scenes are well done and feel much more like they are described in the book. Not sure the actor has the bearing of someone who was a military lifer but he isn't bad. Good to see Guillermo from WWDITS getting some work as the coroner.

I really like the female lead too, which helps watching. The first crime scene was pretty intense. And so far the fidelity to the books is pretty damn good.
