December 12, 20214 yr The Mexican George Strait.... Only thing is I never heard him cover a George song but I did hear George Strait cover a Vicente Fernandez song
December 12, 20214 yr I was never a huge fan but my wife was and we went to his concert in Dallas in 2012. One can't help but become a fan when an artist that does need too puts in an incredible effort to entertain his fans at his age.
December 13, 20214 yr My neighbor that lives behind me must be on a tequila bender. Been playing his music loud enough for everyone to hear for about 40 minutes. I'm sure he's in his backyard and has raised his glass several times by now

And I love Strait. Not really sure there is a comparable American artist. Maybe Michael Jackson? Not sure. Either way, RIP to one of the greatest. Having tequila for a week in his honor.

December 13, 20214 yr Vicente would be hard to explain to anyone in the USA but I will give it a shot. He is like George Strait because he was a singer that endeared himself to the fans of music that represents the rural areas of the country. He is like Bruce Springsteen because like "Born in the USA" his music brings out patriotism. He is like Elvis because he was as big as Elvis but never went past his prime. He is like no other in the USA because in Mexico everyone knew a chente song because his music was part of every wedding, every quinciniera and every breakup. December 15, 20214 yr Been listening to this pretty much non-stop the past 2 days, trying to do a proper arrangement for my band, believe it or not this would go over great at Oktoberfests...
December 15, 20214 yr My dad has been playing Vicente Fernandez in his garage for as long as I can remember. RIP to a legend.
December 16, 20214 yr My best friend for nearly 5 decades is a VF loving mexican, so, needless to say, I've heard a ton of his music while drinking with him. Pretty, pretty, pretty good.
