that's freaking awesome. is his AF experience alone is enough to get him a great job ?

Yes. After his 8 when he got out but Especially had he stayed in 30, where he’d have a killer pension to go with his health care for life. He has a ton of certifications as a large aircraft mechanic, knows all the avionics, and has all the project planning stuff. He also could go into air traffic control. He loves airplanes and being around them. He could leave tomorrow and Boeing or Lockheed would hire him. But he loves what the current gig allows him with little pressure and no folks to supervise.

If one goes in with a plan and gets to go into what they want to do in technical areas it is a huge advantage. Every base has free university classes. I recommend Air Force and Navy as the best for tech jobs.

gah! i just hung up with our girl, she leaves for Madrid tomorrow... she's absolutely terrified but determined. and i'm the one crying right now lol. this brave, beautiful girl...my goodness. the best advice i could give her specifically...get out of your own head as much as you can and take in all that is around you!
she's been restricting for a couple weeks in the lead up to her departure, but she swears it's only bc she's anticipating gaining while she's there. we can only hope and pray at this point, it's been out of our hands for a while now.
her hostess is a yoga instructor, plus i helped her research all the outdoor 'calisthenics parks' that are apparently all over both Madrid and Valencia. that eased some of the extreme anxiety she was feeling specific to being able to exercise. the running...i dunno, i just told her to imagine running along the coast of the Mediterranean...[emoji4][emoji7]
i just want her to live and enjoy the experience..and not come back 100 lbs [emoji19] [emoji120]

My wife did a semester in Madrid and she said they ate and drank more than she’s ever had in her life and still lost 10 lbs. She said all you do is sweat and walk. There’s zero need to exercise.

Sweat. Walk. And bang Spaniards. Seems she left a part out when she told you the story.

well sure, if you have a normal, healthy relationship with food 🙂 unfortunately my niece isn't quite there...but hopefully this experience will do even more to help her 'see' what life can be like.

one step at a time... today i just hope she gets on the plane 😊

ETA: we have not heard from her as of 11pm, so assume that means she got on the plane. it was in doubt right up until boarding.
