Ok @Handcruser , I found a stupid good deal on an LWRC….what else am I missing. I’ll put a light and a 1x6 on it.

Thoughts? IWI is roughly $300 less. Should I entertain?

I’d do it. Quality gear. Is it DI or piston?

I've really enjoyed several of the LWRC's I've handled/shot/hunted with.

@Handcruser

Talk me into or out of a Sig M400. Need more pew-pew for shenanigans and ranch fuckery. I have an AR new that is set up for longer shots, varmint work, smaller deer, etc. This is the opposite. Truck gun. HD. Range work with the kids. I'd mount a red dot and a light and maybe a sub later down the line, but probably not. In the base-model price range of a grand, am I sniffing up the right tree?

And I do know the rail guard is shit.

I have an M400 with the 16” barrel and a Romeo/Juliet combo and agree with @Handcruser. It’s a decent quality AR for $1000 out of the box.

That said, for what you are saying you want it for I personally would choose a Mini 14, but I don’t like ARs.

Mini's are a PITA. Never liked them. Inaccurate, rattly, can't keep a scope zeroed on them. Never been a fan, and this is having a roommate who had one. Neither of us shot it much.

Do you have issues with the LWRC piston version?

I do t have one but I prefer piston. They are smoother. But if this was a shtf gun or whatever gas all day please.

The older ones had issues but I’ve got a post-580 Mini and I like it better than any AR.

I was hoping you'd say that. I'm planning out a couple of builds for some lowers I have collecting dust in the safe, and am pretty much all in on piston at the moment. LWRC and PWS are the uppers I have penciled in for the new builds. Have heard and read lots of mixed reviews on retrofit kits but may break down and see what if they are as iffy as they say. Spent some time behind a LWRC piston gun this fall and they are just so much cleaner and well suppressed (imo)

I had a PWS and sold it - smooth as fuck but I was thinning the collection before I moved.

I’m about to get an 18” Type -A 6mm arc. After that I’ll get a 14.5 fighting gun and kit it out. Gas of course. Both with Jacob Grey triggers.
