Which schools are after Texas commitments

The Texas Longhorns are expected to sign a fourth straight top 5 class December 4. While the Longhorns are working to win a handful of recruitments to add to the class, there are programs working to flip Longhorn commitments as well.

OnTexasFootball provides the schools making one last push with members of the Texas class.

We are grading the threat level this morning on a 1-10 scale with 10 being the highest.

Jaime Ffrench, WR, Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin
Ffrench will make an official visit to Florida this weekend with his teammate, good friend and Florida State QB verbal Tramell Jones Jr. Miami also continues to make a run at the 4-star++ playmaker.

Florida threat level: 1
Miami threat level: 3

Myron Charles, DL, Prot Charlotte (Fla.) High
Charles is scheduled to make a visit to Florida this weekend. He cancelled on a trip to Miami earlier in the season.

Florida threat level: 2
Miami threat level: 3

Zelus Hicks, S, Carrollton (Ga.) High
Teams are making a big push with the 4-star++ safety after announcing his reclassification from 2026 to 2025. Hicks and family have been on campus at Tennessee and Georgia Tech the last two Saturday's. Florida is hoping to get a visit as well.

Tennessee threat level: 2
Georgia Tech threat level: 2

Nick Brooks, OT, Loganville (Ga.) Grayson

Brooks attended an Auburn game recently with a few teammates. The tigers have tried to get an official visit following, but haven't to this point. If an OV is scheduled, then Auburn becomes a threat.

Auburn threat level: 2

Lance Jackson, EDGE, Texarkana (Texas) Pleasant-Grove
Arkansas continues to recruit the uber talented prospect, and brother of Arkansas future first/second rounder Landon Jackson. Landon Jackson will be off to the NFL after the season.

Arkansas threat level: 1

Josiah Sharma, DL, Folsom (Calif.) High
Oregon has remained in contact with Sharma and circle during the season.

Oregon threat level: 3

A few notes on Jaime Ffrench, from the Miami 247 and Gator 247 sites.

Sounds like On3 needs some Texas eyeballs on NSD given how calm the class has been and building up some drama with an OOS 5 star is a sensible way to do it.

You can’t go recruit top out of state players and not expect there to be competition. Ffrench has and will continue to be recruited in state until he signs. I think they hold on to him. The instate schools all have major red flags.

This is what happens when you have a historically bad offense.

This is what happens when you have a very deep-pocketed alumnus who can easily monetize NIL access.

The state of Louisiana may have to close a couple of school districts to match.

The screeching from LSU fans, who will somehow blame Texas's entry into the SEC for their drastically reduced ability to recruit and retain talent should be fine, regardless of whether or not it's our fault their state and alumni class are all poor losers.

TEXAS DID THIS!

I think you mean open a few more. Gotta spread the laundry around a bit.

Would the students even know a difference?

The Ffrench situation might have just gotten a little more complicated.  His teammate and friend, Trammell Jones, who was committed to FSU as a quarterback, just recommitted and Florida is favored to get is commitment.

If he chooses dead man walking Napier and Florida, I'm gonna say we dodged a bullet because he's probably a moron.

Gerry hasn't budged in saying he believes Miami is the only threat for Ffrench. Reiterated his opinion this morning on Coffee&Football. He doesn't seem concerned at all about Ffrench going to Florida.

As of now, this actually seems kinda reasonable... looking at roughly $2.0-2.5M to sign #1 QB/player (assuming escalates each year)

OnTexasFootball spoke with a source close to Texas 4-star++ safety commit Zelus Hicks (Carrollton, Ga./High).

Hicks was on campus at Tennessee and Georgia Tech the last two weekends.

This weekend, the 6-1, 185-pound safety will make an OV to Florida.

The following weekend will be his OV to Texas for the Kentucky game.

So he still gets paid that fourth year when he heads to the league after three?

Before he's played a down in college?

Their own mods think it is unlikely, but feel free to piss your panties.

I mean, look what they pay pros before they ever play a down in the NFL.

Damn, Myron is going to love Austin coming from Port Charlotte.  I did a rotation for 12 weeks at a clinic down there a decade plus ago and Port Charlotte is an absolute shithole.  During my lunch breaks, I'd hit up the town's best restaurant, McDonalds, and then walk around a thrift store.  That was all there was to do there... every day the clinic would be full of patients with meth mouth.

My understanding is that it’s an annual commitment, but just laid out kind of like any other multi-year contract (there’s an initial time period and terminal value). If he leaves early for any reason (busts and transfers or early to the NFL), he doesn’t get the next year’s money because he can’t meet the contractual obligations like showing up to events, etc. These can’t be pay-for-play, either. He must meet the other obligations. If his value exceeds this, I think he can renegotiate and/or cash in on opportunities outside of the collective. However, someone like @RGBIII or @immamac would know better.

Went to Port Charlotte for Rangers spring training.  It was a white trash refuge.  If they held an American white trash convention, Port Charlotte would definitely be in the running for host city.

They can structure it however they want tbh. It's just kinda dumb to pay it up front and hope they stay compliant so no one really does.

Recruiting rule #1 - There’s always a package deal, and the more highly rated ALWAYS follows his lesser rated BFF to a worse situation.

You missed the sarcasm.  If a package deal works out, they go where the higher rated prospect wants almost every time.
