Did Hilson show up to see this ass kicking tonight?

Last I heard he was going to watch Missouri.

Edit: The timeline on his 247 profile says he’s on an official visit at Mizzou that started yesterday.

I’m not interested in getting political, but your description of circumstances can get immediately fucked. Negged for attempting to absurdly minimize the assassination attempt on a presidential candid

Fasusi got to watch the OL dominate as well.

Hilson will do whatever he does, but if he picks A&M it won’t be because he’s been given reason to believe he’ll be developed more there. If he makes the wrong choice that tells me a ton about him.

And he got to see a starter and his backup both dominate at left tackle. That should be a positive but it takes faith in one's ability to recognize that.

Also got to watch Goosby come in and kill it. That’s three great examples of tackles being developed under Flood.

Gerry keeps saying a big part of Hilson is he wants to be developed.  Sorrell, Moore, Simmons, and Burke all made big plays tonight.  Don't think I ever heard Scourton or Stewart's name.

It’s gotta be the single worst post in this thread. And that’s saying a lot, there are some pretty terrible posts in here.

If all NIL is equal or slightly higher at A&M and you watched the game tonight and still choose A&M then lol

Sure… the other side of the coin is that he saw Goosby grab a stranglehold on LT in 2025.

Goosby could be a 1 and done guy if he can play like that next season especially at his length

You only need one season of good film as an OT.

Hope he packed a jacket

Would be hilarious if Chace Simms or Lamont Rogers showed up on campus tomorrow.

College sports and pro sports remain apples to oranges to the extent that colleges retain an enormous regulatory burden (to say nothing of custom-notice we are still requiring athletes and schools to comply with the NCAA’s degree progress to preserve eligibility).

The beauty of NIL is this facilitates that-if volleyball players feel underpaid because Gatorade doesn’t see the same endorsement value as football then it’s the private market, not the school, that is depriving them of that.

I’m a little skeptical of collegiate athlete endorsement value, which I think will keep the costs low enough that enthusiastic donors and collectives will be able to keep the bigger schools from monopolizing the athlete market (it’ll still be big money but I don’t see Nike paying Michael Jordan money to Arch Manning or Travis Hunter unless they demonstrate it in the NFL).

Weirder to me than NIL is how the revenue sharing will work-that’s potentially a huge expense to the schools, many of whom are already begging for cost relief and have to borrow it from academics.  If universities truly see athletics as the “front door” of the school, we may see athletics need to be brought in more to the university budget rather than kept separate (though UT and Ohio State will likely the the last two standing if this occurs).

Regarding corporate NIL, it's already a case of have's vs have-not's. I'm excited about it because Texas is probably the largest beneficiary of this and fuck everyone else. USC could be winning with it also, but that's only if they are ever worth a fuck. That might be it. Large city, no professional competition in any sport but soccer in UT's case, massive brand, massive brands for both the city and the state as well.

Ewers is making millions this season in pure corporate NIL. A proven or hyped QB at Texas is guaranteed to make millions each year and likely into the 8 figures sooner or later. Other stars on the team will benefit nationally and value for players will trickle downward. That is a hard counter for small town teams unless they've built national branding. Alabama and Notre Dame have some of that, but not many others.

Even still, those programs can't connect players to local Ferrari, Lambo or Maserati dealerships. There are numerous "local" entities that exist in Austin or Los Angeles that simply do not serve Tuscaloosa, South Bend or even Baton Rouge.

How about Kenny Baker getting some love for the development of Broughton. I  think he just played the best game of his life and two years ago I wondered if he would eventually transfer. He totally dominated and I think he was the best player on defense last night. He straight murdered the interior of the A&M line. Fucking awesome. It gives me hope that he can turn Mitchell into a monster eventually.

I feel like ND is attached at the hip to the Chicago media market, via both proximity and alumni base. And therefore I assumed that NIL treated them the same way.  Is that not the case so far?

i wonder how long its going to take to start hearing good recruiting news about this weekend.

Someone posted on the 247 board that the Florida 247 board is saying they think Charles sticks with Texas.

The SEC said they would start fining coaches, let’s see if their balls dropped.

Didn’t seem like a flop to me live. Just cramps and being exhausted from getting their shit pounded all night.

I think the amount of times it happened by different players but then they were right back in the game says different.

Nah they were definitely faking injuries.

Why exactly do you think that? We were running clock. There was no strategic advantage to slow our offense down.

It’s not about strategic advantage to slow us down. It’s about giving them more breaks because they were getting their ass whooped and needed them

Because they were tired and trying to get an extra breather would be my guess. They don’t have much dline depth worth a shit. It happened well before just that last drive also.

I think it’s too easy to claim someone is faking an injury. It’s more likely we were whipping them and playing so physical up front they were sustaining injuries in the process.

Yeah sustaining injuries while popping up and walking off like everything is fine then limping off and coming back a play or two later. Suuuuuure they were actually hurt, right? They’ve literally been accused of it before like why are you defending their blatant faking of injuries

Only for them to return a play or 2 later? Yeah they were getting their asses whipped and was tapping out. They weren’t injured and the only thing hurt was probably their pussies.

It happened to Wisner last night. Twice. Now go call him a pussy. We won and kicked their ass in the process. Stop being a bitch.

How far we've come from Breckyn Hager overshooting the play by 5 yards every down.

I like the kids on Reddit. They’ve got the spirit.

Still…far too many of them have downplayed the rivalry with Arkansas and eve A&M. It’s been good to see how well they’ve taken to dunking on Aggie since the game came back.

Not just Mitchell, but Bledsoe and Bryant as well.

I think a rule change is in order. If a player goes down, they are out for the remainder of the series.

Gird Up Your Loins: Sunday recruiting update

OnTexasFootball provides the latest intel on a number of targets.

Defensive line ...

Texas has had quality phone calls with Myron Charlesand family in the last 24 hours. My gut being around this recruitment with two stops at Port Charlotte High during the process is that Myron prefers Texas. Myron texted the staff before and after the game Saturday night, while being in Tallahassee. These are rough and tumble battles late pulling on family members from the in-state and closer to home schools. Florida is pressing as hard as they possibly can.

Justus Terry is not likely to announce on December 4, but Friday the 6th. Texas continues to plug away with the understanding that a family member may just want closer to home at the end of the day - driving distance to Georgia, Auburn or Alabama. But there is another family member that is open to Justus at Texas. Texas is all in here.

There isn't a lot of confidence with Auburn 4-star++ DL commit Nathaniel Marshall (Oak Park, Il./Fenwick). The communication is ongoing, but it remains an uphill battle. Texas would have to overcome Auburn's long standing relationship with Marshall's mom (think in terms Brandon Brown's mom and Bo Davis). But Texas will plug away.

Texas feels good about Joseph Mbatchou, with the understanding that Florida will give it one more swing.

One final note, OTF was told that LSU 4-star commitment Zion Williams (Lufkin, Texas/High) sent Texas a congrats text after the game. Williams was a guest of Texas A&M Saturday night. For the recruiting is funny portion of the update.

Javion Hilson ...

Hilson and Texas have been in contact in the last 24 hours. Multiple times. Texas is staying in the fight against Texas A&M. All things equal, I believe Hilson prefers Texas ... but I've been wrong plenty in this business before. And that doesn't mean I believe he will pick Texas. Those on the 40 Acres are recruiting like they are behind right now.

Michael Fasusi...

Nothing new as of 11am Sunday with Oklahoma 5-star OT commit Michael Fasusi.

Wiley and Terry...

No change with either. Texas solidly leads.

GameDay went in on Lane and Ole Miss for faking injuries. ESPN seems opposed. It seems to be a SEC thing. You don’t see it much in Big Ten games. Does ESPN have enough influence to change the rule? Maybe, but it might not be on FOX’s radar.
