December 4, 20241 yr Obviously, I would love to see Sharma in the class, and still think he will be, but even if not this class is already baller status No disrespect to DK, he'll be really good, but IMO, Ffrench will end up being the best WR in the class ...plus Lockett, Terry, plus, plus, plus ... This class is stacked top to bottomÂ

I am worried about DT recruiting but I was worried last year as well. Sooner or later you’d think they’d want to restock the cupboard tho. They're going to win the Stewart NOLA auction. They're not swinging for one DT and they're offering significant paydays. Riley and Elko are in the same spot of trying to convince the money that they are *that* close and just to shore up a few key spots to land on top, particularly DT. Â

Texas has been doing what it can, but USC's extremely desperate. This goes back to being too selective early on if you weren't going to have the cajones to do what it takes to retain the guys you do land. They want to develop as many guys from the ground up as they can. At every position. That obviously doesn't mean they'd ever ignore the portal as one of winners there in each cycle. I think people are confusing the costs of recruiting these days, really. I know imma knows that, but just building off of the point around development. Some guys cost most than others. Some guys still sign with almost no NIL understanding or expectation. Other guys know their specific market via the help of agents or savvy parents and it goes as high as $1.25M/year for non-QBs, apparently, given that that's part of why Moore went to Oregon. Even the stars fail to normally go nearly that high. But that's not "the market" generally speaking for a position. Chase Sims could have been had for virtually nothing. Guidry, same. WIth UT's S&C and coaching development in this regime, either guy winds up contributing and potentially becoming draft picks. Neither of them approached something like $250k. His trajectory has been downward, even before Daboer. It's odd. Injuries and culture issues this year didn't help. Dude quit on the team midseason. I wouldn't touch him. The $9.95ers are idiots for rating him so highly. That's a brand thing only. Nansen basically decided he wasn't really interested in Petitjohn until it was far too late. Not sure what the guy was thinking, as he's been very good otherwise. Just a bizarre play. On Lacey, I think there was some element of loyalty to both the recruit and the evaluation on Sarkisian's end. Given the guy's track record at QB, I guess I've got to just shrug and call myself the idiot for doubting him when it pans out. I like Lacey, but the chances he plays meaningful snaps at Texas are pretty slim simply based on being in the '25 class.  He's got Manning and Owens in front of him and Dia Bell coming in next year. That's a tough row to hoe.
December 4, 20241 yr It’s been mentioned before but Lacey has the same private QB coach as Arch. I wonder if Texas didn’t want to burn any bridges there.

When I think about the relationship with the Manning family, the kid himself, it's really the private QB coach relationship I was worried aboutÂ
December 4, 20241 yr I need me some DTs. I cant get enough of that 4 & 1 goal line stand high vs the aggies.

No recruit is an island, entire of itself. Every recruit is piece of the roster, a part of the main. Lacey could damned sure be called upon for various reasons including a rash of QB injuries.Â

Does this pull us off of some or all? Could be a big move in either direction. Or, it's just another signing week and Hicks comes to Texas while the others go where they're expected. IT'S FLUID!!!

December 4, 20241 yr Vegetables announces they're retaining the remaining offensive staff in Fasusi's 11th hour, which is is either the kicker or desperation. Hoping for the latter. Edited December 4, 20241 yr by Ricky's one-hitter
