We just lucked out with someone stepping up behind the scenes. if you’re not gonna keep up with the highs and lows of the cycles try not to offer up a “I knew he was a longhorn the whole time” type bullshit.

Give him an off-season in the S&C program and he'll be much better next year. His average this year was almost identical with Dickson his freshman year. Agree with this, but also why not go get a decent punter from a small school in the portal who just wants a UT degree. Roster and scholly limits are gone and backups sometimes have to play
December 4, 20241 yr I’m thinking Syracuse for Hilson. He wrote an article yesterday that didn’t even mention Michigan or Missouri. Early PT is big for him and he’s got a good relationship with ERob. I dunno about freshman AA, but he thinks he needs 100 snaps a game to do it.
December 4, 20241 yr Is anyone else laughing at the idea of Zion Williams signing with LSU, their class unraveling and rumors of a massive portal exodus, all after multiple shitty seasons in a row? Or is that just me? Not our grapes, Gerry was high on him for a long time as a junior and I was always pretty meh. Signing Justice Terry instead would be a nice consolation package.

December 4, 20241 yr I still don't understand how they calculate the rankings. According to 247, Georgia has more commits than Texas, one more 5-star than Texas, five more 4 stars, and somehow we're still ranked higher? I love the optics of it, but I don't understand how that math works.

There are like 380 spots between them in the rankings.

I love the optics of it, but I don't understand how that math works. Each commit has an actual value, so while the start system makes it look like all four stars are the same, the class ranking is based on the recruit's actual ranking value, which can vary quite a bit even within each star level.

But not sure how pointing out that the pitchforks were also out for Dickson after his freshman year is the same as saying Kern will be Dickson 2.0. It's called perspective which, granted, isn't a Surly virtue, but is important none-the-less.

I would think it is based on individual player's points, but I don't understand that math either if they have 5 more 4 stars than us.

Just this cycle alone Brandon Harris was a disaster and in over his head, Kenny Baker was a no recruiting hack disaster of a DL coach, Gideon and Joseph were terrible, we were going to have no DT recruits, etc. Here we are with one of the best DLs in the country, the best secondary in the country, the number 1 team in the nation heading into the SEC title game, and with the #1/2 recruiting class.
