July 26, 20241 yr Popular Post 247 Recruiting quick hits from an eventful Texas Bash Pool Party Quote The Texas Longhorns held the annual Texas Bash Pool Party today as their last recruiting event of the summer before gearing up for the highly anticipated first season in the SEC in 2024. Horns247 was on-site throughout the day interviewing prospects and catching up with sources, and brings you several quick hitters on the recruits who made their way to the Forty Acres for today's event. *This story does not include intel on every single visitor as we will have more in the coming days* 2025 Nick Townsend, TE, Spring Dekaney Townsend loved his first time on campus as an actual Texas commit and only feels better about his decision to choose the Longhorns after today's experience. Although he was late to the event and missed all but the end of the players' workout, Townsend loved his time around the program when at the pool and is looking forward to being back in the fall. Townsend also mentioned being in Galveston Ball five-star safety Jonah Williams' ear about getting Williams to join him in Austin at the next level. (SCRUGGS) Smith Orogbo, EDGE, Alief Hastings — Texas commit Texas commit Smith Orogbo was back on campus today for the first time as a UT pledge. He says his focus in recruiting now is to build the relationships more in Austin. He spent the most time with Pete Kwiatkowski among coaches on Thursday. He's very firm with the Longhorns and currently has no plans to take any visits elsewhere this fall. Orogbo says Oklahoma finished second for him. He says Texas Tech and Washington remain in touch. (SOUTH) Michael Terry III, ATH, San Antonio Alamo Heights Terry arrived early and left around 6:30 PM. The five-star was accompanied on the visit by his mother, father, sister, grandmother, and a family friend and the trip started with a 45 minute conversation with Steve Sarkisian in his office, which is the longest conversation Horns247 heard Sark had with a prospect today, showing the priority Terry is to the Texas staff. A source close to Terry believes the five-star's favorite part of today's visit was getting to sit in with Sark at the beginning where he heard the head coach's pitch for him that featured comparing similar playing styles to a combination of Roschon Johnson, Bijan Robinson, Jordan Whittington, and Ja'Tavion Sanders. Chris Gilbert, Tashard Choice, and AJ Milwee were amongst the other staffers that also spent a lot of time around Terry today, with a source mentioning Terry's father spent a big chunk of the visit conversating with Gilbert. Terry will see Oregon tomorrow before checking out Nebraska at the end of the month, but Horns247 continues to like the Longhorns' chances of winning this one. (SCRUGGS) 2026 Javian Osborne, RB, Forney Arguably Texas' top RB target in 2026, Osborne says he "loves" UT's offense. He says backs thrive in the system. Osborne is very close with Tashard Choice, who doesn't pressure him about recruiting. The Forney product loves the running back tradition at Texas, noting guys like Ricky Williams and Bijan Robinson. Osborne says Texas is at the top of the list in his recruitment, stopping short of naming them his leader. Oklahoma and Michigan, where he'll be this weekend, are two others of note at the moment. A decision will be made sometime next year. (SOUTH) Chris Stewart, WR, Shadow Creek — Texas commit Stewart felt the love being back on campus for the first time since committing to the Longhorns in late June. Texas continues to feel like home for the dynamic Houston area deep threat and he feels even better about his commitment after returning for his second visit of the summer. Although Dia Bell wasn't able to make it in today due to a flight cancellation, Stewart and Bell have been developing a tight knit relationship and have been in communication almost every day since both players committed. (SCRUGGS) Jordan Clay, WR, San Antonio Madison Clay enjoyed his second visit to campus of the summer and the fourth, if not fifth time on campus in total. Although he holds several national offers, Clay said the Texas offer was the one he wanted the most and the one he worked the hardest to get as he had his sights set on landing the offer since visiting Texas heading into his sophomore year. Clay spent time around several players, highlighting his time with fellow San Antonio native Freddie Dubose as well as a conversation with Arch Manning. Clay said Texas is "number one for sure" and that he already knows they've made his eventual top five and top three when they come out. (SCRUGGS) Mike Brown, WR, Houston Legacy the School of Sports Sciences Texas is securely in the top five for the Texas A&M legacy. Brown is very close with Chris Jackson and appreciates the efforts the UT assistant is putting into his recruitment. Brown says both Isaiah Bond and Johntay Cook stood out in workouts. Texas, Texas A&M and Louisville are three schools reaching out the most at the moment. Brown says his ties to A&M don't play into his recruitment, nor does his dad push him one way or the other. (SOUTH) John Turntine III, OT, North Crowley There hasn't been a program the five-star tackle has visited more than Texas this year. Turntine has developed a close bond with Kyle Flood and Steve Sarkisian and is feeling like a priority — as he should be — for the UT staff. The North Crowley product has several family members in Austin, which could end up playing a role at the end of the day. Turntine will be at Texas A&M this weekend. He says both the Longhorns and the Aggies are heavily in the mix entering his junior season. We believe UT is trending in this one, especially if you're following the visits. (SOUTH) Max Wright, OT, Melissa Get familiar with 2026 offensive tackle Max Wright. The Melissa product (transferred last fall from Plano West) checked in at 6-foot-7, 290 pounds in Austin this afternoon. He attended Junior Day earlier this year as well. Kyle Flood offered Wright today. The Longhorns join others like Tulsa and UTEP in the mix. The Longhorns lead in this one and it sounds like that lead is pretty big at this point. (SOUTH) Avery Morcho, OT, Fort Bend Ridge Point Texas will evaluate the 2026 offensive lineman from Ridge Point into the fall. Both Kyle Flood and Deron Gatewood spent time with the rising junior. Morcho says Texas is among his favorites and an offer would mean a lot in his recruitment. He'll be at Texas A&M on Friday. For now Houston, Florida State and the Aggies are on top of Morcho's recruitment. He plans to return to Austin in the fall for a game. Texas can be involved as it wants to be in this one at this stage in the process. (SOUTH) Nic Robertson, IOL, Klein There's still a long way to go in this one with Robertson being a 2026, but he mentioned Texas has started "taking it" when asked where the Longhorns stack up to the other schools in his recruitment. His third time on campus this year, Robertson spent time around Kyle Flood and Steve Sarkisian and will see Texas A&M and Baylor before the end of the month. (SCRUGGS) Tiki Hola, DL, Bastrop A frequent visitor to the Forty Acres since before he started high school, Hola returned for his fourth visit of the year after stopping by in January once and April twice. Hola enjoyed watching practice before getting to chop it up with Kenny Baker and Johnny Nansen, as well as a conversation with Steve Sarkisian. It's still early in the process for Hola, but there's a lot to like about Texas' chances in the long run. Notre Dame, Oregon, and USC were mentioned by Hola as the early contenders alongside the Longhorns. (SCRUGGS) Luke Wafle, EDGE, Princeton (N.J.) Hun School It was Wafle's second time on campus after stopping by in the spring and today was an even better experience. The state of New Jersey's No. 3 overall prospect in the 2026 class, Wafle loves that the defensive coordinator at Texas would also be his position coach, along with the fact that his area recruiter Kyle Flood is the coordinator on the other side of the ball. Wafle will also see Tennessee and Michigan before the month of July wraps up and hopes to be back in Austin for a game this fall. (SCRUGGS) Jamarion Carlton, EDGE, Temple Texas, K-State, Texas Tech and USC have been reaching out the most to the four-star DL since contact limitations lifted for 2026 recruits. Carlton checked in at 6-foot-4, 235. He spent most of his visit with Pete Kwiatkowski and had a one-on-one meeting with Steve Sarkisian, which is an indication of how high the Longhorns are on the rising junior at this point in time. He keyed in on Colin Simmons in player-led workouts, saying the rising freshman stood out on the field. Carlton will be at Texas A&M, Texas Tech on Saturday and Baylor on Tuesday. Carlton is still early in the process and isn't naming favorites yet. (SOUTH) Bralan Womack, S, Flowood (Miss.) Hartfield Academy The five-star drove all the way from Mississippi for today's event, and tomorrow he'll see Texas A&M before checking out LSU on Saturday. Womack loved his time back on the Forty Acres and said it was everything and more that those around him said it would be, and really loves how there's no drama going on within the program and that everything is based on and about football. Having landed his offer from the Longhorns today, Texas is only continuing to gain ground in the recruitment as Blake Gideon has been in consistent contact with Womack for several months before today's offer. Planning to drop a top 10 on August 26th, the Longhorns will make the cut and are expected to be a contender going forward. Before leaving campus today, Womack and his family scheduled an unofficial visit to return to Austin the weekend of the Georgia game. Womack's birthday is the day of the Georgia game, so it should be a really fun experience for the Mississippi native when he takes in one of this year's most anticipated matchups. Womack was the last visitor to leave campus today and arrived several hours early as well. (SCRUGGS) Jamarion Vincent, S, Waco Connally Texas offered the Waco Connally product last month at camp. He spent time on campus with former teammates Jelani McDonald and Kobe Black, who both are helping recruit him to Texas. Vincent says Texas "is in the top" for him right now and there aren't really any other programs with them at this point. He'll be at hometown Baylor on Saturday. (SOUTH) 2027 Khyren Haywood, DL, Denton Guyer It was Haywood's first time visiting Austin holding an offer from the Longhorns after earning it at the big man camp earlier this summer in June. Although he hasn't been able to visit many schools up to this point, Texas is standing out early on due to being the schools that's shown the most love so far. Haywood mostly spent time with Kenny Baker and had a brief conversation with Steve Sarkisian as well, and Texas is the only school Haywood will visit this month. (SCRUGGS) K'Adrian Redmond, DL, Lake Dallas The 2027 DL from Lake Dallas enjoyed his time on campus today. He spent time with Kenny Baker, who he says is very transparent about the whole recruiting process. Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, UTSA, and UTEP are the schools that have offered so far. (SOUTH)

July 26, 20241 yr Sharma is legit. Huge win for Kenny Baker. He needs to develop Mitchell, Bryant, Bledsoe, and January. If we can land a couple more dominant inside guys, we’ll have a lot of talent on the inside next year. Not very experienced, but talented.
