Nah. This kid can play. If he's actually 6'3 he's gotta be more than 205, but he moves very well for his size, has long arms, and plays strong through contact.

Good LBs fly under the radar all the time. Look at TyAnthony Smith just last year.

And my point has never been that there was a perfect OL out there. In fact. I was pretty clear that I was just wondering how to fix the problems we have and that I lack the knowledge or expertise to theorize an answer. I just know what we don’t do well, and I know there are teams who don’t seem to struggle at those things.

So now that I know what you’re getting at, I’ll ask you to skip both the Socratic and the cocksucking.

We all heard leading up to cotton bowl OSUs OL was piece meal, they showed on the broadcast how many diff starting positions thru the season.

But they got short yardage push when needed.

No coach here but that sounds like coaching to me.

Esp when they seemed to change their entire seasons run scheme at will within one month prior to the playoff.

I have an idea that Sark will mainly bring out QB run package in the red zone during big games next season. I think the Mannings would be up Sark’s ass quick if he starts running Arch 10+ times a game.

Especially considering his non officially reported concussion..

His HUDL film is 2 years old, so I assume that's sophomore year highlights.  He has a great frame and is nicely athletic.  I don't have an issue with him as an end of the class take.  He could turn into something.

If you watch the tape (as noted above, it’s two years old and still shows an impressive physical level of play), Tuitele looks like a guy who can play, not a jag. Nansen knows what he’s doing.

Found some recent tape of AJ:

https://access.qwikcut.com/highlights/66dfb0c59b1132034f489930

Take aways: He’s definitely got a good coach. He plays linebacker at a high level. Feet, angles, pursuit, coverage, etc. He looks sound and natural. He’s violent, yet controlled. He’s got a good frame. I don’t know what his speed tops out at, but he’s definitely moving much faster than everyone else in this Nevada HS district. Texas & USC offers says both coaching staffs see similar traits.

Gotta restock those poly ties

Here’s an update on the LV linebacker from Burton’s perspective:

Spoiler

Well, just like I want to keep growing OTF, it appears Steve Sarkisian wants to keep building the Longhorns into a juggernaut.

Sark never stops building, that’s one of the things I really admire about him.

Sark and the Longhorns offered another player in the class of 2025 yesterday, AJ Tuitele, a linebacker from Las Vegas. Tuitele originally signed with Washington State but was released from that when his head coach took another job.

Southern Cal is also involved but Johnny Nansen and Sark have at least put their hat in the ring.

We’ll see how things turn out. But again, it’s a sign that Texas and Sark are always looking for ways to improve, even if it’s unconventionally.

Thanks again for year one!

Here’s Gerry’s update on the LV linebacker. Note that he’s not offering his own opinion on the recruit, which I’d still like to hear. Nonetheless, the guy’s coach sure seems like he’s a fan:

More on AJ Tuitele and new 2026 offers

The Texas Longhorns are scheduled to host an official visitor this weekend after Johnny Nansen offered 2025 linebacker A.J. Tuitele (North Las Vegas, NV/Mojave) Tuesday.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pounder made an official visit to USC last weekend, and is considered the favorite headed into the weekend visit to Texas.

Tuitele signed with Washington State December 4 over Arizona, but asked for his release following the departure of head coach Jake Dickert to Wake Forest.

The under the radar prospect put together one of the most impressive senior seasons in the country. He totaled 196 tackles, 39 tackles for loss, nine passes defended, five sacks, two caused fumbles and two fumble recoveries in 13 games for Mojave High.

Mojave High head coach Wes Pacheco told OnTexasFootball this on his star linebacker ...

"High motor everything! The real deal...Special once in a generation talent that has truly been under the radar... He will have an elite college career and play on Sundays in the NFL!"

Based on his recent follows, looks like Georgia might throw their hat in the ring late too. Does USC even have a LB coach?

That's actually a big jump for Phillips, which could put him close to composite 5* range.

Not sure what's up with 247's composite ratings.  It goes back and forth every couple of days where we have five composite 5*'s and then a couple drop down to where it's only three.  Glit maybe?  Just something I've noticed over the past month or so.

With the amount of NIL money involved, I would have a hard time believing that the people involved in these rankings can't be influenced financially to bump a borderline four star up to five star.  I am not throwing stones at 247.  I mean that with all of the rankings lists.

Rivals sucks. There's no way in the world that there are 166 better prospects than Bo Barnes.

That's neat Ketch but those losers aren't our competition right now. What did Georgia do?

That seems to be a confusing situation, unless it’s been clarified and I missed it. He started wearing his wedding ring again, I think she’s worn her ring in social media posts (some from games if I recall) and Loreal was on the stage during at least one of the bowl win celebrations. And no, I’m not confusing her with UT Football exec Kyrah McCowan, like some have. It’s Loreal.

Yea, the jacket having appropriate drape while rocking the 2010s skinny pant/loafer combo is a choice.

We’ve been getting A LOT of Jonah Williams questions lately, so I spoke with some sources regarding where things currently stand with him.

Williams, an early enrollee, will be a two-sport athlete on the Forty Acres. He’ll attempt to balance both football and baseball, which is no easy task.

Toward the end of football season, Williams fractured his clavicle on his left arm. Both staffs do not want to rush him and have been working to rehab that injury as efficiently as possible.

One source close to the baseball program told me that there is no definitive timetable for Williams return.

“I’m not sure. Hoping to be cleared for some stuff and we’ll go from there,” said the source.

Williams is doing certain work outs trying to balance being in both baseball and football shape at the same time.

He also works with both the football and baseball staff at different parts of the day.

As for where he’ll end up on the diamond, I’ve been told that will all work itself out as he continues to get healthier. On the mound or in the outfield are the two options, but the quicker path to earlier playing time will be pitching… for now.

So one rating service had Oregon as #1, but after losing a scrub QB to Cak, they fell to #5?!?!

Squeeze me?

That doesn’t make sense.

Also, which service did you see have them at #1?

Must have been ESPN, because I think that is where I saw the story or the notice scrolling along the bottom.

I think that they adjusted things after that Top 100 scrub QB transferred to (transitioned at?) Cal*.
