He wasn’t even touched in that return, probably because he’s soft and afraid of contact.

Reminded me a bit of VY w/ the running - didn't look fast at all, yet no one got anywhere close to him.  Just smooth as fuck, gliding on down the field.  Look at the difference between his leg churn and the guys closest to him once he crosses about the 35.

The good ones make it look easy. The great ones make it look like everyone else should change sports.

I would have loved to have had a gps speed tracker on Vince to see his top speeds on various runs.

I love it when defenders would take an angle on Vince only to find that they had miscalculated by a lot.

Two visit updates; Georgia visitor list expands

The Texas staff made a number of stops Friday in the states of Texas, Georgia and California.

OnTexasFootball begins the week with a pair of updates on defensive lineman on the board for the Longhorns.

Kevin Wynn and Malcolm Simpson

Kenny Baker made a stop at Green County High in Greensoboro, Ga. Friday to see FSU 4-star+ DL commit Kevin Wynn. Wynn told OnTexasFootball Sunday night that he has not yet locked in a visit date to Texas. Texas wants Wynn to make the visit with both parents, and that did not happen in June. That was key for FSU in the close of the recruitment. Wynn has been on campus at South Carolina and Georgia this season for sure, and is a possibility to go see Colorado too.

Steve Sarkisian and Blake Gideon stopped by Hitchcock High in Galveston County Friday to see Nebraska 4-star DL commit Malcolm Simpson and Texas A&M 4-star+ wide receiver commit Kelshaun Johnson. OTF spoke with Simpson Sunday night, and he is planning to attend the Texas-Georgia game October 19, as is Johnson. OTF believes Simpson wants to end up at Texas, if everything works out academically. Simpson is expected to visit Nebraska again this season, but doesn't have a date locked in.

Note on Dia Bell

The Texas 5-star QB commit in 2026 was offered by Alabama last night. Bell has been extremely impressive this season for American Heritage High in South Florida. Bell is scheduled to be in Austin October 19 for the Texas vs. Georgia game.

Texas vs. Georgia visitor list expanding

Javion Hilson, EDGE, Cocoa (Fla.) High

Joseph Mbatchou, DL, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson
Note: This will be an official visit for the Peach State and OnTexasFootball 4-star+ prospect. This is a real recruitment with Georgia and Alabama making the same push as Texas.

Walter Mathis Jr., DL, Savannah (Ga.) Calvary Day - LSU commit

Malcolm Simpson, DL, Hitchcock (Texas) High - Nebraska commit

Myron Charles, DL, Port Charlotte (Fla.) High #AllGasNoBrakes

Josiah Sharma, DL, Folsom (Calif.) High #AllGasNoBrakes

The Stampede: Top Texas football targets expected at Red River Rivalry

Quote

Red River Rivalry (or Shootout) week has arrived! No. 1 Texas football (5-0, 1-0 SEC) will take on No. 18 Oklahoma (4-1, 0-1) from the Cotton Bowl on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. It's the first time the Longhorns enter the rivalry as the No. 1-ranked team since 1983.

And even though it's a neutral site game, recruits will be in attendance. The Longhorns and Sooners trade off years as the host team, meaning the team that can hand out tickets to prospective student athletes. This year it's OU's turn.

Still, coaches can't have face to face contact with the recruits, so mainly it's an invite to a great game where both teams can be on fully display.

And with Texas and OU competing for many of the same recruits, OU's invites are of high interest if you're following Texas recruiting.

Here, Horns247's Jordan Scruggs and Hank South break down 10 of the biggest Texas-OU visitors currently expected in Dallas on Saturday.

Lewisville five-star OT Michael Fasusi

Without a doubt the highest profile name on this list, Fasusi spurned Horns fans in August by choosing the Sooners over the burnt orange even after the Longhorns led for the large majority of the early part of the recruitment. A rare miss by Kyle Flood, Texas will still have an opportunity ahead to potentially get things trending back to Austin before Dec. 4 with the five-star offensive tackle scheduled to be at the Cotton Bowl on Saturday. With a part of Fasusi's decision to head north of the Red River factoring in the quick path to the field in Norman rather than in Austin, I'm not sure how much the on-field results of Saturday could ultimately end up mattering for Fasusi going forward, but nonetheless it's an opportunity for Texas to win a game vs. a massive rivalry opponent that happened to be the school he chose over Texas back in August, all while he has a front seat to the action. Although the buzz since Fasusi chose the Sooners has done nothing but make us continue to think he'll end up in Norman come signing day, could a potential win on Saturday get the ball rolling towards a flip? -SCRUGGS

Aledo 2026 four-star wide receiver Kaydon Finley
The son of former Texas great Jermichael Finley, Kaydon is one of the Longhorns' top targets in the class of 2026. Finely already has 36 catches for 589 yards and 9 touchdowns this season. UT wide receivers coach Chris Jackson is in frequent communication with the UT legacy. With his ties and familiarity to the Texas program, the Crystal Ball is already trending Burnt Orange. However, Finley is taking his time with the process. Other programs like Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and Arizona State are all in play. As Horns247 reported last month, Finely is expected in Austin the following weekend for the Georgia-Texas game as well. - SOUTH

Mansfield Top247 2026 WR Zion Robinson

Oklahoma, Stanford, TCU, Texas, and Texas A&M are probably the schools in best position for Robinson as things currently stand, but he's taken a patient approach to the recruiting process and has quite literally spoken on record about not wanting to focus on recruiting until he reaches the offseason. That being said, this is what you should know about Robinson. Checking in at 6-foot-4, 180 pounds and ranked as the nation's No. 61 overall prospect according to 247Sports, Robinson is a true specimen and is essentially a lock to eventually make Andrew Ivins' annual Freaks List. The 2024 6A State high jump champion with a jump of 6-8, Robinson's impressive track profile also features a 10.89 100M and a 22.83 200M. Robinson is also the anchor leg of Mansfield's 4x200M relay team and 4x100M relay team, the latter of which took home seventh place at the 6A State Championship meet this past spring. The track data is evidence of Robinson's bloodlines, as his father Khadevis Robinson ran in the Olympics twice amongst an incredibly successful track and field career. Now the Director of Track and Field for TCU which also happens to be Robinson's alma mater, the Horned Frogs could potentially have a chance with the legacy factor with his son. Robinson received his offer from the Longhorns following the Texas Elite Camp on June 1, and besides that trip to Austin I'm not sure if he's been on the Forty Acres outside of track meets. Regardless, the 6-foot-4, 180 pound specimen is already one of top receiver targets on the board for both Red River rivals as he'll get his first in-person look at a Longhorns game this weekend. -SCRUGGS

DeSoto 2027 five-star wide receiver Ethan “Boobie” Feaster
One of the most talented high school prospects regardless of class, the Longhorns moved in on Feaster early in the process, offering the DeSoto talent over a year ago. Texas has plenty of wins out of the powerhouse that is DeSoto and would like to make Feaster another.

"They're definitely a top school," Feaster said of the Longhorns in the spring. "They always make sure I keep in contact. Every time I come up here and see the facilities, I see they got a good thing going."

Texas, LSU, Texas A&M, Oregon and many others are all involved for the talented five-star, ranked the No. 4 overall prospect in class, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. -SOUTH

Euless Trinity 2026 IOL Pupunagatoa Katoa

2026 OL Pupunagatoa Katoa at Under Armour camp in the spring. (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)

Although he's currently unranked by 247Sports, Katoa presents one of Kyle Flood's top targets in the in-state 2026 o-line class as a mountainous "big human" at 6-foot-4, 358 pounds. Also a top target for Bill Bedenbaugh and Oklahoma, this one could very well end up coming down to the Red River rivals. With Texas A&M and SMU being two other regional programs who have shown lots of early interest, those two schools paired with Texas and Oklahoma might well be your top four if Katoa was to release one right now. Up to this point those four programs, along with TCU, are the only schools I know of that Katoa's seen in person. Katoa has been to the Forty Acres twice after seeing campus in April for one of the Longhorn City Limits recruiting events before returning later on in the summer for the June 1 Elite Camp. That said, this'll be Katoa's first time seeing a Longhorns game in person. With sources liking the chances of Katoa staying in the region come decision time, this game could provide one of the more important points in the recruitment as the Red River Rivals present the two biggest College Football brands in the region. -SCRUGGS

North Crowley 2026 five-star offensive tackle John Turntine III
A frequent mention on Horns247, Turntine is one of the most important targets in the class of 2026. Arguably UT's top offensive line target in the entire cycle. He's visited Texas more than any other program and has family in studying in Austin, which helps the Longhorns' case even more. Offensive coordinator and O-line coach Kyle Flood and Turntine have hit if off throughout the process. Texas has two Crystal Ball predictions in its favor, via your Horns247 staff. Oklahoma, TCU, and others will work to try and alter the trajectory of this recruitment, but Texas is in good standing as we sit here in October of Turntine's junior year. -SOUTH

Spring Valley (Calif.) Mount Miguel 2026 Top247 ATH Brandon Arrington

Elite ATH Brandon Arrington. (Photo: Blair Angulo, 247Sports)

Another prospect who's essentially a lock to eventually make 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins' annual Freaks List, Arrington is a unique athlete with a 6-foot-2, 180 pound frame that comes with PRs of 10.27 in the 100M, 20.40 in the 200M, and one rep in the long jump as a freshman of 21 feet. A two-way athlete for Spring Valley (Calif.) Mount Miguel, Arrington might project best to defensive back, but with 10.27 speed it's hard to picture him without the ball in his hands. Oklahoma seems to be recruiting him to play defensive back and specifically cornerback, but I believe the large majority of programs recruiting him are pursuing him as a true athlete as things currently stand at this point in his recruitment. He holds an offer but has never visited Texas, but on the flip side, besides being scheduled to be in Dallas this weekend, he's tripped to Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Texas Tech in the past which shows he's willing to travel and give programs outside of his region a true look. Arrington is also scheduled to return to College Station for the Texas-Texas A&M game in November, so it's looking like he'll see two Texas games before he's ever visited campus. Even if it's the Oklahoma recruits section, having Arrington present for one of the Longhorns' games should only help their chances. -SCRUGGS

Duncanville 2026 four-star edge rusher KJ Ford Jr.
Ford visited Austin for Texas' SEC Opener against Mississippi State at the end of September. Texas might have its best pitch for the talented edge rusher in Colin Simmons — Ford's ex-teammate — having a Freshman All-American-type season in the early going, as well as Duncanville alum Alex January getting involved early this year.

"Great seeing one of teammates go out there and play early just like Alex January, and very good as a freshman helps me know they are developing," Ford said last weekend.

On top of the game this weekend, Ford plans to be back on the Forty Acres for the Georgia game on Oct. 19. Oklahoma, LSU, Florida, and others are all involved. Ford has no leaders to date. -SOUTH

Dallas South Oak Cliff 2027 Top247 OT Brian Swanson

Cortavious Tisaby (left) and Brian Swanson (Right). (Photo: Jordan Scruggs, 247Sports)

Quite possibly the Lone Star State's top offensive tackle prospect in 2027, Swanson received his Texas offer after camping on June 1 at the annual Elite Camp and added to his list of 16 total scholarships including just about every major power in the region. With Swanson sharing the same offensive line coach that works or has worked with DJ Campbell, Andre Cojoe, Trevor Goosby, and Nate Kibble amongst countless other power four offensive linemen, Swanson has several potential relationships at Texas that could help the Longhorns' chances. Scheduled to return to Austin for the first time since the June 1 Elite Camp when the Longhorns host Georgia, it'll be Swanson's second Oklahoma game of the season after seeing the Sooners lose to Tennessee in Norman. Only a sophomore, there's still a long way to go in this one, but with Swanson having the makings of the state's eventual top tackle prospect, expect him to be one of, if not the top targets of Kyle Flood and Bill Bedenbaugh going forward. -SCRUGGS

Carthage 2026 four-star linebacker DaQuives Beck
Linebacker is an area Texas will work to hit on again in the class of 2026, regardless of how things turn out in 2025 with two 'backers currently committed in Elijah Bo Barnes and Jonathan Cunningham. Texas identified Beck as a top target early and has been pressing for the Carthage standout since he worked out for the staff in early June. This recruitment has all the makings of an in-state battle between Texas-Texas A&M and even Texas Tech getting involved. Obviously Oklahoma is a factor as well. It's too early to make a prediction, but Beck is one of the more coveted linebacker targets in the country. -SOUTH

It's just "OU." The fact I acknowledge it as a football game implies the "Texas" part.

He was an A&M commit and then flipped to Auburn. 5 star WR knowingly went into a complete rebuild with a dumpster fire at QB. I wonder what would cause him to make a deci$ion like that.

I’m grateful for the early signing day. Freeze is going to be recruiting full time the second he walks out of Bryant-Denny Stadium. Hell, he might already be doing that.
